12:00 AM rue_mohr: its got everything
12:07 AM rue_mohr: ooooooooo yea
12:07 AM rue_mohr: all the code for the old cnc
12:07 AM rue_mohr: I'll be able to update my programs
12:09 AM rue_mohr: :) I want to hook a joystick up to my computer...
12:58 AM rue_mohr: hey, there is all my 68HC11 source!
10:46 AM aandrew: U2's live "all along the watchtower" is pretty decent
10:46 AM aandrew: I'm not a super fan of them but that's a good one
10:46 AM aandrew: Hendrix is better of course but they did a good cover
10:47 AM aandrew: their rattle and hum album is pretty good, and I LOVE "The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)"
10:48 AM aandrew: Tom_L: nice link on the tool adjustment. I like that auto tool changer too
01:48 PM Tom_L: he bought that mill from china with no control
01:51 PM aandrew: interesting
01:51 PM aandrew: it's amazing what you can do with low-end stuff when you know what you're doing :-)
01:52 PM Tom_L: tool changer etc all done with linuxcnc
05:52 PM aandrew: my boys are watching a show about dams and the narrator keeps talking about "the dam engineers" and I can't help but giggle every time
07:28 PM rue_mohr: heh
07:28 PM rue_mohr: ok, fileserver needs a lid
07:28 PM rue_mohr: if its still running
07:28 PM polprog: late night
07:28 PM polprog: so i got my design 3d printed yesterday
07:28 PM polprog: i put it together today and damn it works wonders
07:29 PM rue_mohr: whats it again?
07:29 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlpkmEEhFqc
07:29 PM polprog: its a holder + collimator for a diffraction grating
07:29 PM rue_mohr: ah
07:29 PM polprog: so a cheap and small spectrometer to some extent
07:30 PM polprog: although i have to redraw the collimator.. and fix up a dimension
07:30 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, yea, I dont like the repeat strain on them
07:31 PM polprog: hmm, i may have to get some lenses
07:33 PM rue_mohr: I got the lasers for my lens tester
07:33 PM rue_mohr: I have 3 now
07:33 PM polprog: what kinda lasers
07:34 PM polprog: and what lens tester :D
07:36 PM rue_mohr: line modules
07:36 PM rue_mohr: small ones
07:36 PM rue_mohr: a 3 parallel beam tester
07:36 PM rue_mohr: 1cm spacing
07:37 PM polprog: neat
07:37 PM polprog: got any pics?
07:38 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1180517.jpg
07:38 PM rue_mohr: its not quite done yet
07:39 PM polprog: cool stuff
07:39 PM rue_mohr: there is a design, I'm haivn motivation issues
07:39 PM polprog: same here, but im having time issues
07:40 PM polprog: im pretty sure my collimator is having internal reflections
07:41 PM polprog: for that the new design will be slightly different, instead of a long narrow slit its gonna be two slits one after the other, on the tip and the base of an isoceles triangle
07:42 PM rue_mohr: what eh idea?
07:42 PM polprog: if i find out how to ill add some anti reflective corrugated shape
07:42 PM polprog: im trying to make up a spectrometer
07:42 PM polprog: for lasers
07:42 PM polprog: and shit
07:42 PM rue_mohr: why not just use a prism?
07:42 PM polprog: i dont have one
07:43 PM rue_mohr: cheap from aliexpress
07:43 PM polprog: yeah.. the last wares didnt come yet
07:43 PM rue_mohr: or thriftstore binoculars
07:43 PM polprog: i was considering a prism
07:44 PM polprog: but prism needs a collimated light beam too
07:44 PM rue_mohr: hmm, not sure
07:45 PM polprog: if the light comes from all directions then you will get a blurry spectrum image
07:45 PM polprog: if it's a collimated narrow beam then it will split cleanly
07:45 PM polprog: no matter if a prism or a grating
07:46 PM polprog: damn spot on
07:46 PM polprog: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000159316556.html
07:46 PM polprog: :D
07:46 PM polprog: 30mm diameter, 50mm focal length
07:47 PM polprog: just the size i need
07:50 PM polprog: dang, ΓΈ=16mm f=10mm
07:50 PM polprog: they are sooo cheap
07:53 PM polprog: "K9 glass"
07:53 PM polprog: yea sure
07:55 PM polprog: actually i dont know if K9 glass is that expensive
07:57 PM polprog: nighters
08:15 PM rue_mohr: :)
09:49 PM rue_shop1: so, I tightened a screw on the cnc machine
09:49 PM rue_shop1: which broke a peice off on the inside of the spindle motor
09:49 PM rue_shop1: which shorted the controller
09:50 PM rue_shop1: which blew the fuse
09:50 PM rue_shop1: and popped the drive transistor
09:52 PM Tom_L: fuse should have caught that
10:49 PM rue_mohr: it kinda did
10:50 PM rue_mohr: the impulse was just too high
11:36 PM rue_mohr: https://twitter.com/RueNahcMohr/status/1354292660924600323
11:36 PM rue_mohr: ^^ tom
11:36 PM rue_mohr: the path could do with a LOT of optimization, but it does it!
11:37 PM rue_mohr: I found all the old source code, so I can rewrite the low level driver to run a step/dir interface, and keep migrating it to grbl :)
