12:10 AM rue_bed: gonna end up breaking this laptop with some upgrades...
12:17 AM rue_bed: software updates
07:26 PM rue_mohr: its only 16x16 or 32x32, dont recall
07:26 PM rue_mohr: might have been an odd size too
07:28 PM Tom_L: yeah i knew it was small. somebody in lcnc was looking at them
07:35 PM rue_mohr: wouldn't reply on them for encoders
07:50 PM rue_mohr: polprog, do you think the missing link is a capacitor voltage divider?
07:54 PM polprog: hmm, to some extent
07:54 PM polprog: they are non linear
07:55 PM rue_mohr: how so
07:55 PM polprog: capacitor voltage divider is actually phase shifter
07:55 PM polprog: on the other hand
07:55 PM polprog: it could be considered a charge divider ...
07:55 PM rue_mohr: V1----||-----o------||------V2
07:55 PM rue_mohr: voltage at o
07:55 PM polprog: 0254, I have to hit the bed :(
07:56 PM rue_mohr: or
07:56 PM polprog: hmm, you're right
07:56 PM rue_mohr: V1----||-----A-----||------B------||------V2
07:56 PM Tom_L: nice pendant btw
07:57 PM rue_mohr: thanks
07:57 PM polprog: what pendant?
07:57 PM rue_mohr: the cnc one posted here
07:57 PM Tom_L: will grbl let you do more than one jog speed?
07:57 PM rue_mohr: I dont use grbl
07:57 PM Tom_L: what then?
07:57 PM rue_mohr: my pendant invercepts the step signals
07:58 PM polprog: ah that
07:58 PM rue_mohr: inserts its own into the drivers
07:58 PM polprog: neat
07:58 PM Tom_L: hmm
07:58 PM rue_mohr: I have 3 speeds
07:58 PM Tom_L: hard to keep accuracy isn't it?
07:58 PM polprog: allright, goodnight
07:58 PM rue_mohr: I need to scale them up a bit tho
07:58 PM rue_mohr: its not scaled/rev
07:58 PM Tom_L: you should work on that so it is
07:58 PM rue_mohr: esp that one, the sensor is a dc motor
07:59 PM Tom_L: hmm
07:59 PM rue_mohr: if you turn too slow, it doesn't hit the adc threshold
07:59 PM rue_mohr: but its pretty good
07:59 PM Tom_L: yeah i thought so
07:59 PM Tom_L: you just had to turn it quite a bit to make progress
08:00 PM rue_mohr: yup, the other one is a bit better but the same thing
08:00 PM rue_mohr: partly cause I'm using threaded rod for the drives
08:00 PM Tom_L: i think mine will do .1? per click? maybe .01
08:00 PM Tom_L: i'd have to look
08:00 PM rue_mohr: partly cause I did 1,2,4 steps per 'tick' on the pendant
08:01 PM Tom_L: mine is .1 .01 .001 or such
08:01 PM rue_mohr: my hearing is getting funny I'm gonna start hearing voices soon
08:02 PM Tom_L: looking at it, add a "0" to each
08:02 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/pendant/pendant1.jpg
08:02 PM Tom_L: per tick
08:03 PM Tom_L: i can rely on it for adjustments when manual milling
08:03 PM rue_mohr: yep I manual thru realtime gcode execution
08:03 PM rue_mohr: type in a command hit enter and cringe if I'm wrong
08:17 PM Tom_L: heh
09:18 PM aandrew: well, got the 3018 put together and it moves around with the pendant, so tht's progress I guess
09:24 PM rue_mohr: nice!
09:24 PM rue_mohr: didn't seem to take long to assemble
09:27 PM aandrew: no it was a piece of cake, less than an hour from opening the cardboard box to moving things around
09:27 PM rue_mohr: nice
09:27 PM rue_mohr: how many printed parts?
09:28 PM aandrew: There's still probably another 15m of wire management and cleanup, and then tramming it properly as I can see that beng a sore point
09:28 PM aandrew: all the bearing pillow blocks are plastic, although it looks like injection molded, not 3d printed
09:28 PM rue_mohr: faster after they got going
09:29 PM aandrew: the Z axis is also two pieces of injection molded plastic, although it's not light
09:29 PM aandrew: I absolutely do NOT have the wobble/looseness I saw in some youtube videos
09:29 PM rue_mohr: cool
09:30 PM aandrew: the Z axis of the device (not the spindle) is two chunks of 7mm aluminum, it's a lot more rigid than the ones where Z was just two spans of 2020 or 4020
09:31 PM aandrew: bolted to the main platform with 12 M5 hex socket cap screws
09:31 PM aandrew: I had already bought a spoilboard so I put that on already
09:31 PM rue_mohr: so there might not be as much to change as it looked
09:31 PM aandrew: yeah the 4020 I got from banggood is useless :-)
09:31 PM aandrew: and I wont be able to extend the Z height without replacing those chunky aluminum panels
09:32 PM aandrew: but for now it's going to be more than good enough. I'll have to 3D print the spindle holder
09:32 PM aandrew: (for the 500W spindle)
