01:09 AM rue_mohr: gnd, vcc, tx, rx
02:15 AM rue_mohr: the only two instructions are mixed up...
02:15 AM rue_mohr: / program instructions match order with FSMIP_e
04:36 AM Tom_L: .
04:37 AM rue_mohr: ...---...
04:38 AM Tom_L: can't sleep
04:38 AM rue_mohr: its time for you to wake up anyhow
04:54 AM Tom_L: what you workin on?
05:04 AM rue_mohr: I got the bigtrak software working on the robot head
05:04 AM rue_mohr: with eye control and sound player control
05:05 AM rue_mohr: https://twitter.com/RueNahcMohr/status/1520323162973515776
05:05 AM rue_mohr: just rewrote the eye control to fix a mismatch between hardware and software implementation
05:05 AM rue_mohr: not testing it tonight tho
05:07 AM rue_mohr: if nothing else, twitter does make it easy to drop short videos
08:04 PM Tom_L: https://hackaday.com/2022/03/13/5-axis-3d-printing-for-the-rest-of-us/
09:09 PM aandrew: boo
09:10 PM aandrew: I accidentally bought a fixed 1.8V regulator instead of the 1.2V (or adjustable) variant
09:10 PM aandrew: the regulator adjusts so its FB pin is 0.6V
09:10 PM aandrew: 1.8V fixed has a 200k from the pin to the internal node, and 100k from that node to ground
09:11 PM aandrew: I can't manipulate resistors outside of the package (on the fb pin) to get a *lower* voltage, only higher
09:23 PM rue_mohr: put it to a negative voltage
09:23 PM rue_mohr: tap off the max232
10:50 PM rue_shop3: ok I wound a whole motor around the extruder thing
11:19 PM rue_shop3: hm
11:19 PM rue_shop3: 1A no heat
11:19 PM Tom_L: took a min to figure out what you meant
11:19 PM Tom_L: pics?
11:20 PM Tom_L: probably takes quite a few A
11:25 PM rue_shop3: nope did it wrong
11:26 PM rue_shop3: the "secondary" is the steel pipe
11:26 PM rue_shop3: its got 1 turn
11:26 PM rue_shop3: the "primary" is the copper windings, its got over 200 turns
11:26 PM rue_shop3: but the copper wire is just overheating
11:27 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1230704.jpg
11:28 PM Tom_L: hmm
11:28 PM Tom_L: out of my realm for sure
11:28 PM rue_mohr: I'll try some higher freq's
11:28 PM rue_mohr: but I'll have to work out an inverter
11:31 PM Tom_L: The supply frequency usually used for the eddy current heating ranges from 10 kHz to 40 kHz
11:32 PM rue_mohr: yea, I think I can modify a center tapped transformer of some kind
11:32 PM Tom_L: https://www.tutorialspoint.com/high-frequency-eddy-current-heating-working-advantages-disadvantages-and-applications
11:34 PM rue_mohr: I'm just trying to avoid needing to attach a resistive heating element to the pipe
11:35 PM rue_mohr: mostly becasue I dont have one
11:35 PM Tom_L: yup
11:35 PM Tom_L: hair drier element etc
11:35 PM rue_mohr: its bare wire
11:35 PM rue_mohr: then I'd need high temp inslation
11:35 PM rue_mohr: and make sure none of it touched the other stuff
11:36 PM rue_mohr: but was still thermallly bonded to the pipe
11:36 PM rue_mohr: bleck
11:36 PM Tom_L: molded in some brick mortar?
11:36 PM rue_mohr: pipe = heater seems to much better
11:36 PM rue_mohr: but would the conduction work out
11:36 PM Tom_L: no clue
11:37 PM rue_mohr: I should not give up on inductive yet
11:38 PM Tom_L: no you just need to find the right combination
11:39 PM Tom_L: but it's quick and you need a way to control it
11:39 PM rue_shop3: yea, thats easy
11:39 PM rue_shop3: I have a thermal controller block
11:39 PM rue_shop3: and lots of thermocouples I can use with it
11:39 PM Tom_L: i got my part ready :)
11:40 PM Tom_L: and i'm sure you will too
11:41 PM rue_shop3: I was wagering to have enough time
11:41 PM rue_shop3: I think I'm still ok
11:41 PM rue_shop3: I tired it, I have a direction
