12:48 AM rue_mohr: :)
02:10 AM rue_bed: ok, so, why again shouldn I bore an underground lab?
02:11 AM rue_bed: Tom_L, hows the temp in the basement?
03:57 AM Tom_L: mild year round
03:58 AM Tom_L: radon gas is a concern depending on the soil
12:22 PM rue_mohr: oh yea, someone around here was asking if I knew about that
12:43 PM Tom_L: we never worried about it prior to them coming out with a test for it and i'm alive and mostly healthy
12:44 PM Tom_L: maybe i'll run the rest of those blocks today
01:40 PM Tom_L: Radon is more commonly found where uranium is relatively abundant in bedrock at the surface, often in granite, shale, and limestone.
02:03 PM rue_shop2: we have a modern world that suffers from overcommunication, one person steps on a nail and suddenly their a national hazard that needs to be eliminated
02:03 PM rue_shop2: I cleaned the solar cells working the cooling fan for the shop, its going better than ever now
02:13 PM polprog: im back
03:08 PM rue_mohr: sorry, your still polprog
03:08 PM rue_mohr: would you like to try again?
03:35 PM polprog: command not found. try !help for a list of commands
03:35 PM polprog: im trying to identify these strange chips
03:35 PM polprog: i have 5 unidentifiable
03:39 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, i think it was more a profit scare than safety honestly
06:04 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A12_batch2.jpg
06:05 PM Tom_L: takes 8.45 / 9 min per part
06:30 PM rue_mohr: oof
06:30 PM rue_mohr: I think just our cutout is 20
06:30 PM rue_mohr: gee whiz
06:31 PM rue_mohr: do they do any logging over by where you are?
06:37 PM rue_mohr: I have to go drive
06:48 PM Tom_L: no
06:50 PM Tom_L: i may run a few A3
06:50 PM Tom_L: need to check that setup again as well
06:50 PM Tom_L: we just build airplanes and cut wheat
06:51 PM Tom_L: ... few other things but that's the majority of it
07:01 PM Tom_L: 2nd largest windfarm state
07:25 PM rue_shop2: hmm
07:27 PM Tom_L: which other part gives you difficulty?
07:31 PM rue_shop2: heh
07:31 PM rue_shop2: the heads take 2 hours to cut, I'm sure you can beat that
07:31 PM rue_shop2: about 2 hours and 6 minutes
07:34 PM Tom_L: which is that?
07:58 PM rue_mohr: remember the one you made the shaped prototype of A9/10
07:59 PM rue_mohr: I have the feeds tuned as high as they can be to cut properly without cooling
08:02 PM Tom_L: how do you hold them?
08:04 PM Tom_L: you cut those out of flat .125" alum right?
08:04 PM Tom_L: what kind of aluminum do you use?
08:04 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure the stuff i have will bend well
08:04 PM Tom_L: and
08:04 PM rue_mohr: marine grade, yes 1/8"
08:04 PM Tom_L: i may need a new model since i modded the last one
08:05 PM rue_mohr: we do tabs and screw down the sheet
08:05 PM rue_mohr: it makes it easier to handle for some of the other operations
08:05 PM Tom_L: where do you put the tabs?
08:05 PM rue_mohr: outter convex edges
08:05 PM rue_mohr: I'll take ya a pic
08:06 PM Tom_L: did i send you one of mine?
08:06 PM Tom_L: if so, does the can part fit good?
08:06 PM rue_mohr: yes, the thick prototype
08:06 PM Tom_L: iirc you were grinding that step
08:06 PM rue_mohr: the problem is that they cant be made easy enough, and the other ones are working
08:07 PM Tom_L: no, i just wanted to know if that end fit ok
08:07 PM Tom_L: i'll fix it like you make them
08:11 PM Tom_L: i have one i cut i can measure the can lip part
08:11 PM Tom_L: i don't have one with the tabs that you bend
08:12 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1200124.jpg
08:12 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1200125.jpg
08:12 PM Tom_L: you saw them apart after cutting?
08:13 PM rue_mohr: the thing part shoudl be, 0.6mm to 0.95mm but we lean on the heavy side
08:13 PM rue_mohr: yes
08:13 PM rue_mohr: becasue we have to drill holes and stuff
08:13 PM rue_mohr: its easier when its still on the plate
08:13 PM Tom_L: so if i sent them like that, that would be good?
08:13 PM rue_mohr: sure
08:14 PM Tom_L: do you have the dwg of that profile?
08:14 PM rue_mohr: I just made 20
08:14 PM Tom_L: with the step for the can
08:14 PM rue_mohr: somewhere, I can dig it up
08:14 PM Tom_L: i can throw that into catia and give it 3d then export it to the cad cam
08:14 PM rue_mohr: yep
08:14 PM Tom_L: i wonder if a .187 cutter would be ok on that
08:15 PM Tom_L: instead of .125
08:15 PM rue_mohr: I'v been pondering moving A10 out and having it mostly divide them too, but we just take them to the bandsaw, its quick
08:15 PM Tom_L: did i send you one of each?
08:15 PM rue_mohr: that slot radius is tight
08:15 PM rue_mohr: I'd have to check, I think you did
08:16 PM Tom_L: my A10 should be ok
08:16 PM Tom_L: ok i found that file
08:16 PM Tom_L: no need to send it
08:16 PM Tom_L: except i dunno if the step is part of it or if i need to add it
08:18 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1200124.jpg
08:18 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1200125.jpg
08:18 PM rue_mohr: I didn't paste the links, I'm losing it
08:18 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A12_New/A9-A10-model.jpg
08:18 PM rue_mohr: no
08:19 PM Tom_L: then i need another one
08:19 PM rue_mohr: its been modified for a 1/8" bit and the front tabs were removed
08:19 PM rue_mohr: yep, let me dig a bit later
08:19 PM Tom_L: i may try to use a .187 cutter
08:19 PM rue_mohr: I'm just about to head out to help deal with fixing ma's AC
08:19 PM rue_mohr: I could send you a few 1/8"
08:19 PM Tom_L: ok
08:19 PM Tom_L: naw
08:20 PM rue_mohr: the overcut needs to be larger on my side here
08:20 PM rue_mohr: see there is some foil left in parts of the cut
08:20 PM rue_mohr: oh and we added the teeth
08:21 PM rue_mohr: see on the inside right?
08:21 PM rue_mohr: the two points?
08:21 PM rue_mohr: heh, there is probably a liter of shavings in that machine right now, I need to clean it out
08:22 PM rue_mohr: I'm workin it really hard
08:22 PM Tom_L: phone
08:22 PM rue_mohr: dingalingaling
08:22 PM Tom_L: ok
08:22 PM Tom_L: which overcut are you talking about?
08:22 PM rue_mohr: you want to see the gcode file for the machine here?
08:23 PM rue_mohr: the thru
08:23 PM Tom_L: no i don't need gcode
08:23 PM rue_mohr: see how bits dont seem completely cut?
08:23 PM Tom_L: yeah tabs
08:23 PM rue_mohr: no, foil
08:23 PM Tom_L: hun?
08:23 PM rue_mohr: yes there are tabs, but there is foil too
08:23 PM Tom_L: i don't see that
08:23 PM rue_mohr: its so thin you can cut it with a pen knife
08:23 PM Tom_L: i see the step for the can
08:24 PM rue_mohr: but the overcut should be higher
08:24 PM rue_mohr: look over the profile cut
08:24 PM rue_mohr: gtg
08:24 PM Tom_L: you need bigger pics :)
08:24 PM Tom_L: bye
08:26 PM Tom_L: i might just machine that pocket out where the 2 are joined (the roundish part)
08:26 PM Tom_L: might be quicker here
08:26 PM Tom_L: i can cut the full depth so it shouldn't take too long
08:27 PM Tom_L: profile it with the bigger .187 cutter then if those shoulder corners need to be sharper i can clean them out with a smaller cutter after the profile
10:20 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A9_New/A9_merge.jpg
10:20 PM Tom_L: so what i did was merge your old one with mine
10:20 PM Tom_L: the blue is mine
10:21 PM Tom_L: so if i trim the tabs off the right and shorten mine to the left tab that should be the new part.... right?
10:37 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A9_New/A9_new_merge.jpg
10:37 PM Tom_L: like that?
