01:01 AM rue_mohr: hmm
01:07 AM rue_mohr: my 'just fudge the values' forward converter doesn't like the voltage I want it to operate at
01:07 AM rue_mohr: (12V)
01:07 AM rue_mohr: but it works great at 5V
01:07 AM rue_mohr: unfortunatly, I need -5V from it
01:07 AM rue_mohr: which is determined by the ratio
11:48 AM aandrew is now known as Guest44650
12:53 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/distractions/FSMservo/slide.htm
12:53 PM rue_mohr: using a rom to generate servo pulses
06:45 PM Guest44650 is now known as aandrew
09:31 PM rue_bed: I should fix the kernel on my main machine
09:31 PM rue_bed: the nfs isn't working
09:31 PM rue_bed: and its got a wierd issue with the fat module
09:32 PM rue_bed: and I'd like to get my tripplehead card in
09:32 PM rue_bed: tired but I'm not dozing off, no nap for me
09:35 PM Tom_L: updated the mill and rpi4 linuxcnc versions
09:36 PM Tom_L: few config edits
09:38 PM Tom_L: multi spindle support was added this release
09:40 PM Tom_L: http://linuxcnc.org/2020/09/08/LinuxCNC-2.8.0/
09:40 PM Tom_L: short list of improvements
09:47 PM rue_mohr: cool
09:48 PM rue_mohr: when did you start using a pi?
09:56 PM Tom_L: i've had it for a while
09:57 PM rue_mohr: yea, I dont remmeber that
09:57 PM Tom_L: it's just adequate to run linuxcnc
09:58 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Rpi4/Rpi4_top.jpg
09:58 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Rpi4/Rpi4_bottom.jpg
09:58 PM Tom_L: keeps it nice n cool
09:58 PM rue_mohr: hmm
09:59 PM rue_mohr: so then, are you using the ethernet interface to the machine?
09:59 PM Tom_L: yes
09:59 PM Tom_L: for that
09:59 PM rue_mohr: ah
09:59 PM Tom_L: i also tested spi on it
09:59 PM rue_mohr: I thought you were using a pci card to an fpga slave on the machine
10:00 PM Tom_L: the mill currently has a pc with a parallel port cable to the mesa card inside the control
10:00 PM Tom_L: i have the same mesa card in an ethernet interface
10:01 PM Tom_L: no pci on the mill
10:01 PM Tom_L: i have a pcie card for testing
10:01 PM rue_mohr: I thought you were using a tower
10:01 PM Tom_L: no
10:02 PM Tom_L: mini itx case
10:02 PM Tom_L: small
10:05 PM Tom_L: G33.1 Rigid Tapping speedup, with optional faster return move
10:05 PM Tom_L: i like that improvement
10:05 PM rue_mohr: you did have a fancy pci card with a parallel interface of some kind to the machine fpga didn't ya?
10:06 PM Tom_L: no not on the mill
10:06 PM Tom_L: it has a daughter card that plugs into the main mesa card
10:06 PM Tom_L: Reverse-Run: Negative feed-override will now run the G-code path in reverse.
10:06 PM Tom_L: that's neat
10:07 PM rue_mohr: :)
10:07 PM rue_mohr: I was looking into how modern software does "undo" and its insane
10:09 PM Tom_L: adding that speedup to my cad cam post
10:26 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Spindle/Control_Pannel1.jpg
10:26 PM Tom_L: the pc is off to the side of the kbd. i don't have a pic with it showing
10:27 PM Tom_L: ~8x12x5 box
