12:02 AM rue_mohr: units 88miles/hour meters/second
12:09 AM rue_mohr: * 39.33952
12:09 AM rue_mohr: thats gettin up there
01:10 AM rue_shop1: ok, a bit of progress on code for that led array
01:10 AM rue_shop1: silly thing
09:24 AM rue_mohr: morning
09:42 AM Tom_L: morning
11:55 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: I think I figured out what I want to do
11:58 AM aandrew: 3" length of pvc tube. fan on one end, with green/blue "dish scrubbing cloth" followed by straws to even out the airflow. other end of pipe is just a cap with output hole. that goes to one-way valve. mass flow/airflow sensor senses after the one-way valve and closes the loop for PI loop for airflow
11:59 AM aandrew: I can also put a heater resistor with the fan and temp sensor with teh airflow sensor to close the temperature loop too
11:59 AM Tom_L: what are you making?
11:59 AM aandrew: that *should* give me a way to have whatever airflow at whatever temp I want and not worry about the fan leaking backward
11:59 AM Tom_L: why not use filter cloth?
12:00 PM aandrew: Tom_L: that'll work too, just didn't think of it. I'm comparing it to the laminar (water) flow hose I want to make for the kids :_)
12:00 PM aandrew: as far as what gas to flow, I was thinking O2 and N2 bottles feeding needle valves to set individual flow rates. the output of the mixing valves goes to a little tank that the fan draws from
12:01 PM aandrew: as long as the input flow > programmed flow, it shouldn't matter I THINK
12:03 PM aandrew: I don't need the o2/n2 and mixing valves if I just want environmental air, but if I want to dick with the O2 level then I need that
12:03 PM aandrew: but either way, I think that PVC pipe flow generator should do the trick
12:03 PM aandrew: I'm NOT an expert in gas though so very very open to criticicsmhints
12:03 PM aandrew: criticism/hints/tips/suggestions/etc.
12:05 PM aandrew: first pass is to use an actual real mass flow sensor, but very quickly use that to characterize/calibrate my own airflow sensor
12:05 PM aandrew: Tom_L: what it is for is for designing and characterizing an ultrasonic O2 concentration sensor
12:06 PM aandrew: 20-100% O2 I don't even need N2 for, but I think I'd like to have it tested against 0-100% O2
12:06 PM aandrew: not sure where I can get inexpensive quantities of N2 though, maybe SCUBA
01:39 PM aandrew: Tom_L: when you say "filter cloth" - you mean like vacuum cleaner filter cloth?
02:13 PM Tom_L: or furnace
04:40 PM polprog: so the guy who runs the mechanics class for our group
04:40 PM polprog: also did APL

06:55 PM rue_mohr: that schoolbook that cost me $50+
06:55 PM rue_mohr: yea, its on ladder logic PLCs and digital logic gates
06:55 PM rue_mohr: :/
06:55 PM Tom_L: cheap for a uni study book
06:56 PM rue_mohr: I was pooped on by a bird today
06:56 PM rue_mohr: A FREAKING CROW
06:56 PM rue_mohr: they know your there.
06:56 PM rue_mohr: freaking malicious crow
06:57 PM Tom_L: good elephants can't fly
06:57 PM rue_mohr: its a good thing I didn't have my toolkit or it'd have ended up with scerwdriver up its ass
06:57 PM Tom_L: :)
06:58 PM rue_mohr: it pirched over me
06:58 PM rue_mohr: didn't notice
07:01 PM Tom_L: that book might be handy to have
07:01 PM Tom_L: but you likely know most of it already
07:38 PM zhanx_workshop: ok pond is dry
07:38 PM zhanx_workshop: pump started 30 minutes ago to fill it
07:49 PM Tom_L: moving it from underneath to on top
07:59 PM aandrew: ladder logic and PLCs... <shudders>
08:00 PM Tom_L: linuxcnc can use ladder logic
08:01 PM aandrew: poor bastards
08:01 PM aandrew: spent way too much time screwing around with PLCs
08:01 PM aandrew: neat ideas, but ladder logic just makes me vomit
08:02 PM Tom_L: it's not required but as an optional tool
08:03 PM rue_mohr: zhanx_workshop, so
08:03 PM rue_mohr: zhanx_workshop, you draining the water too quick?
08:03 PM zhanx_workshop: no it was empty when i got here
08:03 PM rue_mohr: pumps not working?
08:04 PM zhanx_workshop: not till i fixed them
08:27 PM aandrew: I'm watching Gran Torino, I love this movie
08:28 PM aandrew: he's refusing the asian women's food until he smells it and then he's like... oh, okay, yeah, put that over there, thank you
08:28 PM aandrew: hahaha
09:25 PM rue_mohr: ok I'v created a new folder on the website called distractions
09:26 PM Tom_L: i bet that fills quick
09:26 PM Tom_L: you should categorize them
09:26 PM zhanx_workshop: Tom_L, that would also fit in the folder
10:08 PM rue_mohr: zhanx_workshop, sore joints, go.
10:09 PM rue_mohr: tom?
10:09 PM rue_mohr: and I'm the only person alive
10:09 PM rue_mohr: and me
10:09 PM rue_mohr: yea, and you too
10:39 PM zhanx_workshop: fish oil and asprin
10:39 PM zhanx_workshop: joins are low blood flow
10:39 PM zhanx_workshop: joints
10:41 PM zhanx_workshop: i was digging a hole for aquaponics sump
10:42 PM rue_mohr: damnit, thats why I'm taking the ASA
10:43 PM rue_mohr: to stay awake, on what I suspect is low blood flow
10:52 PM zhanx_workshop: you get the lights mounted
10:52 PM rue_mohr: when I'm going down asa usually brings me out of it in about a half hour
10:53 PM rue_mohr: but nothing else seems to be able to touch it
11:10 PM zhanx_workshop: tea?
11:13 PM rue_mohr: nope, not even the worst caffine drinks available
