06:39 AM polprog: rue_bed: reminding you about armory backup
06:39 AM polprog: :)
10:31 AM rue_bed: oh, hmm, google drive I recon then eh?
11:40 AM rue_mohr: oh duh
11:40 AM rue_mohr: armory was an FTP site
11:41 AM rue_mohr: oh, all the electronics stuff if gone
11:41 AM rue_mohr: cd ..
11:42 AM rue_mohr: wow
11:42 AM rue_mohr: gone, ok
11:43 AM rue_mohr: oooh
11:43 AM rue_mohr: wait a second
11:43 AM rue_mohr: pjrc
11:43 AM rue_mohr: I'll bet he commercialized it INTO prjc
11:44 AM rue_mohr: and took it down
11:44 AM rue_mohr: wow
11:45 AM rue_mohr: it looks like it'll be a great day for casting, I need to hurry
11:47 AM rue_mohr: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aACY_2DPHqAer_0VCwCHBiSPM-ftVoP7/view?usp=sharing
01:03 PM rue_shop3: ok
01:04 PM Tom_L: not loading
01:04 PM Tom_L: finally
02:09 PM rue_mohr: ?
02:14 PM Tom_L: your google link was slow
02:22 PM aandrew: man you guys are really liking your random 8031/51 based boards repurposed
02:24 PM rue_mohr: I'm quite amazed that it was that easy to repurpose a random 8051 board
02:24 PM rue_mohr: no memory map reverse engineering or anyting
02:24 PM rue_mohr: load firmware, press space bar
02:25 PM aandrew: yeah me too
02:25 PM aandrew: I suspect mapping some of hte I/o would be more difficult?
02:25 PM rue_mohr: no
02:25 PM rue_mohr: there is none
02:25 PM rue_mohr: ""
02:25 PM aandrew: what is the purpose of running BASIC on a board you can't do anything with other than interact with a terminal?
02:26 PM rue_mohr: ah
02:26 PM rue_mohr: well, there is 1 port built onto the chip
02:26 PM rue_mohr: thats free
02:26 PM rue_mohr: port1
02:26 PM aandrew: right, so map that out to see what it's connected to on the board and see how hard it is to get that out to something useful for whatever purpose
02:26 PM rue_mohr: but there is a serial port
02:26 PM rue_mohr: yes, indeed
02:26 PM aandrew: it's been an awful long time sine I've looked at 80xx
02:27 PM rue_mohr: and you can use the built in port and a BASIC program to self reverse it
02:27 PM aandrew: for the most part yes
02:28 PM aandrew: or you do what polprog was doing and run through all addresses looking to see what CS# hits :-)
03:07 PM rue_mohr: yes, of course, but you can feed the CS pin back to that port and have it print the addresses to the serial port
04:28 PM polprog: yes, but that requires some more work
04:28 PM polprog: and that requires you to know where the serial port is
04:28 PM polprog: :v
04:29 PM polprog: ok, arguably thats les work than connecting 16 channels of an LA
04:29 PM polprog: but that only works for microcontroller based boards where the UART is at a known address, this particular one is not the case
04:29 PM polprog: but i think the other one I posted is, as it uses some z80 based MCU
04:30 PM polprog: Z8180
04:30 PM polprog: Z80180*
04:31 PM polprog: ding, it has a uart
04:31 PM polprog: https://polprog.net/rozne1/ircjunk/z80/z80disp.jpg
04:39 PM rue_mohr: not really
04:39 PM rue_mohr: what, you dont need to know where the serial port is, its an 8051
04:44 PM Tom_L: U 2 must be thinking the 8051 will make a comeback :)
04:45 PM rue_mohr: it never actually went away
04:46 PM rue_mohr: its embedded in, everything.
04:48 PM Tom_L: get any casting done?
05:08 PM polprog: rue_mohr: for the z80180 it's easy
05:09 PM polprog: i dont know where the serial port is on the board with a z84c0006
06:15 PM rue_shop3: yea
06:15 PM rue_shop3: two
06:15 PM rue_shop3: polprog, but do you have BASIC for the z80?
06:16 PM rue_shop3: that you can just burn and it'll work
06:16 PM polprog: i dont
06:16 PM polprog: would be super cool to get the matrix displays running
06:16 PM polprog: the 7 segs are ran by the controller IC
06:17 PM polprog: tmp82c79
06:17 PM aandrew: https://i.redd.it/gk3b09bcqxi71.jpg
06:19 PM polprog: wow 32k SRAM
06:19 PM polprog: aandrew: :P
06:20 PM polprog: ok, gotta go to sleep

08:00 PM rue_shop3: Tom_L, hey, I got an fpga board for moon, buts its a spartin 7
08:00 PM rue_shop3: and ise 14.7 doesn't support it
08:00 PM rue_shop3: but thats the newest version
08:00 PM rue_shop3: thoguhts?
08:00 PM rue_shop3: did something come after ise?
08:33 PM aandrew: Vivado?
08:47 PM rue_mohr: is that for xilinx?
09:19 PM Tom_L: you need vivado for spartin 7
09:20 PM Tom_L: 14.7 stops at spartin 6
