01:46 AM rue_mohr: I have a 7.3728Mhz crystal, which is just gonna work out
01:53 AM rue_mohr: and i'm ordering 40 from aliexpress
04:22 AM rue_mohr: drat, no, I want 9.216Mhz
06:05 AM polprog: i wonder how can i generate 100-ishMHz easily
10:59 AM polprog: i got some high speed transistors
11:00 AM polprog: 2n4416 and bsy62
12:23 PM aandrew: I have a few VHF transistors, was trying to build a FM amplifier
12:23 PM aandrew: I have some FM tx/rx designs I made which have TERRIBLE range and could not get it resolved
12:44 PM rue_: cool
12:44 PM rue_: they really sharpen up oscillators
12:44 PM rue_: I found a 2Ghz one from the cathode of a multisync monitor
12:45 PM rue_ is now known as rue_mohr
12:47 PM polprog: wow, neat
12:47 PM polprog: i played around in spice a bit, but i have to read up on jfet usage
12:47 PM polprog: what's the proper base bias
12:48 PM polprog: i managed to simulate a mixer, but i can get it to make an output amplifier for the mixer
12:56 PM aandrew: ... a 2GHz oscillator?
12:56 PM aandrew: oh no a 2GHz transistor
12:56 PM aandrew: that seems way way way overkill for a monitor
12:58 PM aandrew: lovely
12:59 PM aandrew: this FTDI RS422 adapter does not seem to actaully implment even/odd parity correctly
12:59 PM aandrew: I thought FTDI chips were good for that
01:15 PM rue_mohr: it was a high def crt
02:11 PM MoonyMoon: Hay rue_mohr can you print this out for me just a thin test layer ??
02:11 PM MoonyMoon: https://paste.debian.net/1195138/
02:11 PM MoonyMoon: DXF
02:12 PM rue_mohr: heh
02:12 PM rue_mohr: it a dxf
02:14 PM rue_mohr: template eh?
02:14 PM rue_mohr: 95mm
02:38 PM MoonyMoon: yeah for labling my metal school lockers
02:42 PM Tom_L: use a sharpie silly
05:39 PM rue_mohr: MoonyMoon, ok, lets do this.
05:39 PM rue_mohr: I'll print one, and if you havn't used it in 3 weeks you need to pay me $3 for it
05:45 PM Tom_L: haha
05:46 PM Tom_L: count yourself paid!
05:46 PM Tom_L: you ever dove into a vfd for pid tuning?
05:47 PM rue_mohr: no
05:47 PM rue_mohr: its all been open loop
05:47 PM rue_mohr: is it giving you troubles?
05:52 PM aandrew: rue_mohr> I'll print one, and if you havn't used it in 3 weeks you need to pay me $3 for it
05:52 PM aandrew: hahahaha
05:58 PM rue_mohr: I'm just getting frustrated at going out of my way to help people with wacky projects they abandon
06:05 PM rue_mohr: ugh, all the printer gear is down after the power outage
06:22 PM aandrew: hm, it seems my FTDI RS422 cable ignores parity settings
06:25 PM rue_mohr: definitly eh?
06:25 PM rue_mohr: didyou scope it?
06:25 PM rue_mohr: with the character 'U' ?
06:36 PM aandrew: I've got an STM32 spitting out 0x20 - 0x7e over and over, and 8N1 it's great, if I set the FTDI chip to even parity it still receives perfectly, but if I set the STM32 ot even parity it errors out about every 3/5 characters
06:38 PM aandrew: I wonder if this is a clone FT232RL because the actual devices seem to claim to do the right thing
06:39 PM aandrew: I'm 99.9% sure the ftdi configuration program does not have an option to "ignore parity" either but I have to dig out my win10 laptop to check it
07:00 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, no but it would be nice if it snapped to the setpoint a bit quicker
07:00 PM Tom_L: without overshooting
07:01 PM Tom_L: i was watching some tormach video and listening to how the spindle was responding
07:49 PM rue_shop1: how the heck do I get gnumeric (or anything ) to draw csv captures from saleae csv files/
07:57 PM Tom_L: excel?
07:58 PM rue_shop1: gnumeric is excel yes
07:59 PM Tom_L: https://lucsmall.com/2012/05/21/gnuplot-for-the-electronics-enthusiast-part-1-visualising-data-from-the-saleae-logic/
07:59 PM Tom_L: dunno...
08:00 PM Tom_L: not quite what you asked but might get what you're after
08:00 PM Tom_L: excel will plot too but i've never done it
08:01 PM rue_shop1: gonna go with screen shots, but arg
08:02 PM Tom_L: i don't know how sensitive the settings are on that vfd
08:02 PM Tom_L: don't know what increments to use if i _do_ decide to fiddle
08:28 PM MoonyMoon: :P rue_mohr
08:29 PM MoonyMoon: I know your tired of lazy people rue
08:33 PM rue_shop1: not lazy
08:34 PM rue_shop1: just going to significant amounts of distraction for things for people who drop them and walk away
08:34 PM rue_shop1: its like "I put half a day into that!"
08:40 PM MoonyMoon: I know what your saying regardless of my adjective :P
08:43 PM rue_shop1: indeed
08:44 PM rue_mohr: we should have you build a printer
08:48 PM MoonyMoon: yes we should
08:49 PM MoonyMoon: If I do build one can we run it in your rack?
08:49 PM aandrew: haha
08:49 PM aandrew: you just want excuses to visit often
08:49 PM MoonyMoon: :P tits?
08:49 PM MoonyMoon: I dont need an exuse XD
08:50 PM rue_mohr: no I have no more room for printers or cnc machines
08:50 PM MoonyMoon: ok well I need to wait until I do then
08:51 PM rue_mohr: you do
08:51 PM rue_mohr: you have like 800 square feet at james'
08:51 PM MoonyMoon: Lets park 4 RVs at your place and then.....
08:51 PM MoonyMoon: XD
08:51 PM rue_mohr: no, you already have them at other peoples places
08:51 PM rue_mohr: like james'
08:52 PM MoonyMoon: Shows what you know XD
08:52 PM MoonyMoon: I have long since given that roling home away ;P
08:52 PM MoonyMoon: rolling*
08:52 PM rue_mohr: I know I need to start adding titles to my xterm windows
08:52 PM MoonyMoon: you should
08:52 PM rue_mohr: I have like 50 open and their all being used for things
08:52 PM MoonyMoon: and random colors
08:53 PM MoonyMoon: whats the call for that anyway?
08:53 PM rue_mohr: call?
08:53 PM MoonyMoon: for setting a name
08:54 PM rue_mohr: dont remember
08:54 PM rue_mohr: I think I lost that tab about 4 months ago
08:54 PM rue_mohr: not to say its closed, just lost
08:54 PM MoonyMoon: ;p
08:55 PM rue_mohr: 11 browser windows open across 2 users
08:55 PM MoonyMoon: echo -ne "\033]0;YOUR_TITLE_HERE\007";\
08:55 PM MoonyMoon: echo -ne "\033]1;YOUR_MINIMIZED_TITLE_HERE\007"'
08:59 PM MoonyMoon: or xterm -T "sscvsv"
09:00 PM MoonyMoon: diner time :D
09:01 PM rue_mohr: its not even 7
10:06 PM Tom_L: ok so i went thru the parameter list for the vfd and wrote down the defaults. given were P1-0 thru P1-14, however the parameter list goes to P1-34 which i wrote down all the numbers for even though i don't know what they do
10:09 PM rue_mohr: its usually a tangled mess
10:10 PM Tom_L: the manual i got said default KP was 1520 but it was actually set to 300 and KI default was 320 and was actually set to 100
10:10 PM Tom_L: so obviously the vendor has changed a few of them and not mentioned that
10:11 PM Tom_L: it would be nice to have a complete list of functions even though they are not likely user parameters
10:11 PM rue_mohr: also check if its got a tuning mode turned on
10:12 PM Tom_L: i see nothing about 'tuning mode'
10:12 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/PDF/BLDC/GlockCNC+1200+Watt+Brushless+Spindle+Motor+Driver.pdf
10:13 PM Tom_L: other than the chinese translated docs in that directory that's all i have on it
10:13 PM rue_mohr: eek, I'm up to my eyes in a bit of research
10:13 PM Tom_L: i mainly wanted to know if it supported modbus since no mention of the rj45 plug was made
10:14 PM Tom_L: at least i have a copy of the defaults as it was sent to me
10:51 PM Tom_L: ok, all saved to a spreadsheet
