12:05 AM rue_mohr: I really hate wireless :)
12:53 AM rue_mohr: I wonder if those special config eeproms HAVE to be used with the cyclone processors
12:53 AM rue_mohr: I suspect there is a way to use a standard eeprom
12:54 AM rue_mohr: the boards I have there dont have one of their eeproms on it
01:03 AM rue_mohr: flashing the fpga config chip looks like a pain
01:08 AM rue_mohr: I'll wait to see if I can make it work before buying one
09:25 AM rue_mohr: polprog, didn't LLorens just hack one of those?
09:27 AM rue_mohr: hmm, for the heatproof spacer I could use soemthing like plaster or silicone
09:28 AM rue_mohr: silicone sheet
10:04 AM polprog: Never heard of him, link?
11:18 AM aandrew: rue_mohr> I wonder if those special config eeproms HAVE to be used with the cyclone processors
11:19 AM aandrew: nope you can use SPI flash or even parallel flash if you want to use the pins
11:19 AM aandrew: you can also have a micro feed the bitstream to the FPGA, that's my favourite
02:53 PM Tom_L: i think i'll try using a ballnose on all of it
04:24 PM Tom_L: elon musk now owns twitter
06:41 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reindeer/reindeer12.jpg
06:41 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reindeer/reindeer13.jpg
06:41 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reindeer/reindeer14.jpg
07:12 PM rue_shop3: a few people were ready to jump ship today
07:12 PM rue_shop3: I dont think he's into it to shut it down
07:12 PM Tom_L: can they swim?
07:12 PM Tom_L: shut what down?
07:12 PM rue_shop3: elon, twitte
07:12 PM rue_shop3: r
07:12 PM Tom_L: oh
07:12 PM rue_shop3: nice raindeer!
07:13 PM Tom_L: i'm gonna switch to an all ballnose on the other half
07:13 PM rue_shop3: oo thats some pittted metal!
07:13 PM Tom_L: pics look bad
07:13 PM rue_shop3: (wont matter)
07:13 PM Tom_L: that part ....
07:13 PM Tom_L: what you said
07:14 PM rue_shop3: cool
07:14 PM Tom_L: all ballnose will take just over an hour
07:14 PM rue_shop3: the injection point should probably be near the head, to fill the antlers early
07:14 PM Tom_L: neck
07:14 PM rue_shop3: yea
07:14 PM Tom_L: like a kill shot :)
07:14 PM rue_shop3: heh
07:15 PM Tom_L: no that's lower
07:15 PM rue_shop3: oh, hah, we forgot a loop to hang it by
07:15 PM Tom_L: what i think i'll do on that is drill a hole then chamfer the outside to fit your nozzle
07:15 PM rue_shop3: we will have to make that a feature and provide a noose as a correctional item
07:15 PM rue_shop3: yup
07:15 PM Tom_L: it can be added still
07:15 PM Tom_L: where?
07:16 PM rue_shop3: about saddle position?
07:16 PM Tom_L: on the back?
07:16 PM rue_shop3: yea
07:16 PM rue_shop3: I'm thinking hanging in a window
07:16 PM Tom_L: i'll just make a loop with the ballnose
07:16 PM rue_shop3: k
07:16 PM rue_shop3: looks great
07:16 PM rue_shop3: I hope it works :)
07:17 PM Tom_L: technically that's the setup part
07:17 PM Tom_L: but it's good
07:21 PM Tom_L: i did snap a bit
07:22 PM Tom_L: every time i use the pocket routine i have to remember to reset the Z clear or it will not raise the bit
07:23 PM Tom_L: so i switched to the pocket instead of what i was doing and boom
07:47 PM Tom_L: ring added
07:57 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reindeer/reindeer15.jpg
07:57 PM Tom_L: where the circle is
07:57 PM Tom_L: oh, that's the new cut btw
07:58 PM rue_shop3: oh no
07:58 PM rue_shop3: (your bit)
07:58 PM Tom_L: i've done it before for the same reason
07:59 PM Tom_L: they should honor z clear on pockets but they don't
08:00 PM Tom_L: i knew it but just forgot
08:48 PM Tom_L: gonna go cut the ring and P1 should be done
08:48 PM Tom_L: how big should the hole for the funnel be?
08:48 PM Tom_L: not the cone
08:49 PM Tom_L: remember that cone will keep the part stuck in the mold
08:52 PM rue_mohr: ...
08:52 PM rue_mohr: its the injection too
08:52 PM Tom_L: guess you can cut it out of the hole
08:52 PM rue_mohr: the injection point being a cone thats just a air larger than the tip on the injector (5mm)
08:53 PM rue_mohr: hmm
08:53 PM rue_mohr: it might break away
08:53 PM rue_mohr: I dont think I'll be able to knock off 78 in a half hour
08:53 PM rue_mohr: I suspect the mold will take some work in between
08:56 PM Tom_L: how many you plan to make if it works?
08:56 PM rue_mohr: its mass production, you have to make a lot to get it working right
08:57 PM rue_mohr: how many do you want to send out if I can get them going?
08:57 PM rue_mohr: you said not many
08:57 PM rue_mohr: 12?
08:57 PM Tom_L: i've got an idea for the hole. i'll explain after i do it
08:57 PM rue_mohr: send one to all the peoples ya know
08:57 PM rue_mohr: on the personal list
08:57 PM rue_mohr: (opposed to the business list)
08:57 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr.. rue_mohr .. rue_mohr ..
08:57 PM Tom_L: oops
08:58 PM rue_mohr: haha
08:58 PM rue_mohr: you have the kids
08:58 PM rue_mohr: the wife
08:58 PM rue_mohr: you must have other relatives
08:58 PM rue_mohr: mail them all one
08:58 PM Tom_L: i should focus on this
08:58 PM rue_mohr: ok
08:58 PM Tom_L: redoing the pocket
08:59 PM rue_mohr: I have a lot of friends and family I dont touch base with enough
08:59 PM rue_mohr: I'm not really as much that kinda person as I should be
09:05 PM Tom_L: ok maybe this is it
09:05 PM Tom_L: i don't need this one anyway really it is P1
09:06 PM Tom_L: and i did that one already
09:09 PM Tom_L: it's odd one file is smaller than the other one
09:10 PM Tom_L: mirrord
09:11 PM Tom_L: probably takes 10min or so to generate gcode
09:11 PM Tom_L: lots of polylines
09:12 PM Tom_L: 37585 lines
09:19 PM rue_mohr: :) yep
09:19 PM rue_mohr: and its not even one of those super fancy profile cuts
09:19 PM Tom_L: no
09:20 PM Tom_L: .020" step over on the ballnose
09:22 PM Tom_L: gonna cut the loop and snap a pic..
09:22 PM rue_mohr: hopefully a pic is the only snapping done
09:41 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reindeer/reindeer16.jpg
09:41 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reindeer/reindeer17.jpg
09:42 PM rue_mohr: nice
09:43 PM rue_mohr: the two random dimples are locators?
09:43 PM Tom_L: no
09:43 PM Tom_L: will be threaded holes once i decide what size screw to put in there
09:43 PM Tom_L: to separate the mold
09:43 PM rue_mohr: oh I see yea
09:43 PM Tom_L: i milled .030" pads on the other half so it wouldn't screw up the mating surface
09:44 PM Tom_L: pockets for the screws to dig int
09:44 PM Tom_L: o
09:44 PM Tom_L: i think i got a pile of M5 left from the cnc build..
09:44 PM rue_mohr: :)
09:46 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reindeer/reindeer18.jpg
09:46 PM Tom_L: you can see the blue pockets
09:46 PM rue_mohr: ok
09:47 PM Tom_L: screw them in and push them apart
09:47 PM Tom_L: with that said, which side should have the funnel?
09:48 PM rue_mohr: it would be good if one side was flat to sit it on a table when pressing in the plastic
09:48 PM Tom_L: they both can be
09:48 PM Tom_L: just take the screws out
09:48 PM rue_mohr: so the same side as the eject screws?
09:49 PM Tom_L: it doesn't matter
09:49 PM rue_mohr: k
09:49 PM rue_mohr: then either
09:49 PM Tom_L: i was wondering if the screws might help push the funnel apart but i don't think it would matter
09:49 PM rue_mohr: you preffer your raindeer jumping to the left or right?
09:49 PM Tom_L: heh
09:49 PM rue_mohr: if the injection side is to the back
09:49 PM rue_mohr: :)
09:50 PM Tom_L: you may wanna clamp them together
09:50 PM Tom_L: the other 2 holes are dowel pins
09:51 PM rue_mohr: ||<====
09:51 PM rue_mohr: the two plates ||
09:51 PM Tom_L: i might make them bigger since i have that oversize .250 .252 reamer
09:52 PM Tom_L: then one side will slide off the dowels easier
09:52 PM rue_mohr: are squished with the piston and the tube floats
09:52 PM Tom_L: as long as you have a plan...
09:52 PM rue_mohr: force goes from the bottom plate to the piston
09:52 PM rue_mohr: no idea if it'll work
09:52 PM rue_mohr: but plans can be changed
09:53 PM Tom_L: you can always drill holes and bolt them together
09:53 PM rue_mohr: and I have a lot of scrap plastic
09:53 PM rue_mohr: and if it doesn't want to go in, I have a hydraulic cylinder and power pack (hand operated)
09:53 PM Tom_L: don't bend the mold
09:54 PM rue_mohr: oo the top could cup if I'm too hard on it..
09:54 PM rue_mohr: ok
09:55 PM Tom_L: i thought the injector hole could go in the neck in line with those pockets
09:55 PM Tom_L: ?
09:55 PM Tom_L: or should it go lower?
09:55 PM rue_mohr: sounds ok to me
09:55 PM rue_mohr: I think it should go closer to the antlers
09:55 PM rue_mohr: the plastic will likley be ok with the larger pockets, but have to be a bit fresh to get thru all the thin stuff
09:56 PM Tom_L: overall .250 thick
09:56 PM Tom_L: gonna be a handfull of plastic
09:57 PM Tom_L: how much does the tube hold?
09:57 PM Tom_L: i may rework the cutter path a bit...
09:57 PM Tom_L: i'm a bit concerned
09:58 PM rue_mohr: I have about 2-3kg of scrap from 3d printing
09:58 PM rue_mohr: if it doesn't all come out brown, it could be quite colourfull
09:59 PM Tom_L: i'll use the ballnose on the final pass and cut the bulk with the .125 cutter
09:59 PM Tom_L: i don't think that tiny ballnose would hold up
09:59 PM Tom_L: i just won't take the .125 to the floor
09:59 PM rue_mohr: ok
10:00 PM rue_mohr: what peak speed did you end up with?
10:00 PM Tom_L: on which?
10:00 PM rue_mohr: spindle
10:00 PM Tom_L: the bn was 4500 F6
10:00 PM rue_mohr: hmm
10:00 PM Tom_L: err F5 i forget
10:01 PM rue_mohr: I top out at like 20k
10:01 PM Tom_L: mine goes to ~5k
10:01 PM rue_mohr: wrong power curve for even 1/8" bits
10:01 PM Tom_L: but i got lotsa torque
10:01 PM rue_mohr: when we started we were using 1mm bits
10:02 PM Tom_L: .375 .125 deep full width 20 ipm
10:02 PM rue_mohr: :)
10:02 PM Tom_L: those are alot harder to snap
11:38 PM rue_mohr: ok so, the modified bigtrak software for my old robot head is read for a test
11:39 PM rue_mohr: I also need hardware for the cyclone II
11:39 PM Tom_L: :)
11:39 PM rue_mohr: ah, I'm supposed to make a new adapter thing for 3d printing
11:39 PM rue_mohr: more projects that fit in the ram just now
11:40 PM rue_mohr: just kinda aimlessly cycling between them
11:40 PM rue_mohr: I also have some stuff I want to try with the 1 bit computer
11:40 PM Tom_L: i think i finished modding this cad file. just watching grass grow now
11:40 PM Tom_L: while it cycles thru
11:40 PM * rue_mohr nods
11:40 PM rue_mohr: oh virtual test?
11:41 PM rue_mohr: real..?
11:41 PM Tom_L: sim
11:41 PM * rue_mohr nods
11:41 PM Tom_L: make sure all the paths are in order etc
11:46 PM Tom_L: must have been using alot of memory.. it wouldn't let me do a couple things
11:46 PM Tom_L: had to export the path to a small file, edit it then merge it back
11:51 PM rue_mohr: !!
11:51 PM Tom_L: i'm done for tonite
11:51 PM Tom_L: i'll double check it tomorrow
11:51 PM Tom_L: gnite
11:51 PM rue_mohr: ngiht
