02:09 AM rue_mohr: zhanx_workshop_,
02:15 AM rue_mohr: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBK0P4ASZ0o
02:15 AM rue_mohr: dang
02:15 AM rue_mohr: is that for flour?
02:18 AM rue_mohr: most of that has to be
02:21 AM polprog: morning
02:24 AM polprog: whats that gauge you are running ?
02:25 AM rue_mohr: ?
02:25 AM rue_mohr: in the slow-mo?
02:26 AM rue_mohr: I grabbed a few out of the bins, just to see how they time to the digital meters
02:26 AM rue_mohr: the meters I used on the power supply are smaller and will respond faster
02:27 AM polprog: https://twitter.com/RueNahcMohr/status/1307923038478843912?s=19
02:28 AM polprog: ah, i see the other videos. nice
09:26 AM rue_mohr: MoonyMoon, I updated the git repo for ohm
09:26 AM rue_mohr: https://github.com/ruenahcmohr/ohm
12:46 PM polprog: shameless plug
12:46 PM polprog: https://gitlab.com/coniferous/rclp
12:46 PM polprog: :v
02:38 PM aandrew: polprog: https://imgur.com/a/rNk87OX
02:39 PM polprog: oh, nice. for me?
02:55 PM zhanx_workshop: rue_mohr, talcum power
02:59 PM polprog: talcum power!
03:52 PM aandrew: I was at the grocery store today and I just realized that rue's name might actually have a double meaning
03:52 PM aandrew: polprog: ja
03:53 PM polprog: nice, whats in it
03:53 PM polprog: :)
03:53 PM polprog: what meaning?
03:53 PM polprog: i keep thinking about french word rue meaning road..
03:53 PM polprog: or street. idk
03:53 PM aandrew: well I don't know if I'm right or not
03:53 PM aandrew: but rue mohr = rumor
03:54 PM aandrew: but that doesn't fit iwth nacht
03:54 PM aandrew: so I could be completely wrong
03:55 PM aandrew: what's in it? uhm... 2x isa modems (I think 56k but maybe 33k6 only), that video card and that other card, a couple PCI DVB-S cards, a PCI network card, a couple ANCIENT HC08/HC16 baords and BDM
03:55 PM polprog: wait.. which video card
03:56 PM polprog: im sorry, my eyes are closing and im reading the arts of electronics
03:56 PM polprog: or trying to
03:56 PM polprog: i dont wanna sleep yet... but im close to
03:56 PM aandrew: I hate AoE, good to put you to sleep though
03:57 PM aandrew: don't remember now, couple ISA video cards :-)
03:57 PM polprog: ah
03:57 PM polprog: whats a BDM?
03:57 PM polprog: i like AoE, i mean its huge but nice
03:57 PM polprog: i tried doing one of the excercises but didnt manage to do it
04:04 PM aandrew: BDM = Motorola's debug adapter
04:05 PM aandrew: I *think* that one is parallel port
04:05 PM aandrew: never liked Motorola's microcontrollers anyway :-)
04:05 PM polprog: ah, nice
04:05 PM aandrew: but those DVB-S PCI cards could be interesting. I used them in Linux for years
04:06 PM polprog: cool cool
04:06 PM aandrew: sadly I could not find my Arnewsh 68k dev boards, I would have included them
04:06 PM polprog: i hope it will come fast-ish.
04:06 PM polprog: its ok
04:06 PM polprog: i have the 8051s
04:06 PM polprog: :D
04:06 PM aandrew: I have no idea. at first the postage came up as $120 and I had a mini heart attack, but then went down to like $30 which I was happy with
04:07 PM polprog: thats still a lot. ill have to reimburse you
04:07 PM aandrew: I also sent my old Weller WES51 to a guy in California, price was the same
04:07 PM aandrew: nah, I am more than happy to give these things to someone who might have more use for them than I do
04:08 PM aandrew: I cannot stand the idea of throwing these out
04:18 PM aandrew: I have to get some more stuff together to send rue. unfortunately I can't send any of the heavy things
04:21 PM polprog: i think im getting closer to solving this
04:22 PM polprog: the problem is unreal, you have to prove that an amplifier stage with a grounded emitter with its operating point set as Vcc/2 will saturate when the temperature rises by 8C
04:22 PM polprog: i have a formula for delta T worked out
04:24 PM aandrew: that's interesting... for school or just for the fun of it?
04:24 PM polprog: for fun
04:24 PM aandrew: you've got a weird definition of fun
04:25 PM polprog: well, also a bit for future. we suppsoedly have electronics basics this semester
04:25 PM aandrew: mind you I think all of us do
04:25 PM polprog: heh
04:25 PM polprog: "I mean, accounting software counts as fun in my book, so I don’t set the bar super high" <-from an adjacent window, talking about mainframe software
04:25 PM polprog: someone else wrote that as the answer to what i sad, that there wasnt much fun software written for mainframes :v
04:31 PM polprog: screw this
04:43 PM polprog: oh, i have a book on 8051 basics
04:43 PM polprog: how could i miss it
05:00 PM polprog: nighters
05:01 PM aandrew: heh
05:01 PM aandrew: what book on 8051 basics do you have?
05:01 PM aandrew: I have to write some FX2LP code
05:01 PM polprog: ah just some examples for some obscure dev board
05:01 PM polprog: but the general idea is conveyed
05:02 PM polprog: i also have the intel's manual
05:02 PM polprog: https://web.mit.edu/6.115/www/document/8051.pdf
07:29 PM aandrew: man I fell down a serious rabbit hole
07:29 PM aandrew: I've grabbed all the relevant fx2lp docu I can find, and a bunch of github repos
07:29 PM aandrew: some interesting things in there
07:35 PM aandrew: I wonder what happened to fx2lib; september 12 last year like a hundred forks were made and no commits to the original past that date while everyone else has a lot of changes
09:16 PM rue_mohr: polprog, yes, there is an alternate meaning about a street of education, cant quite remember how it pulls off, but I regard life as the street of education
09:16 PM rue_mohr: and yea ruemohr -> rumor
09:19 PM Tom_L: i thought it could be a take off of rue aka kangaroo
09:19 PM rue_mohr: it is
09:19 PM rue_mohr: more kangaroo (nah)
09:20 PM rue_mohr: lots of directions on it
09:20 PM rue_mohr: :)
09:20 PM Tom_L: i got one IO left and i just found a need for it
09:20 PM Tom_L: well one output
09:20 PM rue_mohr: heh
09:21 PM Tom_L: to drive the estop relay for the enables
09:21 PM Tom_L: unless i wire it up different
09:22 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/configs/NEW_MILL_SHOP_2.7/estop1.png
09:22 PM Tom_L: i can probably use one of those signals to drive the pin
09:22 PM aandrew: Tom_L: what configuration tool is that?
09:22 PM Tom_L: hal showpin
09:22 PM Tom_L: or something like that
09:22 PM aandrew: for what device I mean
09:23 PM Tom_L: linuxcnc
09:23 PM aandrew: ahh
09:23 PM Tom_L: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/hal/halshow.html
09:23 PM Tom_L: it's the watch window
09:24 PM Tom_L: more 'live' than the 'show' one
09:26 PM rue_mohr: drat, I slept thru the bit I needed
09:28 PM Tom_L: fall starts tomorrow
09:33 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, do you know the standard pinout of a din rail relay mount?
09:33 PM Tom_L: dpdt
09:41 PM rue_mohr: coild 2 and 7
09:41 PM rue_mohr: one set of contacts is .... 1 and....
09:41 PM rue_mohr: no
09:44 PM Tom_L: i'll beep test it
09:45 PM rue_shop1: beep
09:54 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Wiring/AllenBradleyRelay1.jpg
09:54 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Wiring/AllenBradleyRelay2.jpg
10:01 PM Tom_L: it's not what you'd expect
10:05 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Wiring/AllenBradleyRelay3.jpg
10:14 PM Tom_L: rue_shop1, would it be ok to wire the estops in series? +5.--/ --.--/ --.Signal pin
10:15 PM Tom_L: one is the pendant button which is momentary and the other requires a reset twist
10:15 PM Tom_L: many ways to do it, just wondered what the best would be
10:16 PM rue_shop1: yea, its that other type
10:17 PM rue_shop1: going to use an opto to drive it again?
10:17 PM rue_shop1: 24V right?
10:17 PM Tom_L: it has an opto on it yes
10:17 PM Tom_L: 5v to 24v out
10:17 PM Tom_L: i have one of those relays already wired up i was using for something else
10:17 PM rue_shop1: remember we used the opto-isolator to directly drive the relay?
10:18 PM Tom_L: i'll repurpose it
10:18 PM Tom_L: yes i made 2
10:18 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Control4.jpg
10:18 PM Tom_L: the perf board there
10:19 PM Tom_L: the spare relay is next to it
10:19 PM Tom_L: most of those electronics on the door will be gone
10:19 PM Tom_L: those 2 boards are for the sherline motor
10:20 PM Tom_L: and the blue relay
10:20 PM Tom_L: to the 'inhibit' line on it so it starts it's ramp cycle over
10:20 PM Tom_L: it's just a tiny pulse that triggers it
10:20 PM Tom_L: at 110v :)
10:21 PM Tom_L: the yellow/orange wires going to it
10:24 PM Tom_L: i forgot what diode i put across that relay you see there
10:24 PM Tom_L: on the din mount
10:29 PM rue_shop1: no motor stuff yet tho?
10:29 PM Tom_L: i'm guessing another 2 weeks at least
10:29 PM Tom_L: then i gotta find the center distance and order pulleys
10:30 PM Tom_L: i've got them picked out, just not the belt lengths
10:31 PM Tom_L: then i'll have to drill those out and broach a couple for the motor shaft
10:32 PM Tom_L: i've been going thru mapping all the pins again
10:33 PM Tom_L: that's how i found the spare io
10:41 PM Tom_L: how's the stone masonry going?
10:45 PM rue_mohr: slept today
11:03 PM rue_mohr: ok, one printer is doing a thing for tommorow morning at work that I'd almost forgotten about, and the other is doing parts for the power supply
11:03 PM rue_mohr: the supper machine has me some rice
