12:47 AM rue_mohr: :S I have more than a few shorted pins
04:18 AM Tom_L: one thing that helps is keeping one side's traces vertical and the other horizontal
04:20 AM Tom_L: did the solder balls run together and cause shorts?
04:21 AM Tom_L: can you get different sizes?
09:18 AM rue_mohr: I think so
09:18 AM rue_mohr: I avoid vias as their possible fail points
09:18 AM rue_mohr: these aren't tested baords
09:19 AM rue_mohr: I think when I put the chip on some of them bridged
09:19 AM rue_mohr: I was poking it with the meter and there are a few bridges
03:11 PM aandrew: hm
03:13 PM aandrew: if I have a 75" length of 1/2" plywood which is supported at the ends and in the middle, how much weight can I safely put on it? 75/2 is 37.5", it's 24" wide
03:14 PM aandrew: this one online guide is saying for 1/2 ply it's "1.42 per sqft", wht is that, 1.42lbs per sqft? that seems really low
03:15 PM aandrew: 37.5*24 is 900 sqin, which is 6.25sqft, * 1.42 is only 8lbs, so I'm sure that's not right
07:08 PM rue_mohr: about 2lbs given an indefinite timeline
07:08 PM rue_mohr: it sags
07:09 PM rue_mohr: not like mdf tho
07:10 PM Tom_L: spacex launch in 7 min
07:11 PM rue_mohr: i'll listen for it
07:11 PM Tom_L: in florida
07:11 PM Tom_L: you might not hear it :)
07:11 PM rue_mohr: :(
07:12 PM Tom_L: all civilian crew

07:16 PM rue_mohr: so, hmm what to do with my cpld board
07:16 PM rue_mohr: a number of shorted pins
07:17 PM Tom_L: remove it and reball with smaller balls
07:18 PM rue_mohr: I tapped it a few times lightly to make sure all the balls connected
07:18 PM rue_mohr: I think I induced some bridges
07:18 PM Tom_L: they may be too big for the grid
07:18 PM rue_mohr: they were prettty clear of each other
07:22 PM Tom_L: they would flatten out when heated
10:58 PM rue_mohr: arg,
10:58 PM rue_mohr: I'm awake
