12:06 AM rue_mohr: ok, well, the 6502 thing worked
12:13 AM rue_mohr: now maybe something... usefull?
12:15 AM rue_shop2: so, I needed to build the controller for the power supply
02:33 AM zhanx: sun burn from welding
03:33 AM rue_mohr: good one!
04:08 AM Tom_L: morning
04:08 AM rue_mohr: nope, I'm still up
04:09 AM Tom_L: figured as much
04:35 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/distractions/array2bar/slide.htm
04:36 AM rue_mohr: https://twitter.com/RueNahcMohr/status/1314847014765559808 fer a vid!
04:47 AM rue_mohr: polprog, morning
04:47 AM rue_mohr: almost 3am, I'm going to bed soon
04:54 AM polprog: hi rue_mohr
04:55 AM polprog: i was just reading irc
04:55 AM polprog: no i didnt clean the old toner..
04:55 AM polprog: no idea how
05:00 AM rue_mohr: vacuum
05:00 AM rue_mohr: it may have piled up in there, you should be abel to see if it did
05:00 AM rue_mohr: but I think the high voltage is weak
05:00 AM rue_mohr: maybe a bad cap
05:01 AM rue_mohr: (in the primary to the HV inverter)
05:19 AM polprog: hmm, i know not to ever vacuum toner
05:20 AM polprog: its too small for the filter to catch and you get toner dust everywhere
05:20 AM polprog: ill just open it and use wet towels to remove any piles
01:32 PM rue_mohr: if you have a partly blocked up bag it'd be fine
01:42 PM rue_mohr: ok, document bargraph
01:42 PM rue_mohr: shower
01:42 PM rue_mohr: assemble base for power supply controller
01:43 PM rue_mohr: make space for doing remote school at home
01:43 PM Tom_L: no stone masonry today?
01:43 PM rue_mohr: oh its not pouring rain anymore...
01:44 PM rue_mohr: cat brought a bird in the house last night and ate it in the hall :/
02:51 PM rue_mohr: ok, shower is done, working on eating breakfast
02:51 PM rue_mohr: - document bargraph
02:51 PM rue_mohr: - assemble base for power supply controller
02:51 PM rue_mohr: - make space for doing remote school at home
02:51 PM rue_mohr: - case case ends
02:51 PM rue_mohr: er, cast
02:51 PM polprog: bad cat
03:03 PM rue_mohr: omg
03:03 PM rue_mohr: https://hackaday.com/blog/page/2/
03:03 PM rue_mohr: you dont need a printer
03:03 PM rue_mohr: to do that
03:07 PM polprog: resin printer fr pcbs?
03:07 PM polprog: > it’s a shame you can’t just print a PCB
03:07 PM polprog: i mean
03:07 PM polprog: sharpie? and use the 3d printer as a 2d plotter? HELLO???
03:07 PM polprog: kids today have it easy /s
05:00 PM Tom_L: why do relay diode schematics show a resistor in series with the diode?
05:00 PM Tom_L: i've always just used a diode
05:18 PM rue_mohr: ?
05:27 PM Tom_L: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcRoKo1LJIFooBRl3MX-cW1XwBUKZ0-4zS50pQ&usqp=CAU
05:27 PM Tom_L: for instance
05:43 PM polprog: weird, but that looks like a theory schematic so it may just be the parasitic resistance
06:14 PM Tom_L: kinda what i wondered
07:36 PM aandrew: four pies baked, pumpkin seeds next
07:36 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: nice fiber optic bargraph
07:36 PM aandrew: saw the video
07:49 PM rue_mohr: it came out ok
07:50 PM rue_mohr: not enough resolution for the voltage meter, but beats lots of other things
07:50 PM rue_mohr: well, not as much resolution as I wanted, 18V/64 = 0.28V
07:51 PM rue_mohr: I also wanted something wider or longer
07:51 PM rue_mohr: has to be dot mode tho, so the neon plasmas wouldn't work out
08:01 PM aandrew: it's a really nice implementation, I would never have thought to do that
08:05 PM aandrew: so yeah, pies done, seeds almost done, turkey been brining for 2 days, nobody coming over but still gonna have a decent little thanksgiving
08:09 PM rue_mohr: heh, we never got into it in my family
08:11 PM aandrew: thanksgiving is my favourite holiday, way better than christmas
08:11 PM rue_mohr: aandrew, did you see the start of the led bar?
08:12 PM rue_mohr: back when it was just a bad idea on paper?
08:12 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/distractions/array2bar/slide.htm
08:12 PM rue_mohr: I did a thing
08:12 PM rue_mohr: tho I should use the verticle confinement like polprog had
09:53 PM aandrew: the slideshows are not so great - the image plus the controls is too tall for my screen so I can't see the full pic
10:00 PM rue_mohr: yea
10:00 PM rue_mohr: polprog, had a version that did 80% of hieight instead of width
10:01 PM rue_mohr: for now, try a window thats narrow
10:52 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: I just figured out how you can do better than 280mV/dot
10:52 PM aandrew: create some big wide light-up bars under it to give you range
10:52 PM aandrew: range indication I mean
10:53 PM aandrew: so now you have like 100mV, 1V, 10V, 50V ranges or something
10:53 PM aandrew: a big wide LED with a diffuser and your back-painted trick would make it look pretty slick
11:13 PM rue_mohr: :)
11:21 PM rue_shop1: phone computer screwed up again, not sure what caused it
11:22 PM rue_shop1: need to stick a hot spare into that thing soon
