12:09 AM rue_shop1: somewhere I have parts for a SMT motor driver
12:15 AM rue_shop1: cant find them
10:20 AM aandrew: sigh. cyan in my printer is refusing to jet
01:24 PM rue_bed: which brand?
02:25 PM aandrew: epson workforce wf-7670 I think
02:25 PM aandrew: great printer, 11x17
02:26 PM aandrew: I spent about an hour pissing aroudn with it and now it seems good (for now)
02:26 PM aandrew: I love the price of inkjets, I ahte the "print all the time or it dies" of inkjets
02:57 PM rue_mohr: 414 days uptime, something went odd with kernel, rebooting
04:34 PM aandrew: must be more than a kernel glitch
05:27 PM polprog: https://twitter.com/polprogpl/status/1251995441861976066
05:30 PM Tom_L: nice
05:31 PM polprog: 25 and 50 mil traces
05:32 PM polprog: i think i could have done 20
05:32 PM polprog: next job will have some trace sampels on the unused space
06:34 PM aandrew: grats polprog
06:34 PM polprog: thanks
06:35 PM polprog: its my second (or third) board ever made
06:35 PM polprog: and i feel like every next one is better
06:35 PM aandrew: nice. what's your etching regimen
06:35 PM polprog: uhh.. i use sodium persulfate, in a water bath
06:35 PM polprog: i wiggle it until its done
06:36 PM polprog: i havent measured the time yet
06:36 PM aandrew: sounds reasonable
06:36 PM polprog: the temp is around 55-40.. i have put the pyrometer somewhere i couldnt find it
06:36 PM aandrew: I was always a fan of heated persulfate in a thin vertical tank (just something cobbled together with plexiglas/lexan/whatever) with a bubbler along the bottom
06:37 PM aandrew: vertical so as the copper dissolves anything that comes off falls off the board instead of settling on it
06:37 PM polprog: some pics of the setup are here: https://polprog.net/rozne1/ircjunk/5nanos/etching.html
06:37 PM polprog: this time i used a plastic bucket instead of a pot
06:37 PM Tom_L: make a bubble tank to help with etching
06:38 PM polprog: yeah i need something to make bubbles
06:38 PM aandrew: ah you did vertical too
06:38 PM aandrew: nice
06:38 PM polprog: ive got some aquarium stuff, theres a bubbler there
06:38 PM polprog: an air pump sits unused
06:38 PM aandrew: I ownder how well you culd "squash" that 2L bottle to get it thinner and a little wider
06:38 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/etching/etch5.jpg
06:38 PM Tom_L: fishtank pump
06:38 PM aandrew: hose clamp or strong elastics
06:38 PM aandrew: yep that's what I used
06:38 PM polprog: im pretty fine with the shape
06:38 PM aandrew: aquarium pump with some holes in the tube on the ground
06:38 PM aandrew: on the bottom
06:39 PM polprog: ill try that next time
06:39 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/etching/newtank1.jpg
06:39 PM Tom_L: i put the tube between the blocks to keep it separated and somewhat centered
06:39 PM aandrew: Tom_L: that's exactly the setup I had
06:39 PM aandrew: haven't made a board in years though
06:40 PM polprog: that is a 1.5L bottle, so the bottom half is 0.75L, the bucket is 1L, so the bath volume was .25.. initially used 100C water for the bath, solution was at 23..
06:40 PM Tom_L: it's been a good while since i have
06:40 PM polprog: hmm, that was a colder process
06:40 PM aandrew: I keep thinking I want a nice PCB mill for quick stuff
06:40 PM polprog: it works out to lower than 40 for sure
06:40 PM Tom_L: i just heated the persulphate in the bottle under the sink hot water for a few min before
06:40 PM polprog: i keep my persulfate in a vented jar
06:41 PM Tom_L: just a 2 litre bottle
06:41 PM polprog: however it was all black after today (and i had to add some fresh crystals) so i think it's done and i need to make a new solution
06:42 PM polprog: it would not start until i added new persulfate (it ate the metal clamps though, gonna use "insulated" paperclips next time)
07:06 PM polprog: ill have to cut it up tomorrow
07:06 PM polprog: next time ill also make kicad put holes where holes are so its easier to drill in line
07:06 PM polprog: nighters
07:58 PM rue_shop1: so
07:58 PM rue_shop1: that reboot
07:58 PM rue_shop1: it didn't come back up
07:58 PM rue_shop1: I need to put togethor a new kernel
07:59 PM rue_shop1: its got kernel<->systemd issues
07:59 PM Tom_L: how'd that happen?
07:59 PM rue_shop1: something must have upgraded something that wasn't compatible
08:28 PM aandrew: yeah i've stopped monkeying with kernels/etc on workstations for quite a few years now
08:29 PM aandrew: I used to do device driver development and could still technically ramp up on that fast again, but for workstations I've become very much off the shelf
11:44 PM rue_shop1: wow
11:44 PM rue_shop1: so, fight of a day
11:45 PM rue_shop1: my main computer is kinda down right now
11:45 PM rue_shop1: have a new kernel building
11:45 PM rue_shop1: :/
11:45 PM Tom_L: sounds like a boo boo
11:45 PM rue_shop1: well
11:45 PM rue_shop1: gives me a chance to get the new video card in
11:46 PM rue_shop1: I'm playing with a 24V boost supply for a motor driver, all my attempts to improve it are ....
11:46 PM rue_shop1: well, there are a lot of dead transistors on the floor
11:46 PM rue_shop1: and my thumb has a blister
11:47 PM Tom_L: having a bad weekend ehh?
11:47 PM rue_shop1: well, its not co-operating
