08:56 PM rue_mohr: heh
08:56 PM Tom_shop: i had an extra magnetic base i'm using to hold up a piece of plastic so i don't have to have the big one on top toward me
08:57 PM Tom_shop: makes changing tools easier
08:57 PM Tom_shop: i'll take a pic
08:58 PM rue_mohr: you could almost use some kinda modular fence

09:08 PM Tom_itx: first 2 show the new plastic on the bottom with the new clamps
09:09 PM rue_mohr: ah for small parts
09:09 PM Tom_itx: i just figured that out tonight :)
09:09 PM rue_mohr: so, how you liking that motor size
09:10 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
09:10 PM Tom_L: very well
09:10 PM rue_mohr: is it still a bit small? is it way too big?
09:10 PM Tom_L: you couldn't pry it out of my cold dead hands :)
09:10 PM Tom_L: just right
09:10 PM rue_mohr: cool
09:10 PM Tom_L: doesn't lag at all on anything i've done yet
09:10 PM Tom_L: and i've takes some pretty hefty cuts
09:11 PM rue_mohr: have you tried doing the threading with it?
09:11 PM Tom_L: 3/8 cutter full width probably .080
09:11 PM Tom_L: no not tapping
09:11 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure about thread mills
09:11 PM Tom_L: did i have it when i did the fire extinguisher thing?
09:11 PM rue_mohr: ?
09:12 PM Tom_L: the test cap
09:12 PM rue_mohr: it was a bit out, I'm still not 100% sure which way
09:12 PM rue_mohr: but I dont think I could have chased them from scratch
09:12 PM Tom_L: i have a good one here with a crooked pipe tap :)
09:12 PM Tom_L: his test plug fits it good
09:13 PM rue_mohr: :)
09:13 PM rue_mohr: you should make and sell a few
09:13 PM Tom_L: nope
09:13 PM rue_mohr: I have all sorts of things in my "should sell" pile
09:13 PM Tom_L: i don't have that much of that brass left
09:14 PM rue_mohr: a number of companies list them, but when you try to buy they say they aren't available
09:14 PM Tom_L: it _was_ my sherline motor counterweight
09:14 PM rue_mohr: the fellow who redid the one I'm using poured lead ones
09:14 PM Tom_L: lead???
09:14 PM rue_mohr: yea
09:14 PM Tom_L: did they work?
09:14 PM rue_mohr: its got two big lead weights on it
09:15 PM Tom_L: oh on the mill
09:15 PM rue_mohr: not sure what the forces are
09:15 PM Tom_L: i thought you meant lead test caps
09:15 PM rue_mohr: never messed with it
09:15 PM rue_mohr: haha no
09:15 PM Tom_L: that wouldn't work so well
09:16 PM Tom_L: i've been collecting the chips in a gal bucket
09:16 PM Tom_L: drained the juice from them finally and collected probably a cup of coolant
09:19 PM Tom_L: since i put the new plastic and clamps on, the leaks have been much better
09:22 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, do you think you could slot a few if i sent them without the slot?
09:23 PM Tom_L: i have a few blanks that i cut too thin and wouldn't square up within tolerance and i'm afraid if i ran that slitting cutter thru it would make them come up
09:24 PM Tom_L: i think i could profile them and drill etc ok
09:24 PM Tom_L: if not, i'll just toss em
09:24 PM Tom_L: maybe half dozen
09:28 PM Tom_L: after i run all the good ones i may try cleaning up a couple and see if they're still wide enough
