01:29 AM rue_mohr: ok, I can program low voltage chips!
01:37 AM rue_mohr: looks like I just need to build the high voltage stuffs
02:22 AM rue_bed: so, who is paying for libera anyhow?
07:35 AM Tom_L: morning
08:00 AM polprog: Morning
12:08 PM rue_bed: morning
12:40 PM rue_mohr: polprog, .... chickens???
12:41 PM rue_mohr: ah, you been talking with the6p4c, now it all makes sense
04:18 PM polprog: :)
04:18 PM polprog: sorry, i was busy all nigh making slides about networking stuff
04:18 PM polprog: DSL, DOCSIS, dialup, and the backbones, SDH, ATM, Frame Relay etc
04:28 PM rue_mohr: ah
04:28 PM rue_mohr: that explains it
04:28 PM rue_mohr: they look good
08:14 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/rotary/mount/Rotary_mount2.jpg
08:14 PM Tom_L: well at least i got a block squared up for it
08:18 PM rue_mohr: I burried a soaker-hose under where the raspberries are going to get planted
08:21 PM aandrew: one of the most brilliant things I ever did for gardens was to take that "sock" covered drainage pipe and route it all round the garden, terminating at the downspout with one of those leaf/twig blockers between the end of the downspout and the start of the drainage piep
08:21 PM aandrew: when it rains, all the water runs into that pipe and is distributed around the garden. works amazingly well
08:22 PM rue_mohr: heh
08:22 PM rue_mohr: its either desert or pouring
08:22 PM rue_mohr: here
08:24 PM aandrew: I also hooked up the sump output to dump into one of those drainage pipes with an overflow that just takes it down to the ditch, os that helps the one garden
08:24 PM rue_mohr: ah there
08:24 PM rue_mohr: 3" pipe? 4"?
08:25 PM aandrew: 3" I think
08:27 PM rue_mohr: I have so many things to work on that I'm completely locked up
08:27 PM rue_mohr: I cant work on anything witout being stressed about not working on somethin else
08:27 PM rue_mohr: this is stupdi
08:28 PM aandrew: just pick one and work on it. you have a finite amount of time and worrying about it just leads to more delay
08:28 PM aandrew: just pick one of the list and work at it, that's the trick
08:28 PM rue_mohr: I cant
08:28 PM aandrew: doesn't matter which, doesn't matter how long you work on it, just gotta get started
08:28 PM rue_mohr: I get stressed out about not being at work on soemthing else
08:28 PM aandrew: doesn't it stress you that worrying about the other is making the delays longer?
08:29 PM rue_mohr: to the point I can concentrate on the thing I'm trying to focus on
08:29 PM rue_mohr: oh I know it
08:29 PM rue_mohr: and half the time I"m too exhaused to work on anything
08:30 PM aandrew: sounds like a positive feedback loop
08:30 PM rue_mohr: yup
08:30 PM rue_mohr: I should have had that eprom programmer done in about a week
08:33 PM rue_mohr: its only 6:30
08:33 PM rue_mohr: prettymuch dark
08:33 PM rue_mohr: but I got a good worklight this year
08:33 PM rue_mohr: 3, actually
08:34 PM Tom_L: take simple steps like squaring a block so you don't get discouraged
08:34 PM rue_mohr: ma smashed one with the motorized wagon, so I still have two
08:34 PM rue_mohr: it works till I have something that requires design work
08:35 PM rue_mohr: like figuring out a variable gain amplifier for an audio system that I can use for an AGC microphone amp
08:42 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/rotary/mount/Rotary_mount3.jpg
08:42 PM rue_mohr: middle hole?
08:42 PM Tom_L: forgot
08:42 PM rue_mohr: heh
08:42 PM rue_mohr: I'm helping!!!
08:43 PM rue_mohr: it looks good
08:43 PM * rue_mohr mumbles "less polygons"
08:45 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/rotary/mount/Rotary_mount3.jpg
08:45 PM rue_mohr: holy!
08:46 PM Tom_L: then use .375" standoffs to the stepper
08:47 PM rue_mohr: thats a short coupler
08:47 PM Tom_L: diameter
08:47 PM Tom_L: 1.95" long approx
08:47 PM aandrew: yeah I've come to the conclusion that lighting is super important. not sure if it's because I'm getting older and my eyes aren't working so well anymore or what, but I have 200W of LEDs in the garage bay and probably 100W along the two workbenches in the basement
08:48 PM Tom_L: i've replaced nearly all my shop flourescent with led
08:48 PM Tom_L: and doubled up by the work bench and mill
08:48 PM aandrew: no idea what the incandescent equivalent would be but the two 200W LED ones in the garage are 20,000 lumens each
08:48 PM aandrew: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B096RLJ9KM is what they are, they're quite good actually
08:48 PM Tom_L: i get em from sams
08:49 PM aandrew: yeah I was using the bell+howell trilight that you can get at sam's/costco, these are like three of them in one :-)
08:49 PM Tom_L: https://www.samsclub.com/p/honeywell-5000-linkable-led-shop-light/prod24750364?xid=plp_product_1
08:49 PM Tom_L: i got some spots and a flood outside
08:49 PM aandrew: that's a damn nice price too
08:50 PM Tom_L: yeah
08:50 PM Tom_L: i had one go bad
08:50 PM Tom_L: but it's hot out there in the summer
08:50 PM aandrew: the bell+howell trilight ones have an undersized ptc for inrush, I replaced a few of them with larger PTCs and so far so good
09:36 PM rue_mohr: what I got are 250-400W metal hallide
09:37 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1210275.jpg
09:37 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1210276.jpg
09:38 PM Tom_L: that should be bright
09:38 PM rue_mohr: ^^
09:39 PM Tom_L: ok i got the model brought in the cad cam
10:25 PM Tom_L: plane hit ups truck in SanDiego neighborhood
10:25 PM rue_mohr: it was flying WAY too low
