01:55 AM rue_bed: ok, so osh park takes the kicad files direct
02:01 AM rue_bed: no messing with scripts that are supposed to generate the right set of files but dont
02:01 AM rue_bed: so I took the test board that I did and ordered them
02:01 AM rue_bed: total for 3 boards is 0.85
02:01 AM rue_bed: not sure how they pull that off, but ok
04:12 AM Tom_L: rue_bed, they optimize the board space across many orders
04:13 AM Tom_L: started by a portland robotics group member
07:39 AM rue_mohr: yes, the but e board and shipping to me for 0.85
10:49 AM aandrew_ is now known as aandrew
11:06 AM Tom_L: rue_mohr, are you complaining?
11:29 AM spline: does mcafee cause your pc to hang, or too soon?
11:29 AM Tom_L: i don't use it
11:30 AM Tom_L: worried about virus use malwarebytes along with spybot
11:30 AM Tom_L: both have free versions
11:33 AM Tom_L: John McAfee found dead in Spanish prison after his extradition to the US was approved
11:33 AM Tom_L: i don't use mcafee :)
11:33 AM spline: that's the joke :)
12:25 PM polprog: lol
12:40 PM polprog: 08:36 < rue_bed> not sure how they pull that off, but ok
12:40 PM polprog: They just collect all the board sent that week and run a panel at the board house
12:41 PM polprog: hence why they dont give you a choice for copper weight, or mask color
12:41 PM polprog: id use them too, but the shipping cost is crazy
01:49 PM Tom_L: the mask is a tracking mechanism
07:06 PM rue_mohr: yes, but then they have to mail it to me
07:06 PM rue_mohr: for less than 85c
07:08 PM Tom_L: it's the law of averages
07:08 PM Tom_L: win more than you loose
07:08 PM Tom_L: lose*
07:08 PM Tom_L: found some more .250 material
07:09 PM Tom_L: we'll see what happens to it
07:09 PM Tom_L: they had some brass cutoffs too so i grabbed a couple
07:09 PM Tom_L: they don't get them very often
07:10 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBeOgGt_oWU
07:11 PM Tom_L: just the opening
07:11 PM Tom_L: never seen one of those
07:20 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, they used to send me free crap with board orders...
07:20 PM Tom_L: breakout boards etc
07:23 PM rue_shop3: nice
07:45 PM rue_mohr: tom hahah wow
07:45 PM rue_mohr: that vise
07:46 PM rue_mohr: when doyou think that is from!?
07:46 PM rue_mohr: 1913
07:46 PM rue_mohr: oof
07:50 PM Tom_L: dunno, i've never seen one before
08:48 PM Tom_L: you gonna make one??
08:48 PM Tom_L: :)
08:49 PM rue_mohr: heck no
08:49 PM rue_mohr: where is my todo list
08:49 PM Tom_L: who comes up with stuff like that is beyond me
08:50 PM rue_mohr: I wonder if I can come up with cooling insoles this weekend
08:50 PM Tom_L: warmin up?
08:50 PM rue_mohr: I'm supposed to do a DAC/ADC for a wifi walkie talkie tho
08:50 PM rue_mohr: its just starting to
08:51 PM Tom_L: ~100 today
10:19 PM rue_mohr: so, if that board order works out for me
10:21 PM Tom_L: what was on it?
10:21 PM rue_mohr: led, resistor, connector
10:21 PM rue_mohr: I didn't bother with anything usefull
10:22 PM rue_mohr: my goal was to get a damned board house to accept a board from me
10:22 PM rue_mohr: and I'd already bought a pre-designed board from osh
10:22 PM Tom_L: heh
10:22 PM rue_mohr: :)
10:22 PM Tom_L: it's not _that_ difficult!
10:22 PM rue_mohr: yes
10:22 PM Tom_L: what was the predesigned one?
10:23 PM rue_mohr: because I followed lots of painfull instructions twice and the board houses rejected my designs and THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME WHY
10:23 PM rue_mohr: it was an R-2R DAC
10:23 PM Tom_L: it's a bit harder now because gcpreview isn't free anymore
10:23 PM Tom_L: it checked the output files for errors
10:23 PM rue_mohr: dicad went smoothly
10:23 PM Tom_L: good
10:24 PM Tom_L: i'm sure they're used to dealing with it
10:24 PM rue_mohr: osh actually just accepts the .pcb file and splits it up on their end
