02:34 AM rue_shop2: ok, tried the program, drilled the metal, and tried the servo software
02:40 AM rue_shop2: its 12:30am
02:40 AM rue_shop2: I need supper and sleep
09:14 AM rue_mohr: so, I guess I'v started work on the plasma cnc then
09:15 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1160396.jpg
09:15 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1160397.jpg
09:16 AM rue_mohr: thats the X slider and 2 of its 5 bearings
09:16 AM rue_mohr: couldn't use any of the bedframe I have, as its undrillable
09:17 AM rue_mohr: Tom_L, not sure how to deal with that cnc project
09:18 AM rue_mohr: I'll take a pic later, but the plastic deforms around the top edges and then builds up a wall that caused the tip to snap
09:19 AM rue_mohr: it was doing good otherwise
09:33 AM rue_mohr: I wonder if I can put a thin sheet of someting that breaks away better on the top, sandwhich it a bit
09:50 AM zhanx: usaa called me
09:50 AM zhanx: <zhanx> i over paid on car insurance
09:50 AM zhanx: <zhanx> i decided not to pay on it for th next 1.5 years
09:52 AM rue_mohr: oo
09:53 AM rue_mohr: how are you doing?
09:53 AM rue_mohr: you moving yet?
09:53 AM rue_mohr: did that job work out or were they just clowns
09:54 AM zhanx: clowns
09:54 AM zhanx: back to contracting
09:55 AM zhanx: i have 700 jobs to sort etc
09:57 AM rue_shop3: k
09:57 AM rue_shop3: you seem to survive
09:58 AM rue_shop3: did the inheritance come thru?
10:05 AM zhanx: not yet
10:05 AM zhanx: rue_shop3, i am working my ass off fyi
10:05 AM zhanx: to get jobs
01:21 PM Tom_L: rue_shop3, did you try misting with soapy water while cutting?
01:22 PM Tom_L: caused by heat and cutting too slow
01:24 PM Tom_L: move the melted clumps away with a paint brush?
01:37 PM Tom_L: i could add some op stops after each pass to clear it out if that would help
01:38 PM Tom_L: does grbl support M0?
01:38 PM Tom_L: or do you have a button to 'resume' after it pauses?
06:39 PM rue_mohr: its stringy plastic
06:39 PM Tom_L: blow ~120 psi on the cutter while you're cutting )
06:39 PM rue_mohr: their not really melted, its just they dont chip
06:39 PM Tom_L: that be nylon
06:40 PM rue_mohr: HDPE specifically iirc
06:40 PM Tom_L: requires really sharp cutters
06:40 PM Tom_L: china don't know what sharp cutters are
06:40 PM rue_mohr: it was cutting great, it got the first layer, I turned away, came back and it was broken
06:40 PM Tom_L: so the program numbers were close?
06:41 PM Tom_L: speed, feed, depth of cut etc
06:41 PM rue_mohr: I think so
06:41 PM rue_mohr: I blame the material
06:41 PM Tom_L: i can put op stops every layer if you want
06:42 PM Tom_L: how much Z do you have?
06:42 PM Tom_L: does your spindle have on / off control?
06:43 PM rue_mohr: yes, the machine controls the spindle
06:43 PM rue_mohr: z is like 3 inches
06:44 PM Tom_L: you'd only need maybe 1" to be able to clear the shit out
06:44 PM rue_mohr: I dont think it wrapped up the cutter
06:44 PM Tom_L: no but you could clear out the hole
06:45 PM Tom_L: not sure about the od
06:45 PM rue_mohr: just the skin from each layer on the edges built up and forced the bit over
06:45 PM Tom_L: skin cut it off with an exacto and run the next layer
06:45 PM rue_mohr: it was up-milling right?
06:45 PM Tom_L: i think so (climb)
06:46 PM rue_mohr: ok, that shoudl be fine
06:46 PM Tom_L: what should?
06:47 PM rue_mohr: climb
06:47 PM Tom_L: yeah just checked..
06:50 PM Tom_L: i don't think i have any cutters that small with long enough flute length
06:51 PM Tom_L: bak in a few
07:36 PM rue_mohr: np
07:36 PM rue_mohr: I'm working on servo software and cnc machines
07:41 PM Tom_L: want me to add op stops each pass?
07:50 PM aandrew: hm, $250 cash for a used 10" delta table saw with stand. it's missing a fence but I can work around that
07:51 PM aandrew: I *just* bought a brand new 12" compound mitre saw, might take that back, it was like 55% off but for my immediate needs the table saw is more important
07:51 PM aandrew: cant' rip 2x4s with a mitre saw
07:51 PM Tom_L: now if it was a delta band saw i'd say go aheay :)
07:52 PM aandrew: heh a band saw would be nice, but I think my belt saw buy is going to be a horizontal one for cutting metal
07:53 PM aandrew: I can get a real nice 1/4" router with metal stand for $100, but I don't really need that
07:54 PM Tom_L: i want a band saw for cutting metal chunks down to size for milling
07:54 PM aandrew: that is the mitre saw I got: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mastercraft-dual-bevel-sliding-mitre-saw-12-in-0553535p.html
07:54 PM aandrew: Tom_L: oh, not just for cutting bar stock?
07:55 PM Tom_L: no, need something that can cut up to like 4" thick aluminum etc
07:56 PM Tom_L: or at least 3"
07:56 PM aandrew: wouldn't a horizontal bandsaw do that?
07:57 PM Tom_L: probably but i'd rather have a vertical for space
07:57 PM aandrew: *nods*
08:28 PM aandrew: I just realized a 10" saw won't be able to cut through a 2x4's wider surface
08:28 PM aandrew: bleh
08:34 PM liz_: https://icyseas.org/2012/06/07/moira-dunbar-and-women-in-science/
08:57 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, did it make it to the outside profile before it broke?
09:12 PM Tom_L: on a G53 can G00 preceed it or does it have to come after it? : G00 G53 instead of G53 G00
09:12 PM Tom_L: it says 'program on the same line as a linear move'
09:38 PM Tom_L: wrong channel :) unless you know
09:52 PM Tom_L: ok rue_bed, rue_mohr, rue_shop2, rue_shop3, coupler1.txt has op stops in it: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/coupler/
09:53 PM Tom_L: dunno if your cnc has a display to see it but it says (CLEAR CHIPS) when it pauses
09:54 PM Tom_L: i added plenty of them, probably too many
09:54 PM Tom_L: it retracts to 1" and stops
09:56 PM Tom_L: gave me a chance to refine my post a little too
10:31 PM rue_mohr: it did about 3 layers of the inside
10:31 PM Tom_L: dry run that if you use it
10:31 PM Tom_L: it's got lots of M00 stops in it
10:32 PM rue_mohr: the machines are tried up for a bit doing sprayer stuff
10:32 PM Tom_L: does the pc or lcd on the cnc show the gcode?
10:40 PM rue_mohr: my spooling program does
10:40 PM rue_mohr: so technically, G53 probably wont stop it
10:41 PM Tom_L: no, g53 is machine coordinates
10:41 PM Tom_L: M00 stops it
10:45 PM Tom_L: depending how you set your machine it's possible the G53 line might not execute as expected
10:53 PM Tom_L: ok i fixed it. grab that file again
11:01 PM rue_mohr: all the zeros are zero
11:01 PM rue_mohr: I dont set machine and work different
11:01 PM rue_mohr: the machine doesn't zero anyhow, so there is no point
11:01 PM rue_mohr: you give it the work 0 and go
