04:24 AM rue_bed: kitty!
04:50 AM Tom_L: morning
05:02 AM rue_bed: ugh
05:02 AM rue_bed: hoped to sleep solid till 4
05:03 AM Tom_L: i'm usually up 2 to 3x
06:19 AM rue_mohr: huh
06:19 AM rue_mohr: it looks like I just have to dive in on the skeletonics thing
06:20 AM rue_mohr: I been trying to work out how best to build it, that approach may not work
06:20 AM rue_mohr: It'll have to be a feel-it-out
06:21 AM rue_mohr: the photos I'm finding show they make a lot of design changes
02:10 PM rue_mohr: I'm home
02:10 PM rue_mohr: had some fun making the internet work again
04:16 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR4pmNEWuo4&t=124s
04:57 PM rue_mohr: nice
05:18 PM polprog: but im starting to do my first real research in physics
05:19 PM polprog: today i was doing atom force microscopy of some 200nm wide bits of a semiconductor
05:20 PM rue_mohr: how did the other thing go?
05:20 PM polprog: hdl?
05:21 PM rue_mohr: a project with a team that wasn't gonna actually finish the project byu the deadline
05:21 PM polprog: hm i dont remmeber
05:21 PM rue_mohr: cause everyone expected everything to work the first time it was put togethor
05:22 PM polprog: hmm
05:22 PM polprog: wait...
05:22 PM rue_mohr: and almost all the work was being dumped on polprog
05:22 PM polprog: oh the mechanical TV
05:22 PM polprog: it went very well
05:22 PM rue_mohr: oh yea, you put up a video
05:22 PM rue_mohr: and I didn't notice the multiple holes in the disc
05:23 PM polprog: we will probably make a very similar one but insulate it better from light and use a photodetector in place of a diode
05:23 PM polprog: to make a mechanical camera like they did in the era
05:24 PM rue_mohr: buts its an LED
05:24 PM polprog: i mean in place of the led
05:24 PM polprog: so a separate box
05:24 PM polprog: same disc, same motor driver
05:24 PM rue_mohr: yea, an LED works as a light sensor
05:24 PM polprog: not that one
05:24 PM polprog: and we have a better one
05:25 PM polprog: a dedicated photodiode
05:25 PM polprog: that led there is a phosphor coated 24V one, has loads of chips on it
05:26 PM polprog: we will probably use a bpw34
05:26 PM polprog: and some current to voltage converter opamp circuit
05:28 PM rue_mohr: you have me interested in writing XY to polar scan converter for it
05:29 PM polprog: the frame is small enough that we will treat it as xy
05:29 PM rue_mohr: yea
05:29 PM rue_mohr: a camera would auto-correct for it
09:55 PM aandrew: mechanical tv?
09:55 PM aandrew: Tom_L: that's a really cool motion controller
09:55 PM aandrew: that reminds me though I really gotta get going on those HDL projects
09:56 PM aandrew: gonna become critical path real soon
09:57 PM aandrew: used 4GB of phone data today because I was stuck in the city and doing google meets in a gas station parking lot
10:20 PM rue_shop2: hmm
11:03 PM rue_shop3: 1/4"X2.5" bolts
11:03 PM rue_shop3: 1/4" washers
