12:00 AM zhanx: Rue_shop1 and my phone just alerted me to this : China bubonic plague: Inner Mongolia takes precautions after cases
12:06 AM rue_mohr: hmmm
12:06 AM rue_mohr: something is trying to make every human stay in their house indefinitly
12:06 AM zhanx: Not me. I has land now
12:22 AM rue_mohr: oh gnight
12:23 AM aandrew: yeah I have 0.9ac. I'm happy to be mostly quarantined here. :-)
12:23 AM rue_mohr: ho hum, work tommorow
12:24 AM rue_mohr: over the week I'll see if I can tweek the handshake on the cnc spooler, add the 4th gear to the gearbox, and write some sine pwm stuff for the atmega88
05:00 PM polprog: maybe i should try and keep poking around these SMPS boards
05:00 PM polprog: it would be nice if i found a fix, im sure all 4 have the same issue
05:11 PM polprog: the 5 dumb terminals with dead PSUs are scattered around the room, they are thin so easy to cram somewhere
05:11 PM polprog: but i want to fix them up because they are so simple it might come in handy
05:28 PM Tom_L: got my cutters today
05:56 PM rue_mohr: ah good show
05:57 PM rue_mohr: so, all my cutters have spiral flues
05:57 PM rue_mohr: I was doing a lamacoid label for work
05:57 PM rue_mohr: realized I need straight cutters for it
05:58 PM rue_mohr: the spiral pulls a lip like I have the problem with on the adapter thing
05:58 PM aandrew: polprog: heh, sounds like my blades
05:58 PM polprog: sun blades?
05:59 PM aandrew: I have two Tyan blades for my Dell C6100 which have the exact same failure mode. I wish I could find a service manual for them
05:59 PM polprog: ah
06:00 PM polprog: im a bit scared to probe that stuff since it is live mains, *and* my isolation transformer has got receptacles that dont fit this
06:00 PM polprog: and im not sure what is wrong with it..
06:00 PM polprog: it may be the feedback that is dead or the controller
06:04 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/cutters/corner_rounding1.jpg
06:04 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/cutters/corner_rounding2.jpg
06:06 PM Tom_L: happy with the quality for sure
06:07 PM rue_mohr: needs a project
06:09 PM Tom_L: i _would_ have used them on this if i had them then: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Assembly/Final/Vise_parts/Speedhandle2.jpg
06:10 PM rue_mohr: doesn't mean you cant do a v2
06:10 PM Tom_L: i only need one
06:10 PM rue_mohr: doesn't mean you cant do a v2
06:10 PM Tom_L: don't wanna waste the aluminum
06:10 PM rue_mohr: ok
06:11 PM aandrew: yeah I'm a lot "safer" in that regard but PC power supplies have scary current
06:11 PM aandrew: rue_mohr: surely you jest
06:11 PM rue_mohr: oh yea, I need to make a true sine inverter
06:11 PM aandrew: you don't have at least eleventy seven on the go?
06:11 PM rue_mohr: no I mean toms bit needs a project
06:12 PM rue_mohr: I need a hole in my head to let a few leak out
06:13 PM polprog: polprog, do you remember that VFD power supply?
06:13 PM rue_mohr: ....
06:13 PM polprog: oh yeah, I do. Do you remember the NiCD charger? just need to solder it
06:13 PM polprog: oh, that yeah
06:13 PM polprog: what about that old Sun board? and that other one?
06:14 PM polprog: i dont have time for that now!
06:14 PM polprog: noooo
06:14 PM polprog: leave me alone
06:14 PM polprog: i wonder where the 12V lead acid batteries are, i could convert one to use in the vhs camocrder
06:14 PM polprog: aaaaaaaaaaaaa
06:15 PM polprog: but hey i fixed the video mixer..
06:16 PM Tom_L: ur starting to sound like rue
06:17 PM polprog: moi? non..
06:23 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, you need the spiral to clear the chips. you may just need sharper cutters
06:24 PM Tom_L: that is why you take a rather small cut with a reamer
06:24 PM Tom_L: they for the most part are straight flute
06:26 PM Tom_L: with that out there, i've got all 3 styles: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/thread_mills/Reamers.jpg
06:27 PM Tom_L: the reverse flute was designed for a rifle barrel
06:27 PM Tom_L: (center one)
06:37 PM polprog: goodnight
06:38 PM Tom_L: gnite
07:08 PM rue_mohr: no flat to not pull the edge up
07:11 PM Tom_L: what are you cutting with it?
07:12 PM Tom_L: those plastic bearing flanges?
07:12 PM Tom_L: plastic is either real stringy or burns quick
07:38 PM rue_mohr: lamacoid
07:38 PM rue_mohr: the lamacoid seems to need a striaght edge
07:39 PM rue_mohr: not a spiral bit
07:42 PM Tom_L: oh, multi ply plastic
07:43 PM Tom_L: for name tags etc
07:44 PM rue_mohr: I think the stuff I was working with was painted pvc tho
07:44 PM Tom_L: so it should be rather machinable
07:44 PM rue_mohr: the top layer didn't cut off ok, it flared, like the coupler
07:44 PM Tom_L: too hot?
07:45 PM rue_mohr: thats why I say straight instead of spiral cutter
07:45 PM rue_mohr: not heat, just flare from not breaking away
07:45 PM Tom_L: mmm
07:45 PM rue_mohr: the cutter pulls up on the edge,
07:45 PM rue_mohr: a straight cutter wouldn't do that
07:45 PM rue_mohr: only 0.1mm deep tho
07:45 PM Tom_L: normal use on that would be a V cutter so yeah they would be flat
07:47 PM Tom_L: probably similar reason for that reverse flute gun reamer
07:47 PM Tom_L: get a cleaner hole
09:20 PM rue_mohr: I was pondering reverse
09:21 PM rue_mohr: but I dont think you can blind downcut
09:21 PM Tom_L: no cutting edge
09:21 PM Tom_L: it would just burn
09:21 PM rue_shop1: k, straight then
