07:17 AM splyne is now known as spline
11:47 AM aandrew: do you run into many bad crystals?
11:48 AM aandrew: that would have been the last thing I'd think to check
04:42 PM rue_mohr: larger ones, yea
04:43 PM rue_mohr: if they are driven too hard they crack
04:43 PM rue_mohr: big time problem in walkie-talkie radios
05:28 PM aandrew: interesting, I did not know this
05:28 PM aandrew: I mean it makes sense but I always thought they moved so little that it was WELL within their design spec
05:28 PM aandrew: but a walkie talkie would be droped and thrown and basically abused so I could see shock failures
06:20 PM rue_mohr: the first I ever knew for sure was a c64 board thats crystal was broken so badly the peice was rattling around in the case
06:21 PM rue_mohr: after I learned it was possible I made a tester and checked things with crystals that didn't work
06:21 PM rue_mohr: found a few
06:22 PM rue_mohr: its even come up on a cheap arduino
06:24 PM aandrew: interesting
06:53 PM rue_mohr: hahah twitter media server is cacking again
07:26 PM rue_mohr: that motor was made before me...
