12:22 AM rue_mohr: !??!?!
12:29 AM rue_mohr: "tin strip" on ali pulls up solder braid
12:29 AM rue_mohr: ok!?
12:32 AM rue_mohr: I wonder if I can do good nickel etching
12:34 AM rue_mohr: mmm google article with someone using toner and electro-etching
01:14 AM rue_mohr: darkrose, what do you have for workspace right now?
01:15 AM darkrose: I don't
01:16 AM rue_mohr: ouch
01:18 AM darkrose: housemate says I can have a bay of his workshop (makes theatre/larp/etc props) to use, but that's going backwards at the moment as his parents just brought up a trailer load of junk for him to sort through
01:24 AM rue_mohr: which state you in?
01:24 AM rue_mohr: or province
01:24 AM rue_mohr: state?
01:25 AM darkrose: queensland, in the general sprawl of brisbane
01:25 AM rue_mohr: I knew a guy in nsw, but be moved
01:25 AM rue_mohr: two
01:25 AM rue_mohr: they both moved :/
02:47 AM rue_mohr: I wonder what xplds are supported by that xilinx thing
03:20 AM rue_shop1: vqfp64
03:21 AM rue_shop1: 0.5mm
04:22 AM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
04:22 AM Tom_L: what's up?
02:51 PM rue_shop2: hmm
02:53 PM rue_shop2: https://i.4cdn.org/pol/1621657631367.png
03:26 PM Tom_L: congratulations you've won 'top tier' awards at xxx! ... in other words you're spending entirely too damn much money with us!
03:28 PM Tom_L: what's even worse is that's not the only one
03:30 PM aandrew: hah
03:30 PM aandrew: yeah we get rewards at costco and zehrs (groceries)
03:30 PM aandrew: I have like $160 credit at the latter
07:00 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1190683.jpg
07:00 PM rue_mohr: I removed a diode from the design!
07:31 PM Tom_L: ok upgraded the mill software to the latest
07:32 PM rue_shop1: k
07:32 PM rue_shop1: whats new about it
07:32 PM Tom_L: rather uneventful
07:32 PM Tom_L: lots of things
07:32 PM rue_shop1: polprog, so, I tried that really low component count converter in a larger version, for a guy a 12V ->9V 2A, fail
07:33 PM Tom_L: i likely won't notice a difference
07:33 PM rue_shop1: so...
07:33 PM rue_shop1: what if they messed something up?
08:04 PM rue_shop1: ah, I had a design flaw too
08:04 PM rue_shop1: the circuit can output 3V, not efficiently
08:04 PM rue_shop1: but that 3V cant be used to subtract off 12V
09:13 PM Tom_L: i tried it earlier on a spare ssd
09:13 PM Tom_L: to make sure before i committed to it
09:13 PM Tom_L: i can uninstall and revert back if needed but i think it's fine
09:14 PM Tom_L: i dry ran both programs for that part to make sure it ran
09:17 PM Tom_L: http://linuxcnc.org/2020/09/08/LinuxCNC-2.8.0/
09:17 PM Tom_L: you asked what they changed ^^
09:18 PM Tom_L: i tested the rapid retract after a G33.1 rigid tap cycle a while back
09:19 PM rue_shop1: well there!
09:20 PM Tom_L: quite a few really
09:29 PM Tom_L: get anywhere with your large cnc?
09:56 PM rue_mohr: no I had a buddy hit me with a distraction this forming
09:56 PM rue_mohr: morning
09:56 PM rue_mohr: a 12V to 9V converter, output 2A
09:58 PM Tom_L: for what?
09:58 PM rue_mohr: some toy
09:58 PM Tom_L: mmm
09:58 PM rue_mohr: my strange dc-dc are all failing
09:58 PM rue_mohr: for different reasons
09:59 PM rue_mohr: I think I need to just use a buck regulator on it
09:59 PM Tom_L: easier
09:59 PM Tom_L: they're only a couple bucks online
09:59 PM rue_mohr: yes and no
10:01 PM Tom_L: i've got 40 tools in my cad cam & mill tool inventory now
10:01 PM Tom_L: and i've been going thru them slowly adjusting the chip loads etc so i don't have to slow them down at the mill
10:01 PM Tom_L: can run 100% on the ones i've fixed
10:02 PM Tom_L: i ran your whole program at 100%
10:02 PM rue_mohr: :S
10:02 PM rue_mohr: not gonna break anything I hope
10:03 PM Tom_L: naw
10:03 PM Tom_L: i actually went fairly conservative
10:03 PM Tom_L: but when i first built the mill i was of the 'sherline' mindset
11:52 PM rue_mohr: random project 12V to 9V converter, 2A
