02:18 AM rue_mohr: hmm my code doesn't like zero offsets
02:26 AM rue_mohr: should be ok
12:26 PM rue_bed2: the laptop has 78.7.0 on it
12:26 PM rue_bed2: ah, but I have the kompozer issue
12:26 PM polprog: hi
12:26 PM rue_bed2: hi
12:27 PM rue_bed2: so, what replaced kompozer
12:29 PM rue_bed2: I think kompozer was the last wysiwyg editor for html
12:32 PM rue_bed2: tinymce - platform independent web based Javascript/HTML WYSIWYG editor
12:33 PM polprog: i heard bluefish was nice but it was just a text editor
12:34 PM rue_bed2: maybe I have to use a document editor and export as html
12:34 PM rue_bed2: but I'm not sure thats the same
12:35 PM polprog: no that sucks
12:36 PM polprog: its gonna look like a word document
12:36 PM polprog: i do my editing in a text editor
12:36 PM rue_bed2: no, tinymce is just a set of javascript stuff
12:36 PM polprog: ah
12:36 PM rue_bed2: then how do you lay out a 7 layer table?
12:36 PM polprog: i dont..
12:36 PM rue_bed2: yea
12:36 PM polprog: why the hell would you need that? 7 tables nested??
12:36 PM rue_bed2: it happens
12:37 PM rue_bed2: complex layouts
12:37 PM polprog: ah
12:37 PM polprog: i stopped using tables for layouts ages ago
12:37 PM polprog: took some time to get the feel of css but its worth it
12:37 PM rue_bed2: so you use super simple layouts or you just test-and-repeat
12:38 PM polprog: for ircjunk stuff i use plain html
12:38 PM polprog: maybe if an image is too large then i add style="width: 50%" in the img tag
12:38 PM polprog: that also allows me to move it to the public part easily, where i have a simple css stylesheet
12:38 PM polprog: which just makes margins on the sides
12:38 PM rue_bed2: http://ruemohr.org/%7Eircjunk/tutorials/elex/ledflash555/main.html
12:39 PM rue_bed2: yea, I'm talking about how stuff is made that isn't just plain html
12:39 PM polprog: i was writing something recently which needed me to put images on the left and have the text flow around them, but i solved that too
12:39 PM polprog: web browsers allow you to edit css as you see it so i experiment there and when i get it right i just copy the changes
12:40 PM rue_bed2: but with a wysiwyg editor, you skip the experiment and just get it how you want it
12:40 PM polprog: yeah
12:40 PM polprog: hmm you have these nice border sprites..
12:40 PM rue_bed2: and kompozer might have been the last of them
12:40 PM rue_bed2: yea
12:40 PM rue_bed2: there is a really complex structure there
12:41 PM polprog: the rounded border can be done in css easily
12:41 PM rue_bed2: tables that you dont just hand craft
12:41 PM polprog: same with the green >'s
12:41 PM rue_bed2: what about when I use one of hte other sprite sets tho
12:41 PM rue_bed2: I have a few border styles
12:42 PM polprog: css classes
12:42 PM rue_bed2: I'd not want to code them ass in css
12:42 PM polprog: not sure about the background sprite of that step number indicator
12:42 PM Tom_L: .
12:43 PM polprog: your layouts are nice
12:50 PM rue_bed2: I use the ywsiwyg to generate templates
01:07 PM rue_mohr: the laptop has 78.7.0 on it
01:07 PM rue_mohr: 52.9.0 is on my main machine
01:08 PM rue_mohr: 78.9.0 is the propposed upgrade
01:08 PM rue_mohr: k
01:09 PM rue_mohr: so I might be ok for that
01:09 PM rue_mohr: polprog, do you think I can work out how to make a container for kompozer?
01:09 PM Tom_L: ff version?
01:11 PM Tom_L: i'm up to 92.9.1 on this pc
01:11 PM Tom_L: i'm up to 92.0.1 on this pc
01:13 PM rue_mohr: debian is usually about 2 years behind
01:20 PM Tom_L: the debian developers are starting to work with the linuxcnc developers to get it into mainstream debian
01:42 PM rue_mohr: 2 years behind
01:42 PM rue_mohr: dependency hell
01:50 PM polprog: rue_mohr: i dont know much about containers.. but it should be doable
04:45 PM rue_mohr: so polprog
04:45 PM rue_mohr: there is a 4 pin led driver
04:45 PM rue_mohr: cc
04:45 PM rue_mohr: switching
04:45 PM rue_mohr: from china
04:46 PM rue_mohr: and, you set the led current with the inductor size
04:46 PM rue_mohr: because
04:46 PM rue_mohr: its fixed duty
04:46 PM rue_mohr: which opens up a whole new view on boost supplies
04:48 PM rue_mohr: I been trying to find the right formulas to solve for the current
04:49 PM rue_mohr: but its continious, so I'm having an issue
05:46 PM rue_mohr: yea I lost the scroll wheel again
05:46 PM rue_mohr: but I know what sensor to look for
06:11 PM rue_mohr: damnit, I was supposed to get a new heater for the coffeemaker today
06:12 PM rue_mohr: takes me a day to recover and then everyone is closed for the weekend
06:12 PM rue_mohr: ARG
06:12 PM rue_mohr: I'v got no ways ot vremember
06:12 PM rue_mohr: writing it down everywhere wont help when its next sat I hav to do it
06:13 PM rue_mohr: and the mouse isn't working
06:13 PM rue_mohr: and the computer needs a new powr supply
06:13 PM rue_mohr: and the phone system needs new caps
06:13 PM rue_mohr: arg
06:14 PM rue_mohr: and I need to jack up the corner of the house but I have nobody to be on safety watch for me
06:14 PM rue_mohr: and i'm tired and just want to sleep
06:14 PM rue_mohr: and finish this eprom programmer
06:15 PM rue_mohr: and play with inductors a bit
06:17 PM rue_mohr: I got the light working for over my desk tho
06:19 PM rue_mohr: open till 5 if I can make it
06:22 PM rue_mohr: oh and sox
06:26 PM Tom_L: you got alot on your plate
07:00 PM rue_mohr: yea
07:01 PM rue_mohr: got the socks and another coffeemaker
07:01 PM rue_mohr: I can workon transplanting the element sometime
07:05 PM Tom_L: why if you got another one?
07:13 PM Tom_L: where's the terminal history file?
08:00 PM rue_mohr: terminal histry file?
08:00 PM rue_mohr: .history isn't it?
08:00 PM rue_mohr: ~/.history
08:00 PM rue_mohr: I got another one for an element
08:01 PM Tom_L: oh
08:01 PM rue_mohr: but my spot welder is down
08:01 PM rue_mohr: I ordered new tips for it
08:01 PM Tom_L: so what you workin on tonight?
08:01 PM rue_mohr: $45 or so
08:01 PM Tom_L: you built spotwelder?
08:01 PM rue_mohr: dunno, right now I'm fighting to stay awake
08:01 PM Tom_L: for the batteries
08:01 PM rue_mohr: heh, I have a miller spot welder
08:02 PM Tom_L: oh
08:02 PM rue_mohr: msw-41
08:02 PM Tom_L: i thought you made one for tacking batteries
08:02 PM rue_mohr: I made one for doing batteries
08:02 PM Tom_L: yeah
08:02 PM rue_mohr: different order of magnitude :)
08:02 PM Tom_L: i'm sure
08:03 PM Tom_L: i played with a spot welder in HS but not since
08:03 PM rue_mohr: the miller is ~3500A
08:03 PM Tom_L: made a tool box
08:03 PM rue_mohr: the battery tabber might be 300
08:03 PM rue_mohr: I didn't get to make the tool box
08:03 PM rue_mohr: I was a year late
08:03 PM Tom_L: then crinkle coated it
08:04 PM rue_mohr: the program had been cut back quite a bit
08:04 PM Tom_L: i don't remember if that was baked on or not
08:04 PM rue_mohr: we did the balancing person and the screwdriver with a cast handle
08:04 PM Tom_L: don't recall the balancing person
08:05 PM Tom_L: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/35/50/ce/3550ce03308d83f2f6f734a98c78ec73.jpg

08:05 PM rue_mohr: kinda like that
08:05 PM Tom_L: that was my GS lunchbox i still have
08:05 PM Tom_L: but the thermos is broke
08:06 PM Tom_L: ahh yeah
08:06 PM rue_mohr: its gone, no idea where it went
08:06 PM rue_mohr: oh, there was a cannon too
08:07 PM rue_mohr: a little model cannon
08:07 PM rue_mohr: cast wheels
08:07 PM rue_mohr: and barrel
08:07 PM Tom_L: https://mathworld.wolfram.com/PythagoreanSquarePuzzle.html
08:07 PM Tom_L: did one of those from sheet aluminum
08:07 PM Tom_L: hand cut and filed
08:08 PM Tom_L: still have that
08:08 PM rue_mohr: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRVupULxXJjM6cire0nq1l1japmOZM-sQh7rw&usqp=CAU
08:09 PM rue_mohr: kinda like that, but a frame made from filler rod
08:09 PM Tom_L: taht's cool
08:09 PM rue_mohr: not seen that puzzle before
08:09 PM rue_mohr: cool
08:09 PM Tom_L: and a giraffe puzzle with a rope
08:10 PM Tom_L: slot in the neck with rope and 2 rounds glued to each end with a ring you had to remove from the rope
08:10 PM rue_mohr: :)
08:10 PM Tom_L: can't find a pic
08:10 PM rue_mohr: I had a thing for wire puzzles for a while
08:10 PM Tom_L: 2 nails you could take apart
08:11 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5oXReTruuE
08:11 PM rue_mohr: I picked one up for my math teacher from oz, he passed away a while ago and I'd not gotten it to him
08:11 PM rue_mohr: ah yea
08:12 PM rue_mohr: got to work out this fatiuge issue
08:12 PM Tom_L: that's why i keep typing :)
08:12 PM rue_mohr: yea
08:12 PM rue_mohr: I have dozed off a few times in this chair
08:12 PM rue_mohr: its painfull to wake up in
08:13 PM Tom_L: i've been sleeping a little better
08:13 PM Tom_L: it really messes with ya
08:13 PM rue_mohr: getting over it?
08:13 PM Tom_L: mentally
08:13 PM Tom_L: i feel alot better
08:13 PM rue_mohr: yea, apparently is can leave you with some problems too
08:13 PM Tom_L: will work next week on a limited basis
08:13 PM rue_mohr: your not dead, thats a plus
08:14 PM rue_mohr: I was gettin worried
08:14 PM Tom_L: my niece is in the hospital now
08:14 PM Tom_L: on oxy
08:14 PM rue_mohr: oh no
08:14 PM rue_mohr: is there insurance for that?
08:14 PM Tom_L: she had prior illness that will cause respatory problems later in life
08:14 PM Tom_L: and it's showing it's face now
08:14 PM Tom_L: i hope so
08:15 PM Tom_L: mine doesn't cover squat
08:15 PM Tom_L: costs too much to have good insurance for me
08:17 PM rue_mohr: if I sub-par medical facility tries to open in the usa, does it get shut down?
08:17 PM Tom_L: i've no idea
08:18 PM rue_mohr: it seems like an emvironment where there should be all sorts of them
08:18 PM Tom_L: i'm sure they have standards to meet
08:18 PM Tom_L: there are lots and they charge out the wazoo
08:18 PM Tom_L: i took my kid in for 3 stitches to his finger and that costs upward of $700
08:19 PM Tom_L: then i got billed for the physician separate
08:19 PM rue_mohr: did he have to wait for 4 hours to get them?
08:19 PM Tom_L: yes
08:19 PM rue_mohr: huh
08:19 PM rue_mohr: the standard wait time in emergency here is 6 hours
08:19 PM Tom_L: we checked in and sat in the lot in the car until our turn came
08:20 PM rue_mohr: huh
08:20 PM Tom_L: if you need 'immediate' care you're better off calling an ambulance
08:20 PM Tom_L: they take you right in
08:20 PM rue_mohr: so, its no better than the system here and you have to pay for it
08:20 PM Tom_L: but that costs alot too
08:20 PM Tom_L: likely not
08:20 PM rue_mohr: even the ambulance folk have ya waiting here
08:21 PM rue_mohr: and med here doesn't pay for ambulance
08:21 PM Tom_L: not hours though
08:21 PM rue_mohr: thats a seperate bill you get here
08:21 PM Tom_L: i'm sure it is here too
08:21 PM Tom_L: they're independent
08:21 PM rue_mohr: yea, here too
08:22 PM Tom_L: we've been pretty fortunate
08:22 PM Tom_L: hardly ever see a dr for anything thru the kids childhood and up
08:22 PM rue_mohr: yep
08:23 PM rue_mohr: I'm gonna try to make a bit of progress on a rom reader :/
08:23 PM Tom_L: :)
08:23 PM rue_mohr: a project I should have been abel to finish in like 2 days :/
08:23 PM Tom_L: avr?
08:24 PM rue_mohr: m32
08:24 PM rue_mohr: with some 595 for address lines
08:24 PM rue_mohr: yes, but the cplds are only 3.3V
08:24 PM rue_mohr: :)
08:24 PM Tom_L: so are the arm
08:24 PM Tom_L: aren't they?
08:24 PM rue_mohr: ... yea
08:24 PM rue_mohr: both are 5V tolerant for most of the lines
08:25 PM Tom_L: never used to have level issues
08:25 PM rue_mohr: 5V was a great standard
08:26 PM Tom_L: i bet if i looked, everything in my bins are obsolete now
08:59 PM rue_mohr: heh, even the new stuff I have is obsolete
08:59 PM rue_mohr: thats not the point
08:59 PM rue_mohr: cant make semis anymore, people need to start looking back and using what we have left
08:59 PM rue_mohr: if you havn't heard, everything is out of stocl
09:01 PM rue_mohr: inductors
09:01 PM rue_mohr: so, lets say I take a capacitor
09:01 PM rue_mohr: and push pwm current into it
09:01 PM rue_mohr: and put a constant current load into it
09:01 PM rue_mohr: er, from it
09:03 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1210196.jpg
09:04 PM rue_mohr: how does one work out the average voltage of the capacitor
09:04 PM aandrew: my experience with emergency service in canada (ontario) is that triage does a pretty fucking good job. if you are in pain but not about to die, you wait. I've had many 6-10h waits. However both times I was supected of having heart issues I had exactly zero minute wait, you were in and hooked up damn near instantly
09:04 PM rue_mohr: er, lets say its 100uF
09:05 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1210197.jpg
09:52 PM rue_shop3: aha, its specifically discontinious, it uses the drop in the inductor votlage to trigger the next cycle
10:00 PM rue_shop3: when the output inudctor driver pin falls below the positive supply votlage, they start a new fixed length cycle
10:00 PM Tom_L: what's this for?
10:01 PM rue_shop3: a curiosity
10:01 PM rue_shop3: I got a 'QX5252" led driver controller
10:01 PM rue_shop3: its curious, 4 pins, you give it an inductor and an led, it boosts to drive it
10:01 PM rue_shop3: no other parts
10:01 PM rue_shop3: but
10:02 PM rue_shop3: in the datasheet it shows that the led current is set by the inductor size
10:02 PM rue_shop3: and, when i was playing with the chip, it looked like it runs a fixed duty
10:02 PM rue_shop3: but it doesn't
10:02 PM rue_shop3: its running a fixed inductor charge time
10:02 PM rue_shop3: then it waits for the charge on the inductor to die before starting a new cycle
10:03 PM rue_shop3: its cool, but its only good to 3V
10:03 PM rue_shop3: wont run on 5
10:04 PM rue_shop3: so, the led is only on about half the time
10:04 PM rue_shop3: runs about 100kHz
10:06 PM rue_shop3: with no load it'll boost to like 9V
10:08 PM Tom_L: huh
10:21 PM rue_shop3: I just tried a few things to use it as like a 1.5V ->5V converter, and its regulation is like 0
10:21 PM rue_shop3: at 10k load pulls it down to like 2.5V
10:25 PM rue_shop3: but the fact that they detect the end of the inductor charge solves the mystery
