10:58 AM aandrew: I should build up the walls for my CNC enclosure (interior shelf in a shelving unit :-)
11:04 AM aandrew: 1/2" drywall that I'm going to green glue to a 1/4" plywood sheet for some rigidity. I was originally going to put a strip of neoprene between the plywood and metal rails but the drywall+green glue should provide enough deadening already, and I have an 1/8" neoprene mat that the little mill will rest on
11:04 AM rue_mohr: hmmm
11:04 AM aandrew: cut a 2" hole in one of the walls for vacuum and that should take care of 3/4 walls. the front I want to use a sheet of lexan cut in two with magnetic latches
11:04 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/sherline_files/sherline_index.php
11:04 AM aandrew: that should keep any mess to a minimum
11:04 AM Tom_L: seemed to be enough for my sherline
11:04 AM rue_mohr: is it running long enough that noise is an issue, or do you need mess containment
11:05 AM rue_mohr: heh I have a factory
11:07 AM Tom_L: you sell more short or long ones?
11:08 AM rue_mohr: the 3" is most popular
11:08 AM rue_mohr: parts wise, they class into 3", 6" and longer
11:08 AM rue_mohr: we actually need to trim the parts to make 6"
11:08 AM rue_mohr: 3" uses different parts
11:09 AM Tom_L: should standardize them
11:09 AM Tom_L: new 2021 models now available!
11:10 AM rue_mohr: heh
11:10 AM rue_mohr: the parts are all backwards compatible with the origional ones the other guy made
11:10 AM Tom_L: that probably helps
11:10 AM rue_mohr: we didn't make my uncles sprayer
11:10 AM rue_mohr: but it took me like 10 mins to put a new head on that we had made up
11:11 AM rue_mohr: inc. cutting a new stock of pins...
11:11 AM rue_mohr: the heads take a few hours to make up
11:12 AM Tom_L: A9 & 10?
11:12 AM rue_mohr: 9,10,11,12,13
11:13 AM rue_mohr: heh ,17
11:13 AM rue_mohr: http://www.ruemohr.org/
11:13 AM Tom_L: some of those must be plastic
11:13 AM rue_mohr: no
11:13 AM rue_mohr: 9 and 10 are cnc from 1/8" plate
11:13 AM rue_mohr: A12 is from 5/16 plate
11:14 AM rue_mohr: 13 is a custom spring
11:14 AM rue_mohr: 11 is a bike link
11:20 AM rue_mohr: A9 has to be bent and ground
11:20 AM rue_mohr: 17 is just a brass pin
11:20 AM Tom_L: that should be fixed
11:20 AM Tom_L: 9
11:20 AM Tom_L: you cut something off that one didn't you
11:20 AM Tom_L: ?
11:20 AM rue_mohr: its not plausable to make out of the thicker plate
11:20 AM rue_mohr: A9 is shown drawn (badly :) ) with front tabs
11:20 AM Tom_L: it's 1/8" right?
11:20 AM rue_mohr: the front tabs compromised the metal too much
11:20 AM rue_mohr: since we removed them, there have been no failures
11:20 AM rue_mohr: yup 1/8 alu plate
11:20 AM Tom_L: yeah when you bent them it fatigues the neck
11:20 AM rue_mohr: its the one you protod' in profile cut
11:20 AM rue_mohr: yea, and they aren't needed
12:04 PM rue_mohr: so, how many amps CAN the leads of a TO-220 really take?
12:06 PM Tom_L: 15
12:07 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: "your amazing contact information" ? amazing?
12:07 PM Tom_L: sry 10A
12:07 PM Tom_L: https://www.electronicspoint.com/forums/threads/maximum-current-for-to-220-package-75-95a-and-how-to-connect-heavy-leads.37126/
12:12 PM rue_mohr: oh my buddy rewrote the page
12:12 PM rue_mohr: interesting, I wonder what he was up to
02:08 PM Tom_L: crappy rainy day
02:43 PM polprog: hmm
02:43 PM polprog: the cordless drill has some bright sparks inside when it abruptly stops when i release the trigger
02:43 PM polprog: i wonder is it bad
02:43 PM polprog: i can see the inside lights up blue
02:43 PM polprog: definitely not gasproof :v
03:19 PM Tom_L: but better than the one you had
03:30 PM polprog: yeah.. i had a very small one
03:30 PM polprog: this ons is a full blown drill
06:00 PM polprog: poking around this SB audigy front panel board
06:01 PM polprog: i traced the S/PDIF input
06:02 PM polprog: now ill have to find something with spdif output and try to hook it up to see if we have sound
