01:52 AM rue_mohr: well did a few hours of work today
01:58 AM rue_mohr: tied to catch up on some things
01:58 AM rue_mohr: nobody did anything while I was gone
01:58 AM rue_mohr: stuff is all piled up
05:43 AM Tom_L: 3.8 woke me up this morning
08:55 AM rue_mohr: ooo
08:55 AM rue_mohr: its going around
08:55 AM rue_mohr: I'm half watching it to work its way up here
09:13 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: one of the supplements I take comes from Robert's Creek
09:13 AM rue_mohr: hah wow
09:13 AM rue_mohr: whats the company name?
09:14 AM aandrew: I was half awake when I was grabbing my stuff and noticed it on the label
09:14 AM rue_mohr: we have a few odd little companies up here
09:15 AM aandrew: "Real Mushrooms" is the name on the label
09:16 AM rue_mohr: huh, not familiar with that one
09:16 AM rue_mohr: but like I say, there are a few tucked away
09:16 AM aandrew: indeed
09:16 AM aandrew: also, I forgot how zinc is kind of shitty on the stomach if you don't eat
09:20 AM rue_mohr: hmm
09:21 AM rue_mohr: just learning about the kiss2 file format for FSMs
09:22 AM rue_mohr: and graphviz files
09:28 AM rue_mohr: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/32645965/fsm-export-using-yosys
09:28 AM rue_mohr: I can abuse this!
09:30 AM rue_mohr: not usefull, but entertaining
09:32 AM rue_mohr: maybe this would be insane
09:32 AM rue_mohr: these fsms I made are not even close to simple
09:45 AM aandrew: heh
09:45 AM rue_mohr: xdot is taking a few mins to render this one...
09:46 AM aandrew: I have an automatic soap dispenser. it dispenses just a bit too much soap per activation so I was thinking of modifying it, but realize that inside is probably a little OTP micro since nobody does anythign with discretes anymore (present company excluded)
09:46 AM aandrew: but then it occured to me that I could take the motor activation output and trigger a one-shot 555 with it with a pulse duration I'm happier with
09:47 AM rue_mohr: maybe not, OTP is getting rarer
09:47 AM rue_mohr: after all, you can do FW updates with OTP
09:48 AM rue_mohr: xdot is still rendering...
09:50 AM rue_mohr: geez its only 2048 nodes...
09:52 AM rue_mohr: wow I didn't forsee how much this bit splicing function would change things
10:06 AM rue_mohr: I'm getting the impression xdot doesn't like 2048 lines in a graph
10:08 AM rue_mohr: gee its no fun when you just break it right out of the gate
10:12 AM rue_mohr: oh my
10:18 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: it's a soap dispenser. there are no FW updates
10:18 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: that graph is going to look like a Star Trek Tribble
10:18 AM rue_mohr: yea
10:18 AM rue_mohr: I'm gonna give up on that for now
10:18 AM rue_mohr: I had to remove the labels and post-sort the data
10:26 AM rue_mohr: I'd not be surprised if even a soap dispencer takes OTA updtates
10:28 AM aandrew: lol
10:28 AM aandrew: I doubt it, but it's in actual use so I can't take it apart
10:29 AM aandrew: might buy another so I can take it apart, it's ended up being super useful
10:29 AM aandrew: not only does it prevent the 8yo from pumping the soap 6 times but it also is noisy enough that we can hear when they've "forgotten" to wash their hands
10:31 AM rue_mohr: not sleeping latley
10:31 AM rue_mohr: its getting heavy
10:31 AM rue_mohr: dont ahve to be at work today
10:32 AM rue_mohr: but maybe tonight
10:33 AM aandrew: sorry to hear about the lack of sleep
10:33 AM aandrew: that sucks
10:33 AM rue_mohr: that diagram is for the 6 bit encoder tracker FSM
10:33 AM aandrew: my lack of sleep is mostly self-inflicted
11:18 AM polprog: lol @ soap dispense and the FSM graph

04:00 PM rue_mohr: I don't know if I could get myself up to do even a simple project right now
04:36 PM Tom_L: been a while
05:02 PM Tom_L: you need a competetor.. remember those days?
06:52 PM rue_mohr: anyone to work on things with is cool
06:52 PM Tom_L: yup
