01:50 AM rue_mohr: ugh taxes are done
01:59 AM rue_mohr: owe about 1600 :(
01:59 AM rue_mohr: I'm gonna write a spreadsheet for this and sell it next year
01:59 AM rue_mohr: $1
02:34 AM polprog: WormFood: erasing eproms in the sun?
02:38 AM WormFood: no. Erasing them under the wrong wavelength of UV
02:38 AM WormFood: I should be using UVC, and I'm using UVA
02:44 AM WormFood: Of course, I expected it to be slow. BUT, I also had an expectation that it may not work at all, so I'm glad it work, even tho it's slow.
03:01 AM polprog: Hm yea it should work
03:01 AM polprog: I have to get my UVC lamp running
03:02 AM polprog: I wanted to try uv resist with etching PCBs
03:02 AM polprog: My problem with the homemade PCB process is the print transfer
03:02 AM polprog: Most of the time the clothes iron doesnt cut it
05:00 AM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
08:14 AM rue_bed: morning
08:15 AM rue_bed: polprog, did you preheat it?
08:15 AM polprog: No
08:16 AM rue_bed: preheat the board
08:16 AM rue_bed: what are you transfering with?
08:16 AM rue_bed: inkjet paper? magazine paper? transfer stuff?
08:20 AM rue_mohr: and how are you removing the transfer stuff?
09:13 AM polprog: glossy paper, im using soaking
09:13 AM polprog: removing is not a problem
09:13 AM polprog: i need a laminator
09:13 AM polprog: i dont have space for one
09:14 AM polprog: using the iron smears out the artwork a bit
09:14 AM polprog: i wanna try UV
09:14 AM rue_mohr: laminators are too cold as they come
09:14 AM polprog: i know all of this
09:14 AM rue_mohr: you put a peice of buffer paper over what your transferring when you iron it right?
09:14 AM polprog: sometimes i did
09:15 AM rue_mohr: it also depends a LOT on the printer
09:15 AM polprog: thats why i want to try UV transfer
09:15 AM rue_mohr: if the fusor of the printer is cold(er) and doesn't have much pressure on it, you get better transfer results
09:18 AM polprog: hm
09:18 AM polprog: still. i want to try UV transfer next time i do homemade PCBs
09:19 AM rue_mohr: did you see my stuff with UV nail polish and a uv laser?
09:19 AM polprog: no
09:19 AM rue_mohr: too busy aren't ya?
09:20 AM polprog: yeah.. loads of uni work
09:20 AM polprog: i have to design a microwave circuit
09:21 AM rue_mohr: hmm
03:19 PM polprog: dang
03:19 PM polprog: it works
03:19 PM polprog: it wooooorks
03:20 PM rue_mohr: :/
03:20 PM polprog: qucs studio FTW
03:27 PM polprog: https://polprog.net/rozne1/ircjunk/various/microwave/reflectometer/reflektometrfull.png
03:58 PM polprog: it work
04:00 PM polprog: so this is a simulation with a couple values of R1, for R1 = 0 ohms there is no reflected power so the measured power is -inf, for R1 = 50ohms its in paralell with a 50 ohm terminated port, so the power reflected is -3dB (roughly half) and for R1=large the reflected power is nearly 0 dB because its a nearly ideally terminated port
05:12 PM rue_mohr: k
05:12 PM rue_mohr: dont you ahve to build it tho?
09:19 PM rue_mohr: so I cobbled part of a boiler
09:19 PM rue_mohr: I neeed a few more parts
09:19 PM rue_mohr: then I need to come up with a firebox for it
10:47 PM rue_mohr: is it inevitable for ALL the good pages on the internet to collect in tabs in my browser windows
10:47 PM rue_mohr: losing the history on a crash is a double sided blessing
