12:35 AM polprog: [03:45] aandrew: the biggest issue with that is that I have trouble reading my own chicken scratch sometimes
12:43 AM polprog: aandrew: https://zak-leszno.pl/data-matrix/uploads/2020/10/5902277170040.1.jpg
03:53 AM Tom_L: rue_shop7, just hope linux has all the drivers for that
09:14 AM spline: https://learncamerarepair.com/index.php
10:54 AM aandrew: polprog: Does polish have an accent that is a tiny tick under the rightmost leg of the 'A' !?
10:54 AM aandrew: I know of the one in the l
10:55 AM polprog: yes, its the Ą ą letter
10:55 AM aandrew: and Romanian has a thing under 't' but it's a lot more ovious than a tiny tiny tick
12:35 PM spline: what does it make it sound like?
12:35 PM spline: never seen an accent under a letter but not exactly studying/looking
01:09 PM aandrew: well the t with the thing changes the normal t sound (like in engish) to a "ts" sound. Kind of like hte difference in pronounciation between tar and tsar
04:12 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
09:41 PM rue_bed: huh
09:42 PM rue_bed: I wonder if anything purple arrived in the mail
09:48 PM Tom_L: no mail today
09:48 PM rue_bed: hmm, k
09:48 PM rue_bed: I wonder how far along it is
09:48 PM Tom_L: you got a number you can look
09:48 PM rue_bed: might only he half way there
09:48 PM rue_bed: no
09:48 PM rue_bed: thats lots of extra zeros
09:49 PM Tom_L: not here
09:49 PM rue_bed: and I need to save the zeros for the binary computers
09:49 PM Tom_L: you can pay for one but if you don't you get one anyway
09:49 PM rue_bed: no
09:49 PM rue_bed: I thought that too
09:50 PM rue_bed: I'm sure they have one
09:50 PM rue_bed: for insurance
09:50 PM rue_bed: you been sittin back the last few days?
09:51 PM rue_bed: it doesn't sound like the weather is being inspirational
09:51 PM Tom_L: yeah i suppose
09:52 PM Tom_L: i got cutters and drills
09:52 PM Tom_L: drills i don't have just yet
09:52 PM rue_bed: I wonder how the really cheap carbide chineese cutters would compare to your good ones
09:53 PM rue_bed: like, I wonder if thats my feed rate issue over here
09:53 PM Tom_L: i get cheap ones here too but these perform alot better
09:53 PM Tom_L: if you went with a 3 flute it would do alot better
09:53 PM rue_bed: I had problems with the metal sticking to the edges
09:53 PM Tom_L: i always thought you did well with 2 flute on aluminum but i'm thinking otherwise now
09:53 PM Tom_L: you need coolant
09:54 PM rue_bed: yea
09:54 PM Tom_L: or that coating
09:54 PM rue_bed: any more and its got to be cooled
09:54 PM Tom_L: it helps too but some of the alum i have i gotta use coolant or it sticks anyway or i get a shitty finish
09:54 PM rue_bed: aaah
09:54 PM rue_bed: I wonder if thats what I have
09:54 PM rue_bed: come to think of it
09:54 PM Tom_L: i got some .125 to try too
09:55 PM rue_bed: if your aluminum is more brittle, its gonna chip better and bingo
09:55 PM Tom_L: i'm almost sure of it after seeing your pics
09:55 PM rue_bed: huh
09:55 PM Tom_L: i got some soft stuff too i think cause it cuts different
09:55 PM rue_bed: hmm, we need to compare hardness tests
09:55 PM Tom_L: but it would bend easier
09:55 PM Tom_L: the tempered may crack
09:56 PM rue_bed: you dont happen to know someone with a hardness tester around you, do ya?
09:56 PM Tom_L: you'll get your chance soon enough
09:56 PM rue_bed: maybe a metal store?
09:56 PM Tom_L: my friend may have
09:56 PM Tom_L: i dunno
09:56 PM rue_bed: I know a machinist over here who does
09:56 PM Tom_L: he probably does
09:57 PM rue_bed: I'm sure I could get mine tested
09:57 PM rue_bed: ok, I'll try
09:57 PM Tom_L: i know what it is already though
09:57 PM rue_bed: oh, for hardness
09:57 PM Tom_L: 6160 T851
09:57 PM Tom_L: the 8 means it's age hardened
09:57 PM rue_bed: I wonder if any of the plate we ahve here says
09:58 PM rue_bed: .....age.....?
09:58 PM Tom_L: The natural aging, or age hardening, process takes place at room temperature over a time period of four to five days, with 90% of the hardening occurring within the first day. Because of this effect, aluminum parts often need to be shaped rather quickly after going through a solution heat treatment process.
10:01 PM Tom_L: https://www.engineersedge.com/aluminum_tempers.htm
10:01 PM Tom_L: maybe it's T651
10:01 PM Tom_L: one or the other
10:03 PM Tom_L: i think age hardening was an accidental discovery years back
10:04 PM Tom_L: https://www.asminternational.org/c/portal/pdf/download?articleId=AMP16908P35&groupId=10192
10:09 PM Tom_L: i should do a 3 way comparison of these cutters
10:22 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/cutters/Carbide_comparison1.jpg
10:22 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/cutters/Carbide_comparison2.jpg
10:22 PM Tom_L: the center one is the one i just got to try
10:23 PM Tom_L: the uncoated are local 2 flute
10:24 PM Tom_L: further left the helix gets more twist
10:24 PM Tom_L: the left one is highly polished, middle somewhat, right barely any
10:24 PM Tom_L: higher helix, better chip evacuation
10:25 PM Tom_L: higher polish, less stick and better chip evacuation
10:25 PM rue_mohr: yes! the purple is here!
10:25 PM Tom_L: huh?
10:26 PM rue_mohr: I finally got someone to accept a test board design
10:26 PM Tom_L: oh that purple
10:26 PM Tom_L: ian's board house
10:27 PM rue_mohr: and the 9.216Mhz crystals!
10:29 PM Tom_L: the left one is $19, middle $12, right i'm not sure probably 8-10
10:32 PM Tom_L: what did the board do?
10:43 PM rue_mohr: stand by
10:45 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1200184.jpg
10:45 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1200185.jpg
10:45 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1200186.jpg
10:45 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1200188.jpg
10:45 PM rue_mohr: it works
10:45 PM rue_mohr: from what I can tell, a BGA should not be my next target, so, I'll see
10:51 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: you just wanted to put irritating blue LEDs on your boards? :-)
10:53 PM Tom_L: i suggested what your next one should be
10:55 PM rue_mohr: no
10:55 PM rue_mohr: in like 15 years I'v not been abel to get a board house to accept anything from me
10:55 PM aandrew: wow really
10:55 PM Tom_L: no excuse now
10:55 PM rue_mohr: so that was a test using kicad and just sending them the pcb file thru the web I/F
10:55 PM rue_mohr: and there, NOW I'm set to play
10:56 PM rue_mohr: every time I submitted to someone they would say no,but not why
10:57 PM Tom_L: so how long did it take from order to delivery?
10:57 PM rue_mohr: a few weeks
10:57 PM rue_mohr: didn't matter tho
10:57 PM aandrew: weird
10:57 PM aandrew: btw if you haven't seen my wide-eyed gaga tweets about interactive html bom for kicad
10:57 PM aandrew: go get it installed RIGHT NOW
10:58 PM rue_mohr: I dont need BOM tho
