12:02 AM rue_shop1: I noticed pitting in the rice pot
12:08 AM rue_shop1: :/
12:08 AM Tom_L: you're doomed!
12:08 AM Tom_L: rice falls into that category
12:08 AM Tom_L: ph lower than 6 is considered acidic
12:22 AM rue_mohr: coatings wear off
04:49 AM polprog: making a wooden spoon rue_mohr ?
04:50 AM rue_shop2: I got stuck and stopped
05:07 AM polprog: i remember a friend made one while sailing, in about a week
05:07 AM rue_mohr: heh
05:08 AM rue_mohr: I just need to 'spoon it out'
05:08 AM polprog: i think it was a fork actually :P
05:08 AM rue_mohr: not doing that with a chisel!
05:09 AM rue_mohr: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EdR8hsnXoAAjDHX?format=jpg&name=small
05:09 AM rue_mohr: interesting clamp idea
05:09 AM rue_mohr: slots make up the difference
06:30 AM Tom_L: rue_mohr, strap clamps
06:32 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Assembly/Final/Strap_clamp.jpg
06:32 AM Tom_L: i've made a few
06:33 AM Tom_L: thread a hole near the rear and put a screw in it to level them out for better clamping too
06:33 AM Tom_L: avoids the need for 'shims' on the back side
06:34 AM rue_mohr: oo thats steel isn't it?
06:35 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A3/A3_P1.jpg
06:35 AM Tom_L: it is
06:36 AM Tom_L: 5/16"
06:43 AM Tom_L: you could cut the slots with an angle grinder too
06:44 AM Tom_L: a hole on each end and slot the middle with the grinder
06:47 AM Tom_L: the newer ceramic coatings on potwarez is pretty tough and long lasting
06:47 AM Tom_L: teflon would wear off eventually
07:29 AM rue_mohr: woof
07:29 AM rue_mohr: looks like heavy cuts
07:41 AM rue_mohr: damnit, its 5:30 and the sun came up
10:42 AM polprog: sunrise is a beautiful view
12:57 PM polprog: the 6102 long tailed pair is working ^_^
01:04 PM Tom_L: :)
01:10 PM polprog: https://twitter.com/polprogpl/status/1284911000475623425?s=19
01:10 PM polprog: the bottom transistor, on pins 3, 4 can be used as a current source. pretty clever
02:16 PM polprog: delay line amplifier... 5mVpp -> 100mVpp
02:16 PM polprog: but it seems to be *very* picky about resistor values, both for the bias (nothing besides 2x100k works), nor for the current source (nothing besides 1k base, 1k emitter works)
02:19 PM polprog: 5mVpp -> 60mVpp...
02:19 PM polprog: lets try the classic pot move
02:20 PM polprog: best i can do is 67mVpp
02:20 PM rue_mohr: with delay lines, you usually have a series input resistor and a parallel output resistor
02:21 PM rue_mohr: see if you can find a VCR schematic online, the output amp is usually just 1 transistor
02:21 PM rue_mohr: :)
02:21 PM rue_mohr: (to compare)
02:21 PM polprog: hmm
02:22 PM polprog: i mean, i have another delay line that gives me 4Vpp output for a 4Vpp input :P
02:22 PM polprog: the 400-something ns one
02:22 PM polprog: but i want to get this 64ns one working
02:23 PM Tom_L: good morning
02:23 PM Tom_L: err...
02:26 PM rue_mohr: :)
02:26 PM Tom_L: looking over that gear macro
02:26 PM rue_mohr: k
02:26 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure i can figure it out
02:27 PM rue_mohr: the math is brutal eh?
02:27 PM Tom_L: i followed a solidworks turorial on how to construct one
02:27 PM Tom_L: so i have a little better understanding
02:27 PM rue_mohr: I actually paid for software
02:27 PM Tom_L: !?!?!?!?!???
02:28 PM Tom_L: what project was that for?
02:28 PM Tom_L: i just want to get the macro working right
03:30 PM rue_shop1: I wanted it generically for the 3d printer
03:30 PM rue_shop1: its the woodgears.ca windows program
03:30 PM rue_shop1: I made a library of lots of gears all seperated and scaled nicely
03:30 PM Tom_L: no source?
03:31 PM Tom_L: can you give me good numbers on a gear again?
03:37 PM Tom_L: i'll use the sw example as a test pattern
03:40 PM Tom_L: interesting
03:40 PM Tom_L: a gear can be defined by 2 parameters
03:41 PM Tom_L: number of teeth and the module which is a ratio of teeth and diameter
03:42 PM Tom_L: so 36 teeth would be a 72 diameter and a module of 2
03:43 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure how that relates to pitch
08:02 PM Tom_L: getting closer
09:44 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/gear_macro.jpg
09:44 PM Tom_L: needs a little more work
09:45 PM Tom_L: but my eyes are tired now
11:24 PM rue_shop1: do you want those same numbers again?
11:24 PM rue_shop1: that looks better
11:26 PM Tom_L: naw i'm using some from a sw tutorial
11:27 PM Tom_L: i'm not crazy about the input parameters though
