01:45 AM polprog: aandrew: thats spam :v
01:51 AM polprog: not cat food
07:40 AM aandrew: rue_mohr: how small is small for true sine inverters
07:42 AM aandrew: oh, like 100W? why not just use PWM and a pair of mosfets to drive a center-tapped 12-120V transformer backward?
08:15 AM rue_bed: yea
08:22 AM rue_bed: or dc-dc boost and modulate
10:31 AM aandrew: sounds like something easily done with a few 555s...
10:43 AM aandrew: hah, nice: https://youtu.be/7cC9ShsK6qI
10:43 AM aandrew: although I'd need one to separate machine from self-taping and then also by thread pitch and diameter
11:02 AM polprog: rue_bed: i brought a bit printer from the trash to the basement, neighbour left it next to the bins
11:02 AM polprog: theres a huge motor inside and some nice cogwheels
11:02 AM polprog: ill take it apart further later
04:35 PM Tom_L: mmm, took the paper shredder all apart thinking the feed microswitch was bad. cleaned it all up inside and found nothing wrong. still didn't work and then i noticed the screw in fuse in the back had unscrewed
04:35 PM Tom_L: oh well. at least it's clean
07:37 PM rue_mohr: aandrew, yes indeed
07:37 PM rue_mohr: I dont think my screws are consistant enough tho
07:46 PM Tom_L: what was your reason for not converting your first cnc?
07:47 PM Tom_L: oh, the height maps
07:47 PM Tom_L: there's a program out there that will do that but i forgot the name
07:48 PM rue_mohr: and the program your thinking of only works on windows and doesn't ahve the clever stuff I wrote in :)
07:49 PM rue_mohr: but I havn't done one of those in a long long time
07:49 PM Tom_L: but it only works on non gcode cnc?
07:49 PM rue_mohr: yea
07:49 PM Tom_L: maybe it's time to move on
07:49 PM rue_mohr: the program reads in the file direct and controls the motors itself
07:49 PM rue_mohr: maybe
07:50 PM Tom_L: like hpgl or something?
07:50 PM rue_mohr: it takes in 256 colour greyscale targa
07:50 PM rue_mohr: so you can just paint what you want to make
07:51 PM rue_mohr: the program starts with a menu to set the scale/zero
07:51 PM rue_mohr: it allows you to test the area to make sure its right too
08:19 PM Tom_L: you didn't test that gcode did ya?
08:19 PM rue_mohr: I didn't finish those bearing blocks yet
08:19 PM rue_mohr: I should go attack more
08:20 PM Tom_L: is that for the big cnc?
08:21 PM rue_mohr: no, its for a cnc plasma cutter
08:21 PM Tom_L: so the shoulder keeps the bearing from falling out?
08:21 PM rue_mohr: but while its set up I'm doing a bunch for stock
08:21 PM rue_mohr: yup
08:21 PM Tom_L: nice press fit would do that too
08:21 PM rue_mohr: kinda
08:36 PM Tom_L: hmmm, still no mail?
09:30 PM rue_mohr: nope checked today
09:31 PM rue_mohr: but if you want $135 off pete's delivered meals I have a card
09:31 PM Tom_L: :)
09:50 PM rue_mohr: should I drive out 30 mins to go scrounge stuff?
09:50 PM rue_mohr: bed frames, DC motors, maybe other stuff
09:51 PM Tom_L: you don't already have enough of those?
09:51 PM rue_mohr: never
09:51 PM rue_mohr: awefull metal tho
09:51 PM Tom_L: wait for the supply to clear so you have room to use it
09:58 PM rue_shop1: only 11 more to go
09:58 PM rue_shop1: I'm gonna go get stuff before I have to cry that I missed it
09:58 PM Tom_L: spare parts will take up space you don't have now
10:52 PM rue_shop1: waste of a trip
10:52 PM rue_shop1: it was all spring cleaning sutff from last year
10:52 PM rue_shop1: I guess they never got it cleaned up
10:52 PM rue_shop1: found 1 bedframe
