09:05 AM aandrew: Tom_L: using it to fix the rim so you can use a can opener? :-)
12:24 PM polprog: what beans?
03:01 PM aandrew: polprog: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/582328073878241303/795870497782104104/20210104_231923.jpg?width=1253&height=593
03:01 PM polprog: lol
07:26 PM aandrew: ya'll are quiet tonight
07:31 PM rue_mohr: ok I have good reason to be burned out today
07:33 PM rue_mohr: about 2 minutes after I decided I would only do _ONE_ thing at a time at work, I realized why its not possable
08:03 PM aandrew: heh
08:12 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: I've seen several soft power circuits like that, good job
08:13 PM aandrew: for bonus points, add a single pfet in series with the input (ground the gate) and you get a(n almost) no voltage drop reverse polarity protection
08:15 PM aandrew: just take another 4905 for example, D to VIN, S to your circuit, G to ground
08:16 PM rue_mohr: I'v seen someone advertize one for sale, I thought that was silly
08:16 PM rue_mohr: :)
08:17 PM aandrew: don't know about ofr sale, but any time I have anything at risk of reverse voltage it's a very cheap protection circuit
08:17 PM aandrew: you can even use a special blinking red led in antiparallel to blink when you've hooked it up wrng :-)
08:38 PM rue_mohr: do you know what they call that 3 laser box that was in the optic kit?
08:43 PM rue_mohr: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000244947404.html
08:53 PM rue_mohr: rue, help me out here
08:53 PM rue_mohr: so, we need tilt, and XY
08:53 PM rue_mohr: ok
08:53 PM rue_mohr: tilt is the hard part
08:53 PM rue_mohr: well, onyl a bit
08:53 PM rue_mohr: good point
08:53 PM rue_mohr: partial gear?
08:54 PM rue_mohr: set with glue?
08:54 PM rue_mohr: hmm
08:54 PM rue_mohr: ok, what about xy
08:54 PM rue_mohr: let me see that module
08:55 PM Tom_L: https://jethornton.github.io/stdeb/console.html
08:55 PM Tom_L: updated a bit
08:55 PM rue_mohr: k
08:57 PM rue_mohr: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EqWW7W4XYAIcfKA?format=jpg&name=medium
08:57 PM rue_mohr: I cant find one of those, along, on ali
08:57 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: that's almost the same, however on my son's the three lines individually tilt back and forth
08:58 PM aandrew: and I took the cover off one, it's just a regular laser diode module with a clear cylinder in front of it to make the line
08:58 PM rue_mohr: yea
08:59 PM rue_mohr: but, how far apart are the lines?
08:59 PM rue_mohr: 1cm?
08:59 PM aandrew: one sec it's here on my desk
09:01 PM aandrew: https://imgur.com/a/NiT1u9O looks like 18mm-ish
09:02 PM rue_mohr: huh
09:02 PM rue_mohr: and they can tip sideways?
09:03 PM aandrew: they indiviudally tilt left/right
09:03 PM rue_mohr: huh
09:05 PM aandrew: US$30 is insanely expensive for that though
09:05 PM aandrew: I suspect you can take three laser line modules and 3d print something so much cheaper
09:07 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000626200368.html is the exact set I got him on amazon
09:08 PM aandrew: I paid US$55
09:30 PM rue_mohr: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32955129978.html
09:30 PM rue_mohr: ^^ that is crazy tho
09:31 PM rue_mohr: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001033010882.html
09:31 PM rue_mohr: closer
09:32 PM rue_mohr: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32819184680.html
09:34 PM rue_mohr: $3 in lasers, and $22 is as low as it goes
09:34 PM rue_mohr: I should start making them
09:42 PM Tom_L: and there's your project!
09:56 PM rue_mohr: the middle one only needs rotation
09:56 PM Tom_L: wanna help with a pc issue?
09:56 PM rue_mohr: ok...
09:56 PM Tom_L: not me
09:57 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: $15 is still awful expensive I feel
09:57 PM rue_mohr: already a typical problem..
09:57 PM aandrew: US$9 is better
09:57 PM Tom_L: 9:49PM http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~tom-itx/irc/logs/%23linuxcnc/2021-01-05.html
09:58 PM rue_mohr: the hdmi?
09:58 PM Tom_L: sounds that way
09:59 PM rue_mohr: oh, no, those are display lights he has no processr
09:59 PM Tom_L: any suggestion i'm sure he would appreciate
09:59 PM rue_mohr: he never said it beeps
09:59 PM rue_mohr: he just said lights
09:59 PM rue_mohr: lights means nothing
10:00 PM Tom_L: i don't think he's tried the beeps yet
10:00 PM rue_mohr: if you start it with no ram, it should beep
10:00 PM rue_mohr: this says a lot
10:00 PM rue_mohr: - the processor is alive
10:00 PM rue_mohr: also , if the caps-lock works
10:01 PM rue_mohr: the keyboards dont do that
10:01 PM rue_mohr: it has to go to the processor and back
10:01 PM rue_mohr: maybe its just defaulting to the onboard video
10:01 PM rue_mohr: but ...
10:02 PM Tom_L: i lost video on mine once but it went to the 2nd port
10:04 PM rue_mohr: ok I think I have an idea how to make this
10:05 PM rue_mohr: oh it did beep without memory
10:05 PM rue_mohr: ok
10:11 PM Tom_L: no i think he fried it
10:14 PM rue_mohr: ok
11:39 PM rue_mohr: ok note to self, at 9:30 I thought of everything I wanted to do tonight
11:39 PM rue_mohr: (bedtime is 9:45)
