12:24 AM rue_shop2: :)
12:32 AM rue_shop2: I find some of the sillyest things get lots of attention
12:32 AM rue_shop2: so I gave up trying to filter what I post
12:32 AM rue_shop2: hmm, that first 3d printer I made does a really nice job when its now screwing up
12:43 AM rue_shop7: I can never remember the name of that milling machine thats like sherline
02:06 AM rue_bed: oh I'm hearing voices again
02:07 AM rue_bed: better go close up the shop
02:44 AM rue_mohr: ooo I could just cast a headstock blank
04:52 AM Tom_L: taig?
04:53 AM Tom_L: tormach?
09:23 AM Tom_L: morning
10:51 AM rue_bed: ooo welding burn, left arm
10:52 AM rue_bed: I gave it sunscreen too
10:53 AM Tom_L: you did _that_ much?
10:54 AM rue_bed: i suppose
10:57 AM Tom_L: A8 easy for you to make?
10:58 AM Tom_L: the spray arm
11:07 AM Tom_L: all 3 axis motors different on the big cnc?
11:14 AM rue_bed: yea, all DC servo
11:15 AM rue_bed: I might have to work out how to do counteracting motors to use some of the ones I want to
12:39 PM rue_mohr: breakfast, then maybe shopping
01:30 PM rue_shop7: ok shopping I go
01:34 PM Tom_L: saddle up and ride into town
03:35 PM aandrew: hm, any tricks to getting RTV based caulking (exterior, white) to cure faster as a molding material? it's the material I'm molding, not what the mold is made out of
03:35 PM rue_mohr: fire up the car, get a good head of steam up for the trip
03:36 PM rue_mohr: aandrew, yes, mix some
03:36 PM rue_mohr: mix in some
03:36 PM rue_mohr: corn starch
03:36 PM rue_mohr: just a bit
03:36 PM rue_mohr: otherwise it'll go off on your instantly
05:07 PM rue_shop7: aaah too many projects that need work, I think I'll start antoher one
05:08 PM Tom_L: keep pilin em up
05:28 PM rue_shop7: ok I set a survival challenge, next weekend, to build a steam engine (not a boiler, just engine, can test on compressed air)
05:54 PM Tom_L: been there done that
05:54 PM Tom_L: also my grandfather made me one as a child
06:10 PM aandrew: oh I think you told me that cornstarch trick already
06:11 PM aandrew: it's already in the mold for 24h now but still wet, we may have to abort this attempt
06:15 PM Tom_L: rue_shop7, don't look to the past, look to the future and make a fission powered engine
06:22 PM aandrew: if you're really forward-looking, skip fission and move straight to fusion
06:22 PM aandrew: and you're up in canada, so it's already cold fusion
08:59 PM rue_shop7: yes but I cant go out to the forrest and get nuclear fuel for free
09:00 PM rue_mohr: There is energy borrowing, but BAD things happen if you dont return it
09:00 PM Tom_L: ok A8 is on the same fixture plate now
09:06 PM rue_mohr: hu?
09:06 PM rue_mohr: A9/10 is the only 1/8" material tho
09:07 PM Tom_L: just moved it down a bit and can run it off the same plate with different material
09:07 PM Tom_L: so once the plate is set i can run both
09:07 PM rue_mohr: er, ok
09:09 PM Tom_L: and it drills the holes for the next part in line so all i do is slide the sheet down a bit for the next one and screw it in place
09:29 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Extra/A8_fixture.jpg
09:29 PM Tom_L: i have 2 locating pins on the left one gets moved left after drilling the holes in the right part then it moves left for the profile
09:29 PM Tom_L: that way i can just keep moving the plate left .750"
09:54 PM rue_mohr: oooh yea, cool
09:54 PM rue_mohr: yea I'm cutting some of those now
09:54 PM rue_mohr: the tiny hole is actually 1/16"
09:55 PM rue_mohr: I dont have enough horizontal room on the sherline, so I have to make blanks for 3
09:55 PM rue_mohr: my offset is 20mm
09:56 PM rue_mohr: looks like you have yours a bit tighter, I had problems with the tabs when I got them too close
09:56 PM Tom_L: no tabs
09:57 PM Tom_L: just profile and hold with a 1/16 dowl and bolt
11:06 PM rue_shop7: I think I'll have to see it
11:51 PM Tom_L: yeah i'm working on it atm
11:58 PM Tom_L: i had to move the fixture holes a bit
