12:00 AM rue_mohr: I wonder how suppers doing, I kinda messed it up
01:39 AM rue_bed2: I think salad dressing can fix anything
01:41 AM rue_bed2: ok, tommorow I want to get the masking done for painting the faceplate of the power supply
01:42 AM polprog: [04:44] aandrew: the bit banding is kind of cool in theory
01:42 AM rue_bed2: I need to mask off everything that will be clear or silver
01:42 AM polprog: i totally forgot about that wow
01:42 AM polprog: hi rue_bed2
01:42 AM rue_bed2: ... your up now?
01:42 AM polprog: yeah
01:42 AM polprog: imma take a shower
01:42 AM rue_bed2: I'm going to sleep
01:42 AM rue_bed2: or not
01:42 AM polprog: driving school in 1 and half hour
01:43 AM rue_bed2: less school, more electronics
01:43 AM polprog: i could rewrite the lcd driver with bit banding.. cleaner code
01:43 AM rue_bed2: I cant play along, I dont have one of those screens
01:43 AM rue_bed2: its from a xerox something?
01:44 AM polprog: no, i mean the small one
01:44 AM polprog: i havent gotten around to the big one yet
01:45 AM rue_bed2: that will be harder
01:45 AM rue_bed2: remember the one that I did with the fpga?
01:45 AM rue_bed2: yea, yours is harder, more channels
01:45 AM polprog: yeah i do
01:46 AM polprog: other distractions for today include: a 3d hammong distance plotting project, and a GAL/FPGA based Rule 90 automator
01:46 AM polprog: automaton*
01:46 AM rue_bed2: hey, but you have one of those fpgas dont ya
01:46 AM polprog: yea
01:47 AM polprog: oh, right, you had to repurpose the phone board
01:47 AM rue_bed2: no
01:47 AM polprog: no?
01:48 AM polprog: https://polprog.net/rozne1/ircjunk/fpga/spartan6_board.jpg
01:48 AM polprog: you got this?
01:48 AM rue_bed2: yup thats it
01:49 AM polprog: :)
01:49 AM polprog: allright
01:49 AM polprog: gotta go make breakfast...
01:55 AM rue_bed2: do you have part numbers for the controllers on it?
01:55 AM rue_bed2: shold be an array of 2 or 4 rows by up to 8 long
02:03 AM polprog: yeah ,i did a bit of reversing on it before
02:03 AM polprog: https://polprog.net/rozne1/ircjunk/xerox_lcd/
02:03 AM polprog: its all here
02:03 AM rue_bed2: oh yea those chips
02:03 AM rue_bed2: I think I'v worked with them before
02:03 AM rue_bed2: some of hte lcd contollers need a negitive bias, I wonder if that one does
02:03 AM rue_bed2: the one I did with the fpga needed -5V
02:03 AM rue_bed2: the power should be
02:03 AM rue_bed2: gnd, 5V, vee (-5V?), and a contrast adjust (resistor to ground)
02:19 AM polprog: yeah, i need to sit to it and finish beeping the pins out
05:07 AM zhanx_workshop_: morning
06:01 AM polprog: morning
09:03 AM rue_mohr: mnrmninmgng
10:03 AM polprog: hmm
10:03 AM polprog: i need to express a xor operation as a sum of products
03:48 PM polprog: 22:47, should i kick start the lab pc and do GALs or go to bed
05:18 PM polprog: automaton done
05:18 PM polprog: https://twitter.com/polprogpl/status/1306718595997675521
05:26 PM polprog: rule 90
05:26 PM polprog: aka xor
05:26 PM polprog: XOR makes great patterns, like the munching squares
05:26 PM polprog: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_90
07:39 PM aandrew: heh, so I asked the libopencm3 guy about the lack of gpio_set(state) and he said the gpio stuff is one of hte oldest parts of libopencm3 and likely he wondered whether he shoudl use bsrr or not and never got back to finishing that decision :-)
08:36 PM rue_mohr: ok ok plan
08:36 PM rue_mohr: set the stones in the pillers that I figured out, and then do the masking for the power supply face
08:37 PM rue_mohr: supper sleep and go to work tommorow
08:37 PM rue_mohr: wake up some time just before lunch, finish the work day, and get home
08:51 PM rue_mohr: oops nodded off
08:51 PM rue_mohr: maybe I'll try that again
10:00 PM Tom_L: start over
10:20 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1170359.jpg
10:20 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1170360.jpg
10:21 PM rue_mohr: slowly growing
10:22 PM rue_mohr: I masked and gave the faceplate a first layer of paint
10:23 PM rue_mohr: no text labels, cant work out a good way to do it
10:23 PM rue_mohr: I'd like scrollwork too, :(
10:24 PM rue_mohr: if I were really good with a oriental brush I bet I could have done it
10:42 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1170361.jpg
10:42 PM rue_mohr: zhanx_workshop_, more noise from you would be nice eh?
11:01 PM zhanx_workshop_: nice, soldered an aluminum heat sink to copper pipe how is that?
11:03 PM rue_mohr: exotic
11:03 PM rue_mohr: was the solder to do that trickey to find?
11:03 PM rue_mohr: did it require exotic flux?
11:09 PM zhanx_workshop_: no and no
11:09 PM zhanx_workshop_: i silver soldered it
11:09 PM rue_mohr: *blink*
11:09 PM rue_mohr: I didn't know
11:09 PM rue_mohr: low temp silver solder tho?
11:09 PM zhanx_workshop_: nope
11:09 PM rue_mohr: I'm sure silver solder is way over the melting point of alum
11:10 PM zhanx_workshop_: it is
11:10 PM rue_mohr: pulse tig?
11:10 PM rue_mohr: laser?
11:10 PM zhanx_workshop_: 1" id by 3" od heat sink
11:10 PM zhanx_workshop_: map torch
11:11 PM zhanx_workshop_: lots of flux
11:11 PM rue_mohr: I recon you have to move fast too
11:11 PM zhanx_workshop_: yep
11:11 PM zhanx_workshop_: pre heat is key
11:11 PM rue_mohr: what number tip you got?
11:11 PM rue_mohr: 0?
11:11 PM rue_mohr: 00?
11:11 PM zhanx_workshop_: 0
11:11 PM rue_mohr: with oxy?
11:12 PM zhanx_workshop_: no the oxy screws it up
11:12 PM rue_mohr: wow
11:12 PM zhanx_workshop_: remember i can make stuff
11:12 PM rue_mohr: doesn't sound like a super high-perfomance flame to do that with
11:13 PM rue_mohr: OMG a $10000 laptop.
11:13 PM rue_mohr: I have to get a computer for school
11:13 PM rue_mohr: looking for a descent AMD for ~$800
11:13 PM zhanx_workshop_: rue really the prep work is super key
11:14 PM zhanx_workshop_: has to be CLEAN clean
11:14 PM rue_mohr: well, yea alum
11:14 PM zhanx_workshop_: not my best joint but its fully done
11:15 PM rue_mohr: thats for a collector, emitter, or sensor?
11:15 PM zhanx_workshop_: sterling engine mod?
11:16 PM rue_mohr: hmm
11:16 PM rue_mohr: how big?
11:16 PM zhanx_workshop_: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LEDPROFILES-US-Stock-Round-LED-Aluminum-Heatsink-2007ASL-90mm-3-54/303474100894
11:16 PM zhanx_workshop_: that is the heat sink
11:18 PM zhanx_workshop_: oh and large
11:40 PM rue_mohr: zhanx_workshop_,
11:40 PM rue_mohr: I have a kitchen in my fishtank
11:40 PM rue_mohr: no, reverse that
11:40 PM rue_mohr: I have a fishtank in my kitchen
11:40 PM rue_mohr: I have water plants in the fish tank
11:40 PM rue_mohr: what types of food plants do you think I should grow in my kitchen over the fishtank
11:40 PM rue_mohr: or (NULL)
11:44 PM zhanx_workshop_: lettuce to start
11:44 PM rue_mohr: hmmm
11:44 PM rue_mohr: flood-ponics?
11:44 PM rue_mohr: keep the roots dark?
11:45 PM zhanx_workshop_: yep
11:45 PM rue_mohr: 3 goldfish
11:45 PM zhanx_workshop_: used the top tank as a filter for it
11:45 PM rue_mohr: dont you want the plants to get the goo?
11:45 PM rue_mohr: they can plug up a sock in a day
11:45 PM zhanx_workshop_: yea so you change the pickup to draw off the bottom
11:46 PM rue_mohr: I'm talking down to 2% flow
11:46 PM rue_mohr: thru a sock
11:46 PM rue_mohr: a whole long sock
11:46 PM rue_mohr: I gave up with filters
11:46 PM rue_mohr: lettuce should be good w/ lower light levels?... big leaves
11:48 PM zhanx_workshop_: yep
11:48 PM zhanx_workshop_: i will have a new video out tomorrow
11:52 PM rue_mohr: ok, did I subscribe?
11:52 PM rue_mohr: hmm
11:52 PM zhanx_workshop_: i think so
