01:00 AM rue_mohr: TermMoon,
01:06 AM rue_mohr: look for that set of papers THIS IS FUCKING IMPORTANT
01:06 AM rue_mohr: If you have ANYTHING that has "session 6" written at the top of it I NEED IT IMMEDIATLY
05:49 AM Tom_L: https://www.ecmweb.com/national-electrical-code/code-basics/article/20885382/clearing-up-multifamily-dwelling-unit-calculations
05:49 AM Tom_L: https://www.ecmweb.com/national-electrical-code/code-basics/article/20891826/multifamily-dwelling-unit-service-and-feeder-calculations
05:50 AM Tom_L: for you sleepy rue
06:16 AM rue_bed: part of school is about doing things the way the teacher wants, not neccisarily the right way
06:17 AM rue_bed: the single and 'mult' dwellings aren't as much of a problem as appartments, schools, and parking lots
11:40 AM Tom_L: have they switched to alternate wiring (non copper) in parking lots there yet?
11:41 AM Tom_L: too many thiefs...
12:10 PM polprog: finished watching this weeks lecture
12:34 PM rue_mohr: https://ja.aliexpress.com/item/33012352433.html
12:34 PM rue_mohr: how come I'v not seen stuff like that come up on ali before?
12:36 PM rue_mohr: https://ja.aliexpress.com/item/4000242153188.html
12:36 PM rue_mohr: hah, they 3d printed hats with cams for the knobs
12:37 PM Tom_L: :)
01:11 PM polprog: that sensor glove is is pretty cool
01:11 PM polprog: is*
02:26 PM rue_mohr: a bit lame too but yea
02:26 PM rue_mohr: I like it, it needs to go further
02:34 PM rue_mohr: ok moon brought back the document I needed, I'll go over that a few times, then eat and do the 4 hour practise test
02:35 PM rue_mohr: what I want to do is build a linear variable differential capacitor
03:30 PM Tom_L: no time to play
03:39 PM aandrew: I'm printing cookie cutters
03:40 PM aandrew: I took the glass bed of the printer as I just can't seem to get things to stick like it used to. put on one of those stick on print beds to see if it is any better than green tape
03:40 PM aandrew: now you watch I wont' be able to get the damn print off the bed
03:40 PM aandrew: the aluminum base plate isn't too badly warped which is good, the original intention of the glass bed was to reduce that as much as possible
03:45 PM aandrew: user "oogieme" on thingiverse has a lot of nice simple designs for cookie cutters
04:31 PM polprog: so glad i moved these filing drawers somewhere else
04:31 PM polprog: there is so much space at the bench and i got extra paper space on the desk
04:34 PM polprog: monday imminent
04:34 PM polprog: goddamnit
04:38 PM aandrew: heh
04:39 PM aandrew: yeah my desk tends to become a pigsty because I work on eleventy things at once and want them all within reaching distance. I also find that lack of storage exacerbates the issue but I'm getting better at that
04:39 PM aandrew: (mostly by buying shelving and standardizing on a couple of containers)
04:40 PM aandrew: oh and labelling the everloving fuck out of everything. Something in me snapped when I hit my early 40s, I just have to fucking label everything now
04:40 PM aandrew: that way I can put them away and find them later. If they're not labelled they're as good as lost
04:40 PM aandrew: reminds me of a joke
04:40 PM aandrew: What's Alzheimer's advantage? New friends every day!
04:41 PM aandrew: What's Alzheimer's advantage? Being able to hide your own Easter eggs!
05:47 PM polprog: worst part is when you go to a new psychiatrist and he says "welcome back"
05:47 PM polprog: label everything you say?
05:47 PM polprog: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/fe/1b/bf/fe1bbf4c17f74e3d29ab2aa4520d3422.jpg
05:48 PM polprog: youre the the Double D from Eds then :v
05:52 PM polprog: My standardized containers seem to be the black plastic trays takeaways here use to seal the food in
05:52 PM polprog: of all the containers i have, most are of this type
06:03 PM Tom_L: just don't start eating them
08:52 PM rue_mohr: so, the practise provincial exam took me 3.5 hours
09:44 PM aandrew: heh
09:45 PM aandrew: my bigger containers are home depot "26L" totes (https://www.homedepot.ca/product/hdx-mini-flip-tote-red-clear-26-l/1000177842), they go on sale about twice a year for about $2 ea
09:46 PM rue_mohr: cool
09:47 PM aandrew: the smaller ones are trickier to come by: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00CQGTGZQ
09:48 PM aandrew: I maybe shouldn't have used them because they are a bit pricier ($10/ea) but they are really nice
09:50 PM aandrew: consistency is key for me, I *hate* playing Tetris
09:50 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: do you mill much plastic?
09:51 PM rue_mohr: sure
09:51 PM rue_mohr: you have to run REAL slow
09:51 PM rue_mohr: slower than looks right
09:51 PM rue_mohr: two factors, the chips need to have a minimum size
09:52 PM rue_mohr: and if your rpm is too high, the bit will start to heat up and do more melting than cutting
09:54 PM aandrew: right that makes sense. which plastics do you like to use?
09:56 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/mech/p1010110.jpg
09:56 PM rue_mohr: PVC
10:00 PM rue_mohr: can I get a tiny13 to output an 8Mhz 50% square wave?
10:05 PM aandrew: not sure, I've not touched those kind sof devices in years
11:37 PM rue_mohr: ok!
11:37 PM rue_mohr: I'v successfully got houses, apartments, commercial buildings and schools worked out
11:37 PM rue_mohr: I didn't do parking lot plugs, but its not too awefull and I'm sure if I hit one I'll be ok
11:58 PM aandrew: congrats :-)
