02:52 AM rue_mohr: 2571
03:01 AM rue_mohr: interesting
04:54 AM Tom_L: morning
11:15 AM rue_mohr: dfsgsdfhad
11:36 AM aandrew: yes, exactly
11:37 AM rue_mohr: I didn't really realize till late, but yesterday was a terrible failure
11:37 AM rue_mohr: well, moderate failure
11:37 AM rue_mohr: but failure
11:40 AM aandrew: oh?
11:40 AM rue_mohr: the injection molder was progress but failure
11:40 AM rue_mohr: the mowerbot too
11:41 AM aandrew: kind of a two steps backward kind of day?
11:41 AM rue_mohr: one step forwards, all other steps sideways
11:41 AM rue_mohr: wall?
11:42 AM aandrew: either that or you're a crab
11:45 AM rue_mohr: oh AND
11:46 AM rue_mohr: the mirror software
11:46 AM rue_mohr: I'v not been babbling about it
11:46 AM rue_mohr: I have a stupid-simple form that wont do a get from the server
11:48 AM rue_mohr: awesome day out there
11:49 AM rue_mohr: what do I cast?
11:50 AM rue_mohr: the poor cat this morning
11:50 AM rue_mohr: asked to go out, (via window) and was pacing back and forth on the window ledge cause I'd taken the ladder away
11:51 AM rue_mohr: she's gettin old
11:51 AM aandrew: I'm fussing over workshop/office storage/organization
11:52 AM aandrew: and my left nostril/side of face feels like wood today, I had eustacian (sp?) tube surgery a couple days ago and so far it's worse, not better
11:52 AM aandrew: but that's kind of expected until the swelling goes down
11:52 AM aandrew: actually maybe that's why it's feeling that way, I didn't take the meds this morning but I'm not in pain, I wonder if they're for swelling too
11:53 AM rue_mohr: oh no
11:53 AM rue_mohr: probably
11:54 AM aandrew: tramadol and tylenol aren't swelling reducers though from what I'm reading, they're alagesics which is pain relief
11:54 AM aandrew: maybe I should call telehealth
11:55 AM rue_mohr: advil is what I use for antiinflam
11:55 AM rue_mohr: I'm not expert
11:55 AM aandrew: they told me under absolutely NO condition should I take anything else
11:55 AM rue_mohr: ok
11:56 AM aandrew: possibly because of blood thinning or anticoagulation maybe
11:56 AM aandrew: I'm not bleeding except for the very first day when I bent over to tie my shoes
11:56 AM aandrew: fucking canada
11:56 AM aandrew: call telehealth and listen to the same bullshit in english and french, then literally 80s into the call the automated lady is still talking.
11:57 AM aandrew: and after all that they finally say "if it's an emergency, hang up and call 911, lol.
11:57 AM rue_mohr: yup
11:57 AM aandrew: gotta placate the 10% of the fucking population
11:57 AM rue_mohr: I was thinking of timing the sequence and making an asterisk script
11:57 AM aandrew: then now it's 2.5 minutes in and they're prattling on about covid
11:57 AM aandrew: fucking hell
11:57 AM rue_mohr: they have the same thing at the hospital
11:58 AM aandrew: yeah I know it's so stupid
11:58 AM aandrew: I get it, but you could have all this said in under 15 seconds
11:58 AM rue_mohr: if I want to call the maintenance manager and tell him I connected the network jack, I have to wade thru a minute of covid crap
12:00 PM aandrew: at least they do have the "press 1 to have us call you without losing your place in line"
12:01 PM rue_mohr: doesn't work for me, I have a phone system with a menu
12:02 PM rue_mohr: or welding
12:02 PM rue_mohr: I really want to do some welding of casting
12:02 PM rue_mohr: I could start maybe by welding up the hole in the casting pot
12:06 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: they have the option to enter an extension when they call
12:06 PM aandrew: I want to get my little 3018 CNC running, and of course get the motor for the big bridgeport and get that running too
12:07 PM rue_mohr: oooo
12:07 PM rue_mohr: I didn't get anything done on the cnc project I was supposed to do during downtime in winter
12:08 PM aandrew: yeah me neither
12:08 PM rue_mohr: the cold doesn't help
12:09 PM rue_mohr: need shower, breakfast and clothes..
12:09 PM rue_mohr: and a project that doesn't need software
12:10 PM rue_mohr: there could easily be two of me, one working on hardware and the other software
12:10 PM rue_mohr: which would require another me to keep the tea pot fill
12:10 PM rue_mohr: full
12:10 PM aandrew: haha yes yes
12:10 PM aandrew: I don't thinkt he world would appreciate two of me
12:11 PM rue_mohr: macro automation
12:11 PM rue_mohr: take something you do and make it a macro
12:11 PM rue_mohr: you just have to trigger it
12:12 PM aandrew: well that was kind of the idea behind my "mental dbus"
12:13 PM rue_mohr: hmm
12:13 PM aandrew: I have gnu/social running on my colocated machine (think microblogging service like twitter or mastodon but older and self-hosted) - you throw shit at it and it just stores it
12:14 PM aandrew: then what I wanted to do was have "agents" listening to whatever I was writing and working off of keywords, so a grocery shopping one would be noting messages that had grocery in it or something, a timesheet one for timesheets, one for git repos I want to keep track of, another for house ideas, another for todos etc etc
12:14 PM aandrew: so I just scream into the void so to speak and they organize my thoughts
12:15 PM aandrew: so when I want to do a grocery run I just grab the output of the grocery agent as the starting point for my grocery list. each week the timesheet agent would spit out the start of my time sheets, etc.
01:02 PM rue_mohr: heh, coffee coffee coffee burger milk sugar coffee ... needs a 'unique' clause....
01:03 PM Tom_L: .
01:04 PM rue_mohr: ?
01:04 PM Tom_L: o
01:04 PM Tom_L: O
01:04 PM rue_mohr: gonna try to make use of the weather
01:04 PM rue_mohr: if it holds
01:05 PM Tom_L: won't be around much this weekend
01:05 PM rue_mohr: k
01:07 PM rue_mohr: hopefully I will have some injection progress when your back watching
01:11 PM Tom_L: counting onit
02:03 PM rue_mohr: ok found and fixed the leak in the casting pot
02:16 PM rue_mohr: 2577
02:17 PM rue_mohr: wow its all over the place
02:18 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: do you know anything about irrigation? like lawn irrigation
02:25 PM rue_mohr: apply water
02:26 PM rue_mohr: afternoon and evenings are best, cause you dont want to shock the plants and have the sun just evaporate all the water
02:27 PM aandrew: lol
02:27 PM aandrew: I meant the typical connections to allow the system to be blown out in the fall, etc.
02:27 PM rue_mohr: oh
02:28 PM rue_mohr: usually drainback
02:29 PM aandrew: "drainback" ? googling
02:31 PM aandrew: hm that's more automatic, I don't trust that. Gonna see if I can figure out what connection they use to connect a compressor to blow them out in the fall
02:35 PM aandrew: looks like i need a threaded "tee" after each zone's valve (i.e. don't blow air through the valve)
02:36 PM aandrew: then just push 50psi through each zone in turn
02:36 PM rue_mohr: we dont get it freezing too deep here, so
03:19 PM rue_shop3: ok set up the injector to purge
03:19 PM rue_shop3: kepe half an eye on that...
03:26 PM Tom_L: sometimes i forget to blow them out and it's been fine so far
03:27 PM Tom_L: rue_shop3, don't forget that like you do your dinner...
03:54 PM rue_shop3: wow, PLA has this really funny tiny temperature range where its ok
03:54 PM rue_shop3: at 183 its soup, and 180 its toffee
04:28 PM Tom_L: learning things
08:57 PM rue_shop3: ugh, mowerbot got a hard short in the computer power feed
08:57 PM Tom_L: woops
09:00 PM rue_mohr: not suere where, work it out later
09:13 PM rue_mohr: I wonder what would happen if I tried to hammer two peices of wood togethor right now...
09:13 PM rue_mohr: I bet one would split
10:26 PM rue_mohr: 2587
11:06 PM rue_mohr: when its overheated it gets brittle
11:06 PM rue_mohr: but, like sugar I think it also has an annealing factor
11:07 PM Tom_L: one video shows 250c
11:07 PM rue_mohr: not for pla
11:07 PM rue_mohr: maybe for abs
11:07 PM Tom_L: whatever pellets they are using
11:07 PM Tom_L: probably
11:07 PM rue_mohr: probably abs
11:08 PM Tom_L: they preheat the mold and clamp it together too
11:08 PM rue_mohr: huh, I was sure the molds aren't usually heated
11:08 PM rue_mohr: their using a hydraulic ram?
11:08 PM Tom_L: lever
11:08 PM rue_mohr: huh
11:09 PM Tom_L: it's some damn kit they sell but shows stuff
11:09 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoSVPHVESiE
11:09 PM rue_mohr: hmm
11:10 PM rue_mohr: they modded a..
11:10 PM rue_mohr: wine bottle coquer?
11:10 PM Tom_L: no idea, i have no sound so i dunno what he's going on about
11:10 PM Tom_L: captions are on
11:11 PM rue_mohr: pipe heater cuffs
11:11 PM rue_mohr: about $50ea iirc
11:11 PM rue_mohr: oh it is a drill press stand
11:14 PM Tom_L: there are lots, just the first one i came to
11:14 PM rue_mohr: interesting, the only time I saw one was a corner shot in a video
11:14 PM rue_mohr: they were using one in a standing drillpress
11:16 PM Tom_L: all i get on a heater search is that stupid plastic tape stuff
11:20 PM rue_mohr: $$$
11:20 PM Tom_L: i'm sure
11:20 PM rue_mohr: and finding 120V ones from china is near impossible
11:21 PM Tom_L: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/110v-120v-Stainless-Steel-heater-band_10000000374378.html?spm=a2700.7724857.normal_offer.d_title.1f767306wMDyTZ

11:21 PM rue_mohr: well, last time I looked
11:22 PM Tom_L: i've never looked
11:23 PM rue_mohr: hahaha
11:23 PM rue_mohr: its the same heat control kit I have
11:23 PM Tom_L: oh?
11:23 PM rue_mohr: exact same in that first video
11:26 PM Tom_L: yours will work find just needs adjusting a bit
11:26 PM Tom_L: fine
11:26 PM rue_mohr: "
11:26 PM rue_mohr: Replying to
11:26 PM rue_mohr: @RueNahcMohr
11:26 PM rue_mohr: In a sense, yes ;)
11:26 PM rue_mohr: - especiall the cooling of the mold must be good
11:26 PM rue_mohr: - must dry the PLA resin before using it
11:26 PM rue_mohr: - before injecting with PLA, use low vosity PS or PP to clean the barrel of the injection molding machine
11:26 PM rue_mohr: "
11:27 PM rue_mohr: well good thing you sent me some PS with the mold
11:27 PM Tom_L: what's PS PP?
11:27 PM rue_mohr: poly steyrene
11:27 PM Tom_L: heh
11:27 PM rue_mohr: :)
11:27 PM Tom_L: peanuts?
11:27 PM rue_mohr: yup
11:29 PM rue_mohr: http://www.dayamachinery.com/injection-molding-with-pla-material/
11:29 PM rue_mohr: hahah
11:30 PM rue_mohr: they dont mention that 3d printing plastic is 70% or so filler, not PLA
11:30 PM rue_mohr: I think the filler is ABS based
11:35 PM rue_mohr: long video
11:37 PM rue_mohr: omg
11:37 PM rue_mohr: 760w
11:41 PM rue_mohr: dont like the way he crunched the wire
11:41 PM rue_mohr: off the heater
11:41 PM rue_mohr: ok, his nozzel will be hotter, like mine (for different reasons)
11:43 PM rue_mohr: chamber was too short for him to have done otherwise
11:45 PM rue_mohr: so, mines bigge
11:45 PM rue_mohr: r
11:45 PM rue_mohr: he gonna use it?
11:46 PM rue_mohr: 250...
11:47 PM rue_mohr: PP
11:48 PM rue_mohr: mine takes less than 10 minutes
11:50 PM rue_mohr: oh he has to clamp it cause its injected on the split
11:52 PM rue_mohr: interesting
