06:29 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: you know about smoke detectors. We have First Alert 7010BSLA installed all over the house. This is now the second one that complains about battery (one chirp/min). I replace with new alkaline AAAs, and it still chirps. Internal LED flashes green about 1/sec on the unit that I replaced the battery. Others are solid green which is “on AC”
06:30 PM aandrew: I’m beyond frustrated. It’s not like they take 10m to realize the battery’s been changed. The failing units just chirp forever.

06:45 PM aandrew: The battery holder has little metal tabs and they can get bent so they don’t actually contact the batteries. I noticed that with the unit on my table and the battery installed, it was dead which should’ve been impossible
