12:03 AM rue_mohr: ok learning,
12:12 AM rue_mohr: added links to the VSG
12:12 AM rue_mohr: SV
12:12 AM rue_mohr: G
12:12 AM rue_mohr: mash mash mash
12:15 AM rue_mohr: really have to think in layers with this
12:16 AM Tom_L: sounds like it
02:30 AM rue_mohr: yea I cant get POST to work
02:30 AM rue_mohr: I need to javascript it
03:29 AM rue_mohr: its kinda laborious to get everything to play togethor
03:49 AM rue_mohr: yay! its ajaxed!
04:08 AM rue_mohr: 2252
04:09 AM rue_mohr: looks like is was 2248 last time
04:18 AM rue_mohr: ooo, the 3.3V regulator is doing really well considering its only got 3.9 comming in
04:27 AM rue_mohr: hmm
04:28 AM rue_mohr: I cant use the arduino baord I have on it now
04:28 AM rue_mohr: I need access to the serial port, and this has a ch340 on it
04:28 AM rue_mohr: I think I have one with a burned out or not working chip
04:28 AM rue_mohr: I can pull it off and ... do that
04:28 AM rue_mohr: I need sleep
04:28 AM rue_mohr: only 2am, per shame
04:29 AM rue_mohr: I have to take a peice of carpet to a guy tommorow
04:41 AM rue_mohr: ?
04:41 AM rue_mohr: an ESP-01 (small esp8266) is $3!?!?!
05:25 AM Tom_L: morning
10:42 AM rue_mohr: arg
10:43 AM rue_mohr: i'v not really slept much yet
10:48 AM Tom_L: bak at it again already?
10:51 AM rue_mohr: no
10:51 AM rue_mohr: but an awefull nights 'sleep'
10:51 AM rue_mohr: and from what I can tell, the furnace didn't shut down?
11:04 AM polprog: hm, the boiler pump is on its way to the happy hunting ground
11:05 AM polprog: sounds like the bearing died and its getting hot due to friction
11:05 AM polprog: i have to get the replacement from the basement and call the guy
11:05 AM polprog: it's a boiler of theseus
11:05 AM rue_mohr: heating boiler?
11:05 AM polprog: yeah, gas heating
11:05 AM polprog: that will be a 3rd pump
11:05 AM rue_mohr: hey why is an esp8266 like $3 from ali inc. delivery?
11:06 AM rue_mohr: in a chip shortage?
11:06 AM polprog: 16 years of service, 2 control boards replaced (surges), exchanger replaced (rusted to hell)
11:06 AM polprog: its amazing it still works, but thats because it's oversized for this flat and it has an extra size water reservoir
11:07 AM polprog: so in the end it runs for one or two hours per day
11:07 AM polprog: while neighbours have smaller units and they have already replaced them once or twice
11:07 AM polprog: low duty cycle works wonders
11:07 AM polprog: :)
11:09 AM rue_mohr: nice
11:09 AM rue_mohr: I cant remember what I clocked the boiler I did at
11:10 AM rue_mohr: 140 US gal from about 10c to 80c in about an hour
11:10 AM polprog: thats a lot :o
11:11 AM rue_mohr: /:/ I was shooting for 1MBtu/hr
11:11 AM rue_mohr: the failure point was kinda the steel burn box
11:11 AM rue_mohr: steel doesn't like those temps like that
11:12 AM rue_mohr: wow, lots of people like the SVG control panel
11:13 AM rue_mohr: 69 likes for something like that is kinda high
11:20 AM Tom_L: polprog, i oversized mine when i put it in too
11:21 AM Tom_L: rue_mohr, you're just a rock star!
11:24 AM rue_mohr: Tom_L, what I didn't expect is for people who dont really understand the stuff to be following me for it
11:25 AM rue_mohr: I suppose it makes sense a bit, but, shouldn't they get tired of it and leave after a while?
11:26 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/Untitled.png
11:26 AM Tom_L: do they leave in robotics or just sit there?
11:26 AM rue_mohr: yup, thats a good point
11:27 AM rue_mohr: the graphics are an SVG
11:27 AM rue_mohr: with embedded javascript
11:27 AM rue_mohr: does ajax transactions with the esp8266 for button clicks,
11:28 AM rue_mohr: the code on the 8266 sends the code out the serial port
11:29 AM rue_mohr: I didn't hve an avr that I could just hook the serial up to
11:29 AM rue_mohr: but the arduino has a 3.3V reg onboard which helps
11:35 AM Tom_L: esp is 3.3v?
11:38 AM rue_mohr: yes
11:38 AM rue_mohr: the larger ones have an onbaord reg
11:39 AM rue_mohr: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32582736130.html
11:39 AM rue_mohr: they are 80MHz cores eh?
11:45 AM Tom_L: what's the difference with the 'S'?
12:19 PM rue_mohr: heh
12:19 PM rue_mohr: I think its "silkscreen"
12:19 PM rue_mohr: :)
12:20 PM rue_mohr: is that good for a laugh or what?
12:20 PM rue_mohr: I was digging around, I dont see any processor close to that cost
12:20 PM rue_mohr: well
12:20 PM rue_mohr: tiny13 are $1ea
12:21 PM rue_mohr: atmega8 are about 5
12:21 PM rue_mohr: stm32 are about 7
12:21 PM rue_mohr: not good for io, but some thinking can be fit in there
12:27 PM Tom_L: i got some u2 for shipping
12:27 PM rue_mohr: oh yea
12:27 PM rue_mohr: you have the jackpot there
12:28 PM Tom_L: i probably have a random few others
12:31 PM rue_mohr: I'm sure my stock is better than my paranoia
12:32 PM Tom_L: i'm sure it's better than mime as well
12:32 PM rue_mohr: no, that one tray outcounts all my avrs
12:32 PM Tom_L: i haven't a clue what else i may have
02:33 PM polprog: Relay board schem done
02:33 PM polprog: Still have not decided on which mcu to use
02:52 PM rue_shop3: you need io or processing?
03:00 PM m00n: rue, you awake?
03:15 PM rue_mohr: yes
03:16 PM rue_mohr: you should see the cool things I pulled off llast night
03:16 PM m00n: oh yeah?
03:16 PM m00n: I got some soldering to do ;)
03:17 PM m00n: should I come over for a bit?
03:17 PM m00n: i need a spare ide strap
03:17 PM m00n: IDE
03:22 PM rue_mohr: mhm
03:24 PM rue_mohr: wow, yea there is a lot of attention on that SVG interface
03:27 PM m00n: svg?
03:28 PM m00n: I may see you later
03:28 PM m00n: ;)
03:32 PM rue_shop3: I bet you will hit right when I go shopping & to see ART
04:20 PM Tom_L: of course
04:20 PM rue_mohr: not gone yet, trying to code up a clock for me
04:20 PM rue_mohr: kinda a clock, more of a usb display
04:23 PM Tom_L: did i make a bad choice?
04:24 PM Tom_L: machining/mechanical over electronics...
04:24 PM rue_mohr: no
04:24 PM Tom_L: i haven't been motivated to do either lately really
04:25 PM Tom_L: gettin poked again friday
04:25 PM Tom_L: that'll set me back a bit
04:25 PM rue_mohr: you could build up some stuff for a craft sale in the summer
04:35 PM rue_mohr: ok software built...
04:42 PM rue_mohr: wow, the svg control panel has over 100 likes!?
04:43 PM polprog: rue_mohr: it needs to read a buffer fromthe wiznet chip and parse a simple string
04:43 PM rue_mohr: no, it fowards the param on ?C= and pushes it to the serial port
04:43 PM polprog: im kinda thinking if an atmega 16 can do taht because 1) the prof wants to have it running arduinono firmware, 2) i cant get stm32 except for some strange beasts like L0 or overkill ones like F4 anywhere
04:44 PM polprog: i think ill put this project in a thinking box and come back to my cursed 8051duino idea
05:12 PM rue_mohr: :)
05:12 PM rue_mohr: just throw it togethor with inefficient clumbsy lego bricks so you get it done
05:15 PM polprog: the problem is space. i want to see if i can cram an 8051 system into an arudino uno footprint
05:15 PM polprog: extra points for making it noob solderable, so dips
05:17 PM polprog: im considering leaving the 27c256 footprint in and making an addon board that has an 27c128 and a sram
05:17 PM polprog: so that it sits above the now half smallereprom
05:27 PM polprog: nope, id need to connect wr# too
05:28 PM polprog: a15, A0-7 and WR# is broken out, this allows for 256 bits of sram...
05:28 PM polprog: not great not terrible
05:44 PM polprog: ok, broke out A8-A10 too
05:46 PM polprog: thats 1k of ram, a bit better
05:48 PM polprog: A11-A12
05:48 PM polprog: 4k?
05:48 PM polprog: even better. im out of pins
06:20 PM polprog: aaaand sent
06:20 PM polprog: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/896865943416864839/937497011308085328/unknown.png
06:25 PM polprog: goodnight
06:29 PM Tom_L: bye
07:16 PM rue_shop3: polprog, just use NV ram for both
07:16 PM polprog: that's also an idea
07:17 PM rue_shop3: its rom and ram
07:17 PM rue_shop3: there are quad leadless, but I dont think it would help
07:17 PM rue_shop3: what do you think of the wifi control interface?
07:18 PM polprog: it's awesome!
08:55 PM rue_mohr: er, ok
09:12 PM rue_mohr: its sure getting a lot of attention
09:17 PM Tom_L: as is several things here lately
09:54 PM rue_shop3: well I managed to finish my serial 7 segment time display...er
09:55 PM Tom_L: seem to be getting more done lately
09:59 PM rue_mohr: that sleep schedule change didn't do what I thought it would
10:00 PM rue_mohr: I'm still trying to understand
