04:05 AM polprog: did you run binwalk on it yet
08:39 AM rue_mohr: no...
11:00 AM polprog: rue_mohr: what was the hdformat.exe on your dos utilities floppy
11:37 AM Tom_L: maybe 720k?
11:37 AM Tom_L: err 1.4
12:13 PM polprog: maybe
08:27 PM rue_mohr: polprog, its a low level format program that does mfm drives, I think
08:49 PM rue_mohr: Wings, polprog posting that semiconductor capacitance test data on twitter just now
08:50 PM aandrew:
08:50 PM aandrew: ooh that's funky
08:50 PM aandrew: wonder how I did that
08:51 PM Tom_L: smellsofbikes is notwhere to be found
08:51 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: sounds like spinrite
08:51 PM rue_mohr: spinrite?
08:51 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, did you get a package from canada?
08:52 PM Tom_L: no
08:52 PM Tom_L: was i supposed to?
08:52 PM rue_mohr: }:] hmm
08:52 PM Tom_L: all i got was cutters
08:53 PM rue_mohr: ok..
08:53 PM rue_mohr: is it still raining up there?
08:53 PM Tom_L: no but it may tomorrow
08:53 PM rue_mohr: huh
08:53 PM Tom_L: down
08:53 PM rue_mohr: cooled off the last few days here
08:53 PM rue_mohr: I thought you guys usually get a hard heat wave up there
08:54 PM Tom_L: it's been hot and back to mild a few times
08:54 PM Tom_L: mid july - august is hot
08:56 PM rue_mohr: so
08:56 PM rue_mohr: I keep blank sheets of paper on a shelf over my computer monitor
08:56 PM rue_mohr: I get an idea I scribble it out, and put it under the keyboard
08:57 PM rue_mohr: can you guess the problem with this processs?
08:57 PM Tom_L: you ran out of paper and can't find your keyboard?
08:57 PM rue_mohr: not out of paper, keep a few reams on hand
08:57 PM aandrew: heh
08:57 PM rue_mohr: and the paper goes under the keyboard....
08:58 PM aandrew: I open a new text tab and type... my problem is I have like 70 text tabs open. thank GOD the editor autosaves
08:58 PM Tom_L: i just emptied the stack under mine
08:58 PM rue_mohr: so I have the same problem...
08:58 PM rue_mohr: but its physical under the keyboard
08:58 PM Tom_L: so was mine
08:58 PM rue_mohr: so, I kinda have a tippy keyboard right now
08:58 PM Tom_L: even the stack out
08:58 PM aandrew: yeah I stopped using random papers and have an actual black notebook that I write in and carry with me
08:58 PM Tom_L: it'll be fine
08:59 PM aandrew: the biggest issue with that is that I have trouble reading my own chicken scratch sometimes
08:59 PM Tom_L: i keep a paper and keep filling it with different ideas
08:59 PM rue_mohr: with me, the pile just gets too big
08:59 PM Tom_L: nobody in the world but me could decipher it
08:59 PM rue_mohr: tho, I suspect if I go thru a large pile of stuff, it only sorts out to about 20 projects or so
08:59 PM Tom_L: upside down, cross ways diagonal back side
09:00 PM Tom_L: if it fails to align it's another idea
09:00 PM Tom_L: and some get circled so i know it's one by itself
09:00 PM rue_mohr: heh, I try to keep a page per idea
09:01 PM Tom_L: waste of paper
09:01 PM rue_mohr: and I try to scribble dates in the corner
09:01 PM aandrew: https://ibb.co/V9HW562
09:01 PM aandrew: yeah I always write down dates
09:01 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/cutters/Lakeshore_vs_Online1.jpg
09:01 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/cutters/Lakeshore_vs_Online2.jpg

09:02 PM Tom_L: haven't done the metal test yet
09:02 PM rue_mohr: wait, what
09:02 PM rue_mohr: same pitch, but
09:03 PM rue_mohr: oh 3 vs 4 flutes?
09:03 PM Tom_L: lakeshore has a higher flute pitch
09:03 PM Tom_L: both 3 flute
09:03 PM Tom_L: online has a thicker flute
09:03 PM rue_mohr: hmm
09:03 PM Tom_L: not polished quite as much
09:03 PM Tom_L: better chip removal
09:04 PM Tom_L: i wanted to see and after i broke that one i decided it was a good time to compare
09:05 PM Tom_L: was there something i should be waiting for?
09:05 PM aandrew: interesting
09:05 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, life is short, wait for nothing

09:14 PM Tom_L: are there variants of an i5 processor that won't run windows 7?
09:14 PM Tom_L: my i7 won't run it
09:22 PM aandrew: really
09:22 PM aandrew: I have never tried to run win7 outside of a VM in the last ten years
09:22 PM aandrew: I guess it has something to do with the ACPI
11:04 PM rue_shop7: the new windwos laptop I got is w10
11:04 PM rue_shop7: I plan to erase it, but its the only thing that can play netflix right now
