12:18 AM rue_mohr: got it up again
12:23 AM rue_mohr: when I put the relays on, the microcontroller started playing up
12:23 AM rue_mohr: i had to hunt thru 4 before finding one that works right
12:23 AM rue_mohr: I think I should have tested my china stuff more
12:23 AM rue_mohr: not sure, the first one was working fine till the transformer inncodent
12:23 AM rue_mohr: the vfd pulls up on the 5V towards its 30V
12:23 AM rue_mohr: up to 66mA
03:34 AM rue_mohr: ok, I should call it a night
03:34 AM rue_mohr: got the other two relay boards soldered up
03:34 AM rue_mohr: didn't need half of one of them, oops.
03:45 AM rue_mohr: so, the design went a bit sideways
03:45 AM rue_mohr: to store the resistor table, I need to use an external eeprom
03:46 AM rue_mohr: and I need to be able to do the reduced voltage for the relays, so I need an output to control that
03:46 AM rue_mohr: I need to work out the front panel
03:47 AM rue_mohr: and write lots of software
03:47 AM rue_mohr: almost everything it does is an exception of some kind, so the code will be horrid
03:52 AM rue_mohr: if I went crazy
03:52 AM rue_mohr: and I do mean crazy
03:52 AM rue_mohr: and did a lookup table for the relays, that had every value from 100 ohms to 16Mohms
03:53 AM rue_mohr: 24 bits each
03:53 AM rue_mohr: 3.8Mbits
03:53 AM rue_mohr: ok, but I can do that
03:54 AM rue_mohr: I been pondering a 10 ohm trimmer range
03:56 AM rue_mohr: the idea being that it could map/trim the values to increase accuracy
03:58 AM rue_mohr: 6 kbits for the E12->E192 value tables
05:27 AM polprog: is the final product going to fit in a 2U rack enclosure?
05:27 AM polprog: :)
11:54 AM rue_bed: 1U
11:54 AM rue_bed: so, every place would normally go from 0-9
11:55 AM rue_bed: but I used powers of 2, so I can go from 0-15 on each decade
11:55 AM rue_bed: my highest step order is 1M
11:55 AM rue_bed: so I can go to 15M on it
11:56 AM rue_bed: BUT, the decode below, 100k, can go to 10 (of 15)
11:56 AM rue_bed: so I can max it at 16M
11:56 AM rue_bed: if I dont get really fancy and overflow the others
11:57 AM rue_bed: I wrote software last night, but the cat REALLY wanted me to go to bed, so I didn't have a chance to test it
12:57 PM zhanx: rue_bed, you awake?
12:58 PM zhanx: https://filebin.net/3lvwmxyru9i8ists
01:08 PM rue_mohr: yup
01:12 PM polprog: omg. got i2c working on stm32
01:20 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, tell me what you think of that stl
01:48 PM rue_mohr: just got out of shower
01:49 PM rue_mohr: hah
01:49 PM rue_mohr: let there be coffee?
01:50 PM zhanx: yep
02:00 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, how hard you think it would be to get that made out of metal? its 5 pieces
02:00 PM rue_mohr: dunno
02:00 PM rue_mohr: there are some pretty apt casting services
02:08 PM polprog: i should shower..
02:08 PM polprog: i have another idea - generating color RGB video with stm32
02:08 PM polprog: or genlocking
02:08 PM polprog: for adding overlay to existing video. it should come in handy
02:47 PM rue_mohr: :)
03:56 PM polprog: i lost my camera charger somewhere
04:02 PM polprog: ah, there it is
04:33 PM rue_shop1: one of the guys came by and we tore apart another 54 drives
04:34 PM polprog: nice
05:02 PM rue_shop1: wow
05:02 PM rue_shop1: out of like 300pcs of 470 ohm resisotrs
05:02 PM rue_shop1: not one is over 468 ohms
05:02 PM rue_shop1: most are 460
05:02 PM polprog: weird
05:02 PM rue_shop1: totally different dates and manufacturers
05:13 PM rue_shop1: ah, you know
05:14 PM rue_shop1: these are 464.0 that have been labeled and sold as 5% 470
05:15 PM rue_shop1: I cant pair it with a 330 thats 10 over
05:25 PM polprog: haha
05:25 PM polprog: dont you have some 5 stripe ones?
05:28 PM polprog: nighters - today early
05:28 PM polprog: sailing tomorrow
07:44 PM rue_mohr: all seem to be 464
08:50 PM rue_shop1: ok, I have the 100 ohm modules
08:50 PM rue_shop1: along with the 1k and 10k
08:50 PM rue_shop1: so I need a 100k next
08:54 PM Tom_L: resistor box?
08:56 PM rue_shop1: yup
08:56 PM rue_shop1: getting closer
09:01 PM rue_mohr: I'v almost made all the peices
09:01 PM rue_mohr: I have a little bit of backtracking to do, not much
09:57 PM rue_shop1: I'm a bit cold, I think I'll turn on the scope
09:57 PM rue_shop1: OH DAMN, NOW I CANT HEAR MYSELF THINK
10:01 PM Tom_L: that noisy?
10:01 PM Tom_L: old crt that takes 10 min to warm up?
10:32 PM rue_shop1: tkaes longer for it to finish self cal
10:34 PM rue_shop1: damnit I'm gonna have to make a 100k to get something close
