01:39 PM polprog: well on friday we were setting up a new old raman spectrometer
01:39 PM polprog: earlier this week i was setting up linux on some nice Xilinx SoC
01:41 PM BloodMoon: wow, that sounds like cool stuff. I have no idea what a raman spectrometer is. but I have heard of Xilinx chips a wee bit.
01:41 PM polprog: the xilinx ones are quite cool
01:41 PM polprog: its a ZynQ MPSoC
01:41 PM polprog: 4 arm cores and an fpga on one chip
01:42 PM polprog: runs linux, you can load your own fpga bitstream from that linux and talk to it

01:43 PM BloodMoon: the linux mind gives birth to its own custom hardware :D
01:43 PM polprog: if i could install vivado on it it could really make its own hardware

04:32 PM polprog: like, mounting the rails that hold the front panels, a) i screwed up measurement at some point and had to flip them, they arent parallel now
04:32 PM polprog: b) fastening the front panel rails that hold the cards to the rest of the body is more difficult than I expected
