05:42 PM rue_shop2: arg
06:35 PM rue_shop2: I think I need to recal my phones to 1mw
06:36 PM rue_shop2: incomming audio is too loud and I think its causing echo to people who call me
06:53 PM Tom_L: all i got is your old work #
06:53 PM Tom_L: i think
06:54 PM rue_mohr: oh
06:54 PM Tom_L: no i have 2
06:54 PM Tom_L: ending in 34
06:54 PM Tom_L: and 85
06:54 PM rue_mohr: 34 is home
06:54 PM Tom_L: 85 is gone
06:54 PM rue_mohr: 85 is obsolete
07:31 PM Tom_L: so if you do need A9-10 will you need latches too?
07:31 PM Tom_L: the thing with the slot
08:15 PM rue_mohr: I think we made tonnes
08:15 PM rue_mohr: but when we do repairs, we often pull the old ones
08:16 PM Tom_L: got a new caliper/micrometer set
08:16 PM rue_mohr: ooo
08:16 PM Tom_L: gave the other one to my kid cause he needed some at work
08:18 PM Tom_L: https://www.amazon.com/Mitutoyo-64PKA076B-Digimatic-Micrometer-Mahogany/dp/B00XYT1PZS
08:18 PM Tom_L: everybody uses that mic around here
08:24 PM rue_mohr: huh
08:25 PM Tom_L: don't have to zero the calipers either
08:25 PM rue_mohr: pondering it, a 3 phase VFD would have all the parts in it that I need for the XYZ motor driver of the cnc
08:25 PM rue_mohr: I can run one DC motor from each phase output
08:25 PM Tom_L: where does the other leg go?
08:26 PM Tom_L: how would you pulse them separately?
08:26 PM rue_mohr: the virtual ground between the capacitors of the voltage doubler
08:26 PM rue_mohr: yea, it would need a re-brain from the drivers up
08:26 PM rue_mohr: down? up?
08:26 PM Tom_L: seems like alot of grief
08:26 PM rue_mohr: no
08:26 PM rue_mohr: the power section is most of the grief
08:26 PM rue_mohr: all the way to the fet drivers
08:27 PM rue_mohr: I dont have any scrapped VFDs
08:27 PM Tom_L: so you would scrap the firmware part of it?
08:28 PM Tom_L: all the parameter setup
08:34 PM rue_mohr: oh I'd have to ditch the whole brain
08:34 PM rue_mohr: usually the IGBTs are burned out, so thats probably the first step
08:34 PM rue_mohr: check the drivers see if their ok
08:34 PM rue_mohr: and rectifiers, but I'm on single phase, so theirs room for existing failure in there
08:35 PM rue_mohr: and then I would set up pwm control, individual, on each of the 3 channels
08:35 PM rue_mohr: most of what helps is the box it all comes in
08:35 PM rue_mohr: lots of space
08:35 PM rue_mohr: I just talked to my long-stale contact with the local pulp mill, he gave me a bit of a lead
08:35 PM rue_mohr: oh I could ask the sawmill too
08:36 PM rue_mohr: and the aggragate mine
08:38 PM Tom_L: for VFDs?
08:44 PM rue_mohr: yep
08:58 PM rue_shop2: ...
08:58 PM rue_shop2: do you think it would count holes in encoder discs?
09:04 PM Tom_L: not my encoders :)
09:05 PM Tom_L: 500-1024 slots?
09:05 PM Tom_L: try those ones i made ya
09:06 PM rue_shop3: I suppose I can use the driver I made from a computer power supply for testing
10:33 PM rue_shop3: hahaha
10:33 PM rue_shop3: uhm
10:34 PM rue_shop3: http://ruemohr.org/%7Eircjunk/tempimage/image_counts.jpg
10:34 PM rue_shop3: they both focused on different things
10:35 PM rue_shop3: oh no, its better than that
10:35 PM rue_shop3: both those are the amplitude counter, the fft rejected both
10:37 PM rue_shop3: http://ruemohr.org/%7Eircjunk/tempimage/image_counts1.jpg
10:37 PM rue_shop3: hmmmm
10:40 PM rue_shop3: ditching profile 489 becasue its radius is too ... wrong... 12.61
10:40 PM rue_shop3: hahah
10:41 PM rue_shop3: http://ruemohr.org/%7Eircjunk/tempimage/image_counts4.jpg
10:42 PM rue_shop3: hhaha the 26 off on the left
10:43 PM rue_shop3: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/image_counts5.jpg
10:43 PM rue_shop3: there we go
10:47 PM rue_shop3: omg I just got an idea
10:47 PM rue_shop3: it'll take some time to try
10:48 PM rue_shop3: I'm going to make a mask, by using a white canvas and a black circle thats just smaller than the detector circle,
10:48 PM rue_shop3: and I'm going to mask the greyscale image,
10:48 PM rue_shop3: then somehow feed that series of greyscale pixels to the fft
10:49 PM rue_shop3: I think it'll pick up better on it than after its been made into a black and white image
