12:26 AM rue_mohr: tracking info on my pcb says its close
03:47 AM rue_shop3: huh
03:47 AM rue_shop3: this toner transfer thing might be warming up to me
03:47 AM rue_shop3: lots of success with a meaningless board tonight
04:42 AM Tom_L: morning
04:59 AM rue_shop3: heh
04:59 AM rue_shop3: not till I'v slept
05:07 AM rue_mohr: tom if your here I'll fire you some images?
05:08 AM rue_mohr: at this rate I'll need more clad!

07:10 AM rue_shop3: tied another one with the blue stuff and it didn't take properly
07:13 AM rue_mohr: the printer also isn't liking flood fills
09:00 AM Tom_L: i never have liked the blue stuff
09:00 AM Tom_L: those turned out good
12:53 PM rue_mohr: yea, and then a larger board would just not transfer
01:14 PM Tom_L: up a bit late working on that :)
01:14 PM Tom_L: board needs to be spotless clean
01:14 PM rue_mohr: I just woke up
01:15 PM Tom_L: i was up at 4 but didn't get online
01:23 PM rue_mohr: ok, I need like breakfast and stuff
01:23 PM rue_mohr: I wonder if I should keep trying to transfer that board
01:23 PM rue_mohr: I can protoboard it easy enough
01:24 PM Tom_L: scrub the copper good or it won't stick
01:24 PM Tom_L: sometimes i've found a piece of copper that just won't take
01:24 PM rue_mohr: well, I also saw problems with my printer ink on thicker lines
01:24 PM rue_mohr: like the flood fills are thin
01:24 PM Tom_L: touch those up with a pen
01:25 PM Tom_L: like ...... dot it on so it doesn't smear the toner
01:25 PM rue_mohr: hah, not gonna bother when its a ground plane flood
01:25 PM rue_mohr: I'm not into hand drawing pcbs :)
01:25 PM rue_mohr: I hand drew my first
01:25 PM rue_mohr: sadly, I dont seem to have it around anymore
01:25 PM Tom_L: and last?
01:25 PM rue_mohr: I do have my second pcb tho
01:26 PM rue_mohr: it a keyboard :)
01:26 PM Tom_L: if you're into boards, proto is the way to go
01:26 PM Tom_L: it's just a waiting game
01:26 PM rue_mohr: hah
01:26 PM rue_mohr: I been there
01:26 PM Tom_L: but you get nice results
01:26 PM rue_mohr: the assembly time is directly proportional to how many wires need to be put on a board
01:27 PM rue_mohr: so it actually takes me less time to etch a pcb than to assemble protoboard (for large connection counts)
01:27 PM Tom_L: i got some damn bug.. gettin me down
01:27 PM Tom_L: no not covid :)
01:27 PM rue_mohr: I have a partial 4'x4' sheet of single sided, I'm getting tired of stripping one side of the two sided boards off
01:28 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, yea, I got hit by a hell of a thing last week there
01:28 PM Tom_L: pisses me off that every illness in the world now is covid
01:28 PM rue_mohr: muscle aches, sweats, chills
01:28 PM rue_mohr: and yea, not covid
01:28 PM Tom_L: aches and cough no chills or sweats
01:28 PM Tom_L: no fever
01:28 PM rue_mohr: it had a bad throat too
01:29 PM rue_mohr: not to the point of a cough
01:29 PM Tom_L: i've got throat issues anyway
01:29 PM Tom_L: from alot of paint spraying in another life
01:30 PM rue_mohr: I was kicking myself yesterday when I realized there was some spots on the truck I need to touch up for rust guard
01:30 PM rue_mohr: wrong weather now
01:30 PM Tom_L: gettin too cold?
01:30 PM rue_mohr: wet
01:30 PM Tom_L: oh
01:31 PM Tom_L: on my S10 i had a paint shop put my color in a spray can for me and did it that way
01:31 PM rue_mohr: I just hit it with rust paint
01:31 PM Tom_L: yeah
01:31 PM rue_mohr: dad pointed out that its hell to get off for a proper paint job, but that rust protection is more important
01:32 PM Tom_L: first time you've ever mentioned him
01:33 PM rue_mohr: lost him to cancer, I really needed more time with him
01:33 PM Tom_L: but yeah a good primer is essential
01:33 PM Tom_L: mine were both gone too early
01:34 PM rue_mohr: shower!
01:34 PM Tom_L: yeah
01:58 PM rue_mohr: its sunny today
01:59 PM rue_mohr: I wonder if it'll dry up a bit
02:04 PM rue_mohr: hmm, breakfast...
02:53 PM rue_shop3: ok, sunny day, wonder what I have outside to be done
03:43 PM Tom_L: nice day here too
03:53 PM rue_mohr: I should probably cast someting
03:53 PM rue_mohr: some bars or something
03:53 PM rue_mohr: generic
03:53 PM rue_mohr: 1:30
04:11 PM rue_mohr: I wonder ... if I could cast an aluminum plant pot
04:12 PM Tom_L: big casting
04:12 PM rue_mohr: 4"
04:12 PM rue_mohr: small one
04:12 PM Tom_L: mm
04:12 PM Tom_L: why not?
04:12 PM Tom_L: might corrode
04:31 PM rue_mohr: it would be good if I used up a few mor hard drives tho
04:34 PM rue_mohr: the clipboard idea is gradually rouding up all the paperwork tho
04:38 PM Tom_L: melt them into bricks and make an aluminum brick shop
06:00 PM rue_mohr: made a few roundish bars
09:07 PM rue_shop3: I just got myself excited
09:08 PM rue_shop3: an idea to make a small wheeled robot, that has something like the basic programming language on it, thats accessable over a wifi link
09:09 PM Tom_L: running on an 8051?
09:12 PM rue_shop3: heh
09:13 PM rue_shop3: I was thinking an avr behind an esp8266
09:13 PM Tom_L: don't laugh.... https://www.business-standard.com/article/technology/would-your-phone-be-powerful-enough-to-get-you-to-the-moon-like-apollo-did-119070200272_1.html
09:13 PM rue_shop3: but interactive programming
09:13 PM rue_shop3: hah, no, the phone is cloud based, it doesn't work above them ;)
09:14 PM Tom_L: more for what was used in the apollo space program
09:14 PM rue_shop3: I'm flapping around wildly here
09:14 PM rue_shop3: I have another temp project
09:15 PM rue_shop3: I got an led light from work I want to use on my desk
09:15 PM rue_shop3: the ballast was burned out, it needs 22V at up to 1.8A - dimmer
09:15 PM Tom_L: https://history.nasa.gov/computers/Ch2-5.html
09:19 PM rue_shop3: I cant find my 24V adapters, their under here somwehre
09:22 PM rue_shop3: ok, I found a 24V 5A adapter
09:23 PM rue_shop3: (its big)
09:27 PM rue_shop3: ok
09:27 PM rue_shop3: so I have a 12V 4.16A adapter
09:28 PM rue_shop3: easy to make a current controlled boost supply
09:29 PM rue_shop3: tho I'm tempted to try to modify an offline supply
09:49 PM rue_mohr: oh, lights right
09:49 PM rue_mohr: boost power supply
09:49 PM rue_mohr: ok
09:49 PM rue_mohr: so, step 1 is to choose a freq
09:49 PM rue_mohr: 18kHz
09:50 PM rue_mohr: 18?
09:50 PM rue_mohr: 40Khz?
09:50 PM rue_mohr: oh god, I'm stuck on the first step
09:54 PM rue_mohr: 40kHz
