12:17 AM rue_mohr: hmm, there are no cell phone screen to normal adapters
12:24 AM rue_mohr: I have two dead samsung phones (new demo ones)
12:24 AM rue_mohr: might be interesting to use the screens from them
03:27 AM polprog: these screens use mipi most likely
03:27 AM polprog: closed protocol
08:32 AM rue_bed2: but they say the protocol right in the document I ahve for the screen
08:35 AM Tom_L: morning
09:11 AM rue_mohr: mornign
09:21 AM polprog: if you have all the data then the hardest part is probably finding the connector
09:21 AM polprog: some nice early ECAD footage at 1 min mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0nrlPP7-gM
09:25 AM rue_mohr: this one is the standard 0.5mm cable
09:36 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: http://mixdown.ca/dump/VESA%20TV%20Panels%20Standard.pdf might be of interest to you
09:37 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: any phone screen you likely want to use (i.e. not 1990s Nokia) will be MIPI DSI
09:38 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: formatting for LVDT page? well just from a very high level, the schematic, some pictures of what you put together of course, and what you found driving it sine vs triangle (IIRC you really liked triangle becuase hte output was DC?)
09:38 AM rue_mohr: hmm
09:38 AM aandrew: polprog: MIPI DSI is "closed" in theory but it's easy to find the spec and examples of how to drive it
09:38 AM rue_mohr: no I mean a page thats formatted in a good way to present the project
09:38 AM aandrew: high-end STM32s have a DSI port on them and can drive them natively
09:39 AM rue_mohr: html style wise
09:39 AM rue_mohr: /css
09:39 AM aandrew: oh man... um
09:40 AM rue_mohr: heh, you thought I meant something else, and I'm just looking for a format for the page
09:41 AM polprog: aandrew: oh, yeah i saw the mipi standard myself but theres also loads of other screen specific stuffs
09:41 AM polprog: im not sure if you only need to power the screen and throw dsi data on it
09:41 AM aandrew: polprog: such as? I mean there will be vendor specific bits but you (in theory) should be able to get a picture up without going too weird
09:41 AM polprog: hmm
09:42 AM polprog: the only example I know is the ipod nano display hacks by mike
09:42 AM aandrew: polprog: there are a set of standard commands
09:42 AM aandrew: yes that's the main one, but some examples are also in the STM32F...767? demos
09:44 AM polprog: I wanted to do the opposite the other day
09:44 AM polprog: found the cheapest camera module on ali, it was some samsung one
09:45 AM polprog: even found the service manual which specified the module pinout
09:45 AM aandrew: yep I'm doing that as one of my contracts
09:45 AM polprog: but i never got around to doing that
09:45 AM polprog: ooh, neat
09:45 AM aandrew: bunch of different camera modules, all MIPI, feeding into an i.MX8
09:46 AM rue_mohr: hmm
09:46 AM rue_mohr: drat I ahve to get to work
09:46 AM aandrew: similar - MIPI CSI is a standard, but the I2C control driving the cameras is all proprietary and black magic outside of a very simple register set that all cameras publish
09:46 AM rue_mohr: im on R9 of the db9 shell adapter for dupont...
09:46 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: indeed; working is always getting in the way of geeking out
09:47 AM polprog: rue_mohr check out my new dmm
09:47 AM aandrew: I always liked the saying about "alchemists always knew they could not transmute lead to gold; they only stated that as their goal so they could have wealthy patrons"
09:47 AM rue_mohr: see if you can find a page you like the format of for the informational about my lvdt stuff
09:47 AM polprog: its not always about the goal
09:48 AM polprog: https://twitter.com/polprogpl/status/1399275346118205447
09:48 AM rue_mohr: wow
09:48 AM rue_mohr: I think I passed that, didn't notice the number of places on it
09:56 AM aandrew: polprog: nice DMMs!
09:56 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: will do
09:56 AM aandrew: I've seens ome pages whose formats I love but of course nothing is coming to mind
04:27 PM rue_mohr: ... find any?
07:05 PM Tom_L: any what?
07:05 PM Tom_L: no but i'll keep lookin....
07:37 PM rue_shop1: webpages for me to use for formatting on a document that goes over how I was driving linear variable differential transofrmers
07:39 PM Tom_L: asciidoc?
07:40 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/emc/xilinx/xilinx14_install_index.php
07:40 PM Tom_L: that's what that is iirc
07:44 PM rue_mohr: hmmm
07:44 PM rue_mohr: was pondering something dressed a bit more..
07:50 PM Tom_L: it was simple
07:59 PM rue_mohr: hmmm
08:00 PM rue_mohr: After this operation, 728 MB of additional disk space will be used
08:00 PM rue_mohr: not bad...
08:03 PM Tom_L: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/
08:03 PM Tom_L: also asciidoc iirc
08:10 PM rue_mohr: they probably have source for that somewhere
08:11 PM rue_mohr: sourceforge eh??
08:13 PM Tom_L: i think it may have been yes
08:14 PM Tom_L: https://asciidoc.org/
08:17 PM rue_mohr: looking for an actual real example
08:18 PM rue_mohr: :) I was partially looking for a writing style too, but thats ok
08:18 PM Tom_L: look at their page source
08:19 PM rue_mohr: yea
08:19 PM rue_mohr: finding it
08:19 PM Tom_L: they show it
08:19 PM Tom_L: https://asciidoc.org/index.txt
08:20 PM Tom_L: i might have mine somewhere
08:23 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure where though
08:24 PM Tom_L: you can always view source
08:57 PM rue_mohr: I wonder if I should make a droppoint folder for stls
08:57 PM rue_mohr: where you want to print an stl, so you drop it into a network folder and its all auto done
10:26 PM rue_mohr: the hdmi capture arrived!!!
10:31 PM rue_mohr: I wonder if it can take in one of those wire-only vga to hdmi cables
10:33 PM rue_mohr: hahahah
10:33 PM rue_mohr: the composite to hdmi converter arrived too!
10:33 PM rue_mohr: ahahahha
10:33 PM rue_mohr: not supposed to be related
10:34 PM rue_mohr: ah, and the 40 to 50 pin converters
10:35 PM rue_mohr: er, to 60
10:38 PM rue_mohr: https://archive.org/details/funway_into_electronics/funway_into_electronics_vol_2_5th_printing/page/n97/mode/2up
10:38 PM rue_mohr: does that link come up as page 96?
10:38 PM rue_mohr: polprog,
10:45 PM Tom_L: looks like it
10:45 PM rue_mohr: polprog, was playing with a level meter like that
10:46 PM rue_mohr: I wanted to say that a uln2803 would cut the size of it a lot
10:47 PM rue_mohr: 50 to 60 pin
10:53 PM rue_mohr: ok , I have 2 esp32
10:53 PM rue_mohr: why did I get them?
10:53 PM rue_mohr: I think it was something about video output
