12:00 AM rue_mohr: well I need to deal with the jukebox
12:06 AM rue_mohr: maybe an auto-backup would be a good feasure
12:06 AM rue_mohr: *sigh* find a machine and a few hard drives
12:06 AM rue_mohr: RAID THIS TIME
12:06 AM rue_mohr: you know, if I plug in the pentium 100 that was the ORIGIONAL jukebox, it still works...
12:06 AM rue_mohr: just a tad slow
12:06 AM rue_mohr: ok, something doesn't add up, I remember it having a parallel cable, but using a laptop hard drive
12:06 AM rue_mohr: so, which thing is wrong
03:46 AM polprog: http://forums.sailinganarchy.com/index.php?/topic/217182-clueless/
10:31 AM rue_mohr: the blue sail looks like its positioned wrong, did it lose a rope?
10:34 AM polprog: i think the blue sail is okay, id be worried about the trahsed sail on the front
10:48 AM rue_shop1: ok I found hard drives for the jukebox
10:49 AM rue_shop1: and I remmebered where the peices of metal come from I keep remembering about for holding the shelter to the shop
10:49 AM rue_shop1: (bed frames)
10:50 AM Tom_L: whoz wendy?
10:50 AM Tom_L: the store or someone else?
11:00 AM Tom_L: oh nevermind.. i was thinking of spangles
11:00 AM Tom_L: i know one of the principles of spangles
11:17 AM rue_mohr: wendy, from wendys
11:18 AM rue_mohr: hmm
11:19 AM Tom_L: different chain
11:19 AM rue_mohr: oh
11:19 AM rue_mohr: I got up early so I can meet a buddy before 12
11:20 AM Tom_L: you might make it
11:20 AM rue_mohr: he's comming here
11:20 AM rue_mohr: I just need to be awake
11:20 AM rue_mohr: had shower
11:21 AM rue_mohr: polprog, to drive that array, I really only need two 1-8 decoders
11:21 AM rue_mohr: 1 or 8
11:21 AM rue_mohr: 1 of 8
11:21 AM rue_mohr: ok, I cant trype
11:22 AM polprog: what array?
11:22 AM polprog: the lightbulb?
11:22 AM rue_mohr: that 8x8 array for that fiber thing
11:22 AM polprog: ah
11:22 AM rue_mohr: did you catch the fiber thing
11:22 AM polprog: yeah
11:22 AM rue_mohr: yea
11:22 AM polprog: youre making an indicator
11:22 AM rue_mohr: yea, a bar graph
11:23 AM rue_mohr: 64 led 5cm bar graph
11:23 AM rue_mohr: medium-low resolution, medium size
11:23 AM rue_mohr: the inter-led leakage is a bit annoying
11:23 AM rue_mohr: I think its the clear glue I used
11:23 AM rue_mohr: I think black glue would fix that
11:24 AM rue_mohr: pondering how to do the code
11:25 AM rue_mohr: I really want to use a breakout chip of some kind and like a tiny13, but the breakout chip would be the same size as the atmega8 that could just do it all anyhow
11:26 AM rue_mohr: I think all I need to do is leave one of the ports low and the other high, and just switch the output enables
11:26 AM polprog: hmm, no idea
11:26 AM polprog: how big is the array?
11:26 AM rue_mohr: externally, the rows just need resistors
11:26 AM rue_mohr: 8x8
11:26 AM polprog: yeah but in mm
11:26 AM rue_mohr: oh... its like ....
11:26 AM rue_mohr: its about 19.98mm
11:27 AM polprog: ok
11:27 AM polprog: i was imagining a backpack board for it with the control stuff
11:27 AM polprog: but thats just because i am making a raspi addon board for myself
11:27 AM rue_mohr: yea, however its behind everything anyhow
11:27 AM polprog: 2x mcp3002 and a max232
11:27 AM rue_mohr: mcp3002....
11:28 AM polprog: 10 bit spi adc
11:28 AM rue_mohr: haha sar?
11:28 AM polprog: sar?
11:28 AM rue_mohr: oh adc
11:28 AM rue_mohr: must be a sar adc
11:28 AM polprog: yeah
11:28 AM rue_mohr: thats a nice compact one
11:29 AM rue_mohr: if I wake up at 11 and go to bed at 2am
11:29 AM rue_mohr: 15 hours
11:30 AM rue_mohr: I need to make that a button on the tea machine
11:30 AM rue_mohr: clicking 8 hours more than once a day is annoying
11:30 AM rue_mohr: cause in the middle is a cold tea
11:31 AM rue_mohr: is the 3002 cheap?
11:31 AM rue_mohr: wait polprog
11:31 AM rue_mohr: its 10 bit
11:31 AM rue_mohr: polprog, I bet you a tiny26 is cheaper than the mcp3002
11:31 AM polprog: heh
11:31 AM polprog: maybe
11:31 AM polprog: but i cba to program one :P
11:31 AM polprog: actually i have some tinys
11:32 AM polprog: actually im an idiot
11:32 AM rue_mohr: I could not find a 10 bit adc cheaper/channel than the tiny26
11:32 AM polprog: i have AD samples coming my way
11:32 AM rue_mohr: specifically the tiny26
11:32 AM polprog: i should design it around these
11:32 AM rue_mohr: iirc the tiny26 has like 12 channels
11:33 AM polprog: wow
11:33 AM polprog: nice
11:33 AM polprog: yeah i should wait for the samples to come
11:33 AM polprog: or read about them
11:33 AM polprog: but the idea is to have a nice ADC board that would also have rs232 console port if space permits
11:34 AM rue_mohr: yep
11:37 AM polprog: yeah ill design it for the ADC i ordered last night
11:38 AM polprog: one TL074 does the antialiasing filter
11:38 AM polprog: ill have to see if that helps
11:38 AM polprog: the board i posted on twitter was measuring the temperature and there was a spurious sine wavish pattern
11:38 AM polprog: not sure if that was noise aliasing
11:38 AM polprog: but the TL074 should help
12:10 PM KitchenMoon: hay rue_mohr do you have another printer spooler I can try?
12:11 PM KitchenMoon: not this Dlink one
12:14 PM rue_shop1: maybe
12:14 PM rue_shop1: sean is here were working on the sprayers, ma just arrived with a thing that needs welding and I need to get some work done on the driveway pillars today
12:14 PM rue_shop1: and fix the jukebox
12:15 PM KitchenMoon: wow
01:10 PM rue_mohr: ok, eating breakfast...
01:11 PM rue_mohr: found 2 hard drives and 2 adapters for the jukebox
01:11 PM rue_mohr: need to set up temp hardware to install linux on them
01:12 PM polprog: what is the jukebox gonna run on
01:12 PM polprog: and what player do you use?
01:12 PM rue_mohr: its a mini itx
01:12 PM rue_mohr: I use mpg123
01:13 PM rue_mohr: Its hard drive failed and I have to redo
01:13 PM rue_mohr: this is the 3rd hard drive lost on this machine (3rd set of hardware for the machine too) so I'm going to raid it
01:14 PM polprog: ok
01:14 PM polprog: good idea
01:14 PM rue_mohr: after about 10 years of operation on a pentium 1, (100Mhz) I upgraded it to some modern hardware, since then I dont think its gone even 2 years without some kinda major breakdown
01:14 PM polprog: hmm, im looking at mocp
01:14 PM polprog: is it just running in the bg with no control?
01:14 PM rue_mohr: webpage control
01:15 PM polprog: cool
01:22 PM rue_mohr: ok, finished breakfast
01:22 PM rue_mohr: get dressed and do welding for ma
01:52 PM rue_mohr: ok, sean did his stuff, ma has her stuff welded
01:52 PM rue_mohr: jukebox is no farther along
01:52 PM rue_mohr: and I'llwork on lunch and driveway pillars
01:52 PM rue_mohr: also need to round up a machine for the palasm
03:07 PM Tom_L: and install smartcam on one
03:07 PM Tom_L: :)
04:03 PM rue_shop2: heh
04:04 PM rue_shop2: its on a list somewhere
04:04 PM rue_shop2: its ok with dos 6.22 right?
04:05 PM rue_shop1: ok I got a few rows on the driveway pillars
04:05 PM rue_shop1: need a break
04:11 PM Tom_L: 6.22 for what?
04:14 PM rue_mohr: DOS 6.22 for the smartcam
04:16 PM rue_mohr: wow, headache
04:19 PM rue_mohr: things must not be going well, aliexpress is frantically pushing me to buy things based on searches I'v done
04:20 PM Tom_L: no it runs under windows
04:21 PM rue_mohr: oh
04:21 PM rue_mohr: palcam is just dos
04:21 PM rue_mohr: hmm
04:21 PM rue_mohr: need to wake myself up
04:22 PM * Tom_L pours some tea down rue_mohr's gullet
04:25 PM * rue_mohr follows it with lots more
04:50 PM polprog: ok
04:50 PM polprog: AD7888
04:50 PM polprog: badass
04:50 PM polprog: 125ksps, 8 channel sar
04:50 PM polprog: 12 bit
04:51 PM polprog: the schematic is mostly done
04:51 PM polprog: i dont have any idea what to do with ref in/ref out
04:51 PM polprog: and i need to see if TL074 is RRIO
04:51 PM polprog: i should set up a cgi script to search datasheets
04:53 PM polprog: hmm, i have to rethink opamp choice
04:58 PM polprog: LM324 may be okay. and it fits the footprint
05:05 PM rue_mohr: 074 is not
05:05 PM rue_mohr: about 2.5V headroom from either iirc
05:06 PM rue_mohr: would you like some r-r part numbers?
05:07 PM rue_mohr: wow, I was down for an houR?
05:07 PM rue_mohr: no, about half an hour
05:07 PM polprog: nap attack like Garfield has?
05:07 PM polprog: yeah, i would like some
05:07 PM rue_mohr: ok, thats still a surprise
05:07 PM polprog: preferably quad opamps
05:07 PM rue_mohr: ok, one is MCP6002
05:08 PM rue_mohr: I think its only good for 5V
05:08 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, those only get worse
05:08 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, I'v found that no amount of energy drink etc will thwart it
05:09 PM Tom_L: caffine doesn't help anything it just prolongs it
05:09 PM polprog: 5V is good
05:09 PM polprog: the adc is run from 5V
05:09 PM rue_mohr: polprog, ok, mcp 6004 I suspect on the quad
05:10 PM rue_shop1: raining, kinda suspected that was comming
05:10 PM polprog: hmm, why dont i have this opamp
05:10 PM polprog: good excuse to order some
05:10 PM Tom_L: won't screw up your mortar work will it?
05:12 PM rue_shop1: na
05:13 PM polprog: bad luck i sent the gerbers to the boardhouse for price estimate on friday night
05:13 PM polprog: ill see when will they respond
05:14 PM polprog: i went to oshpark website today
05:15 PM polprog: and decided to convert the $5/in2 price to what we use here
05:15 PM polprog: it comes out as $78/dm2
05:15 PM polprog: the boardhouse i ordered at (domestic!) is about $7 /dm2
05:15 PM polprog: what on earth am i missing???
05:15 PM polprog: i order at*
08:17 PM rue_mohr: ? strange
08:23 PM Tom_L: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/749283134893457459/749796053737275422/image0.png?width=522&height=593
08:31 PM rue_mohr: wow
08:31 PM rue_mohr: not seen a rim quite like that one
08:34 PM rue_mohr: I have about 120 cut pieces of rock ready
08:35 PM Tom_L: what'd the sprayer guy get done today?
08:35 PM rue_mohr: we went thru how to cold start the cnc computer and did some banking
08:38 PM Tom_L: took my spindle apart and looked it over. i'm pretty sure i can fit it with 15mm pulleys instead of 9mm
08:39 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/new_pulleys/spindle_enc8.jpg
08:39 PM Tom_L: i got about that much room to work with
08:53 PM rue_mohr: oh my
08:53 PM rue_mohr: how about taking the tach off the motor?
08:53 PM Tom_L: no way
08:53 PM rue_mohr: maybe not, your playing with position
08:54 PM rue_mohr: you could spin the bracket around and mount it from standoffs tho
08:54 PM Tom_L: i can use the hall feedback from the motor to the control for rpm but i want the encoder for things like tapping etc
08:54 PM rue_mohr: yea
08:54 PM Tom_L: just a bit ago i cut a recess in the bottom of the pulley so it comes closer to the spindle nut
08:54 PM Tom_L: that gave me a bit more room
08:55 PM Tom_L: that one is 9mm and i want 15
08:55 PM Tom_L: i could also cut off the hub and put the screw in the pulley part but i'd rather not do that
08:56 PM Tom_L: i won't do anything until i've got all the parts in hand
08:56 PM rue_mohr: yea
08:56 PM Tom_L: i need to pin the pulley on that shaft though
08:57 PM Tom_L: the grub isn't holding it very good
08:57 PM Tom_L: not enough room for a key slot
08:57 PM rue_mohr: always 2 grubs 90 degrees apart
08:57 PM rue_mohr: holds every time
08:57 PM Tom_L: the pulleys come that way
08:58 PM Tom_L: i filed a flat on part of it
08:59 PM rue_mohr: did you show me the guy doing chain sprockets on a cnc?
09:00 PM Tom_L: i dunno, did you see the pipe one?
09:00 PM Tom_L: nothing but pipe fittings and pipe
09:02 PM Tom_L: oh, we used to have a guy in linuxcnc that made bike sprockets but he's been gone for quite a while
09:30 PM rue_mohr: dont know where I first saw it
10:04 PM rue_mohr: ok I need to switch the net boot back to 32 bit
10:06 PM Tom_L: sounds like that could get ugly
10:08 PM rue_mohr: been a while I'd switched it to 64 bit for doing some fancy machines
10:08 PM rue_mohr: that might work...
10:23 PM zhanx_workshop: ok top of smelter done now needs to dry more
10:24 PM zhanx_workshop: this time with hole om the center
10:24 PM zhanx_workshop: this time with hole om the center
10:24 PM zhanx_workshop: oops
10:46 PM rue_mohr: ;)
10:58 PM zhanx_workshop: once it sits up a few days i will propane fire it.
10:58 PM zhanx_workshop: i used fire clay this time
11:57 PM rue_mohr: main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/
11:59 PM zhanx_workshop: why netboot?
11:59 PM zhanx_workshop: why not alt-image-install?
