01:09 AM Tom_L: you still gotta wear masks at work?
01:11 AM rue_mohr: I have no interest in exposure to random people in public (at work) hoping that I'll just be ok
01:11 AM rue_mohr: its not a N5 mask, but its a precaution layer
01:11 AM Tom_L: our numbers are pretty low right now
01:11 AM Tom_L: i haven't worn one in a while
01:11 AM rue_mohr: yea
01:11 AM rue_mohr: so
01:12 AM Tom_L: but i'm not exposed to lots at a time
01:12 AM rue_mohr: I have a 1U case taht used to be a POE switch
01:12 AM rue_mohr: has a floating -48V supply and a floating 12V supply
01:12 AM rue_mohr: thinking of doing a new bench one
01:12 AM rue_mohr: the 48V is good for like 6A
01:12 AM Tom_L: what do they use -48 for?
01:13 AM rue_mohr: POE
01:13 AM Tom_L: mmm
01:13 AM Tom_L: i've got a poe adapter here somewhere
01:13 AM rue_mohr: the thing is, I can make a dc-dc to turn -48 into whatever I want as a positive voltage
01:14 AM rue_mohr: trying to work out how I want to drive the fet tho
01:14 AM rue_mohr: I have some opto fet drivers
01:14 AM rue_mohr: china defect
01:14 AM rue_mohr: the low cutoff votlages are wrong
01:14 AM rue_mohr: which is fine
01:16 AM Tom_L: i probably should sleep

03:20 AM polprog: Hey rue
03:20 AM rue_mohr: :) you dun slept, I didn't
03:23 AM rue_mohr: whats cool about that converter, is that you can add as many secondaries as you want, its a forward converter, they will all come out the same
03:24 AM rue_mohr: (+- loading)
10:11 AM Tom_L: .
11:55 AM rue_mohr: lkzjdf
11:55 AM rue_mohr: 9:30

12:05 PM Tom_L: it's alive!
12:29 PM rue_mohr: 2471
12:29 PM rue_mohr: whoa
12:30 PM rue_mohr: I think people liked the little power converter I posted
12:30 PM rue_mohr: sadly, I think its just cause it uses a 555 and people are on a 555 thing right now
12:31 PM rue_mohr: 79 likes, it says 6 comments but there were a lot more..
02:13 PM rue_shop3: stripping down the loveseat, finally be rid of it!
02:27 PM Tom_L: gonna sit on the floor now?
02:39 PM rue_mohr: ma brought me a better one
02:39 PM rue_mohr: the old one has been one the deck waiting disposal

04:11 PM Tom_L: for what they charge, it's some of the cheapest crap on the planet
04:27 PM rue_shop3: 0% love
04:27 PM rue_shop3: I rally thing based on how its made I could do a howto on making couches from old palettes
04:36 PM Tom_L: that would surely spike your numbers :)
04:42 PM rue_mohr: meh
04:43 PM rue_mohr: I'd do it more to say "look, this is stupid"
04:43 PM rue_mohr: gave myself a good blister getting it apart
04:44 PM rue_mohr: just breaking down the wood frame now
04:44 PM rue_mohr: then maybe pour some aluminum
04:58 PM Tom_L: nice day to be outside here
05:31 PM rue_mohr: yup here too
05:52 PM rue_mohr: https://twitter.com/RueNahcMohr/status/1515572905228218375
05:53 PM rue_mohr: ???? 101 likes...
05:59 PM * Tom_L thinks rue_mohr just needs to accept his fame and turn it into fortune :)
06:17 PM rue_shop3: pff
06:18 PM rue_shop3: I really did think I might top out at 100
06:18 PM rue_shop3: ok where is the trigger mold
06:36 PM rue_shop3: we did a lot of A9/10 this year
06:45 PM aandrew: huh
06:45 PM aandrew: 0.4mm nozzle, I told the slicer to make lines 0.5mm wide and my print quality improved in a measurable way
06:45 PM aandrew: also I am almost 100% certain that 45s minimum layer time is not long enough for this filament/temp, where it started delaying between layers on this print you can see a marked decrease in quality
06:53 PM rue_shop3: ok lets try this
07:01 PM aandrew: also, 1000 likes on that stupid rf pic, I think that's my record
07:42 PM rue_shop3: ok
07:42 PM rue_shop3: I cast a bunch, I dont know if I won anything
07:42 PM rue_shop3: rf pic?
07:42 PM rue_shop3: two things I dislike...
07:43 PM Tom_L: triggers?
07:45 PM rue_shop3: yea
07:45 PM rue_shop3: picture comming up
08:01 PM rue_shop3: distractions, keep getting old
08:04 PM Tom_L: you'd be lonely without them :)
08:14 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1230522.jpg
08:14 PM rue_mohr: think any will come out ok?
08:16 PM Tom_L: i don't see why not
08:20 PM rue_mohr: timing the release is tricky
08:20 PM Tom_L: how so?
08:21 PM rue_mohr: too soon and they come apart
08:22 PM rue_mohr: too long and they freeze to the mold
08:22 PM Tom_L: ahh
08:22 PM Tom_L: still spraying the mold?
08:27 PM rue_mohr: till the pam stopped spraying!
08:27 PM rue_mohr: I tried without it at first, but they were sticking
08:45 PM Tom_L: well you didn't waste any material... it can be reused :)
08:47 PM rue_mohr: yep
08:58 PM rue_mohr: ok, hmm
08:59 PM rue_mohr: so I cast some triggers, stripped down the couch
08:59 PM rue_mohr: I'm supposed to deal with that invoice (did I send it?) and strip down printers
09:00 PM rue_mohr: I have some stuff for a bench power supply to play with
09:00 PM rue_mohr: ah the truck charger too
09:02 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, want to make a die for a christmas thing and I can send ya some?
09:03 PM rue_mohr: that goofy power supply is going in steady, its at 113 likes now
09:05 PM rue_mohr: if I can get a bunch of pritners stripped down, I can ...
09:06 PM rue_mohr: should I just make supper?
09:06 PM rue_mohr: 7pm
09:18 PM Tom_L: what sort of die?
09:24 PM rue_shop3: raindeer? star? I dunno
09:25 PM Tom_L: oh i thought you had a file
09:25 PM rue_shop3: I can cast two families-worth of them for us
09:26 PM rue_shop3: the aluminum totally gets into those tiny vents eh?
09:26 PM Tom_L: does it?
09:26 PM Tom_L: i haven't looked at that for quite some time now
09:29 PM rue_shop3: yea, I'm in zombie mode, so I'm cutting flash and stuff off
09:30 PM rue_shop3: see how many came out ok
09:30 PM rue_shop3: only 3 bad ones so far
09:30 PM Tom_L: i assume rev2 is the one you're using
09:32 PM rue_shop3: wow, I might have made 2 years of triggers
09:32 PM rue_shop3: I did some of both
09:32 PM rue_shop3: the molds were getting kinda hot
09:32 PM rue_shop3: had to get a bucket of water after a while
09:32 PM Tom_L: so they both work ok?
09:33 PM Tom_L: i suppose they would get hot
09:33 PM rue_shop3: the new one sheers as it opens
09:33 PM rue_shop3: the new one works better tho
09:33 PM rue_shop3: the sheering causes it to eject the part
09:34 PM rue_shop3: also the sprue spot is better on the new one
09:34 PM Tom_L: the funnel?
09:35 PM rue_shop3: yea
09:35 PM rue_shop3: but its interseting, casting parts with 1/8" rods about 1/2" long would be totally plausable
09:35 PM rue_shop3: like a wheel with spokes
09:35 PM rue_shop3: I have to tap it to get the aluminum in tho
09:36 PM Tom_L: huh
09:36 PM Tom_L: no vent on the spokes?
09:36 PM rue_shop3: ooo yea, some of the early ones are fractured
09:36 PM rue_shop3: well, the aluminum can get down those channels ok
09:37 PM Tom_L: do you preheat the mold when you start?
09:38 PM Tom_L: i have limited steel stock
09:39 PM Tom_L: i have a fair sized sheet of that stuff i did yours in
09:39 PM rue_mohr: no
09:39 PM rue_mohr: it looks like the ones were the mold was warmed up came out better
09:39 PM Tom_L: i can see that yes
09:39 PM rue_mohr: but I had issues getting the first few triggers out, I'd not oiled it
09:40 PM Tom_L: got plenty for a while now though..
09:40 PM Tom_L: got plenty of A8?
09:41 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1230525.jpg
09:41 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1230526.jpg
09:41 PM rue_mohr: see how it made it down the tiny paths to the vent?
09:41 PM Tom_L: yeah
09:42 PM Tom_L: is it warping some?
09:42 PM Tom_L: looks like one side leaked
09:42 PM Tom_L: alot better than the first batch you ever did...
09:44 PM rue_shop3: 78 8-|
09:44 PM rue_shop3: some of them warped a bit
09:44 PM rue_shop3: like I say, that timing
09:45 PM rue_shop3: the flash is ok, getting the funnel off is more work
09:45 PM Tom_L: yeah the larger funnel is necessary though isn't it?
09:45 PM rue_shop3: we should have made a smaller channel from the funnel to the body
09:45 PM rue_shop3: its fun to hit that funnel
09:45 PM Tom_L: heh i bet
09:46 PM rue_shop3: kinda gotta pour all over it while tapping it on the side of the smelter
09:47 PM Tom_L: after trimming do you clean them up on the belt sander?
09:48 PM rue_shop3: yes
09:48 PM rue_shop3: I dont know if the shaker could get the flash off
09:48 PM Tom_L: i used some small wire cutters to trim the tabs off A9 then filed them
09:49 PM Tom_L: i doubt it
09:57 PM Tom_L: huh, my fswizzard app on the phone now has tool cloud storage so you can save your tool settings for a given tool/material
09:57 PM Tom_L: i'm not registered though
10:00 PM Tom_L: came up with the same numbers i had in the cad file for the .0625 ball mill though
10:06 PM Tom_L: i wonder if an aluminum mold would work at all?
10:10 PM rue_mohr: for aluminum??
10:10 PM Tom_L: yeah
10:10 PM rue_mohr: I have a lot of scrap PLA to try to cast
10:16 PM Tom_L: do you bandsaw that funnel off the parts?
10:19 PM rue_mohr: yes
10:20 PM Tom_L: i forgot how you made those before you had the mold
10:21 PM Tom_L: mill then sand the edge round?
10:21 PM Tom_L: or were they plastic?
10:21 PM Tom_L: i doubt plastic would last there
10:22 PM rue_mohr: frist plstic
10:22 PM rue_mohr: and the repairs that came back have a bunch of plastic ones that are still ok
10:22 PM rue_mohr: were starting to see a lot of broken handles
10:22 PM rue_mohr: not sure whats up there
10:23 PM Tom_L: they probably get beat around pretty good
10:23 PM rue_mohr: yea
10:23 PM rue_mohr: I have to work out the last invoice
10:23 PM rue_mohr: hate paperwork
10:23 PM Tom_L: me too
10:24 PM rue_mohr: gimme a part to file
10:24 PM Tom_L: i think i'm gonna go sleep
10:24 PM rue_mohr: I'm fighting the urge
10:24 PM rue_mohr: but its almost bedtime anyhow
10:24 PM Tom_L: eyes won't stay open
10:24 PM rue_mohr: well, thanks for the fun
10:25 PM rue_mohr: I need to make a plastic injector
10:25 PM Tom_L: heh
10:25 PM Tom_L: for handles?
10:25 PM rue_mohr: did you see the ones for a hand press?
10:25 PM Tom_L: no
10:25 PM rue_mohr: oh, its a heated tube
10:26 PM rue_mohr: you load the charge and press its piston agsinst the port in the mold
10:26 PM rue_mohr: I wonder if that would work with the trigger mold
10:26 PM Tom_L: i'd guess you would have to preheat the mold
10:26 PM rue_mohr: dont think so
10:27 PM rue_mohr: huh, twitter is going wierd
10:29 PM Tom_L: gnite
10:29 PM rue_mohr: ni
10:47 PM aandrew: rue_shop3> two things I dislike...
10:47 PM aandrew: rf and pictures? :-)
10:54 PM rue_shop3: pics
10:55 PM rue_shop3: rf and pics
10:55 PM aandrew: I do agree that PICs are no bueno
10:59 PM aandrew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gahKxbwUcYw heh kind of neat
11:46 PM rue_shop3: bneat
11:46 PM rue_shop3: neat
11:46 PM rue_shop3: wanat ot see the pneumatic one
11:49 PM aandrew: I just watched it
11:50 PM aandrew: kind of neat but left me wanting. he talked about the next steps to optimize valve timing but didn't go into it, maybe in the future
11:53 PM rue_shop3: well it also has to be 2 cyl
11:53 PM rue_shop3: ha yea
11:53 PM rue_shop3: he could also do regen braking
11:53 PM rue_shop3: regen
