05:55 AM X704 is now known as tiwake
11:06 AM polprog: /home/plpg/programming/xc3sprog-r216/ioftdi.cpp:113:67: error: narrowing conversion of ‘-5’ from ‘int’ to ‘unsigned char’ inside { } [-Wnarrowing] SET_BITS_HIGH, ~0x04, 0x04};
11:07 AM polprog: there goes compiling xc3sprog...
12:24 PM Tom_L: not wanting to compile?
12:24 PM polprog: yeah. weird errors
12:24 PM polprog: i dont have the mental power to do that now
12:24 PM Tom_L: odd, you think their code would compile
12:24 PM polprog: s/do/fix
12:24 PM polprog: lol
12:25 PM Tom_L: are you running this on linux
12:25 PM Tom_L: ?
12:25 PM polprog: i dunno. rue just mentioned it i thought it would be useful to have a prog like that
12:25 PM polprog: yeah, regular debian
12:25 PM Tom_L: so the webpack impact one won't work
12:26 PM polprog: what webpack impact one
12:26 PM Tom_L: the xilinx downloader doesn't work on linux
12:26 PM polprog: ive got the xilinx software all set up
12:26 PM polprog: it works fine
12:26 PM Tom_L: on windows or linux?
12:26 PM polprog: on linux
12:27 PM Tom_L: the impact part won't work
12:27 PM Tom_L: the rest does
12:27 PM polprog: https://polprog.net/rozne1/ircjunk/fpga/7seg2.png
12:27 PM polprog: i havent tried any impact stuff
12:27 PM polprog: name doesnt ring a bell
12:28 PM Tom_L: Tools -> impact
12:29 PM polprog: hmm, let me boot the other computer
12:29 PM Tom_L: you have to have a project compiled for that to have 'focus' on the menu
12:31 PM polprog: ok, the impact window shown up
12:31 PM polprog: just for the record - i CAN upload the bitstreams to the FPGA
12:31 PM Tom_L: using impact or something else?
12:31 PM Tom_L: xprog
12:31 PM polprog: my whole toolchain is working, i just upload over the ft232h with openocd
12:31 PM Tom_L: ok
12:32 PM polprog: so yeah, if you wanted to help me get impact running to program the FPGA then thanks, but i got it working another way
12:32 PM polprog: :)
12:32 PM Tom_L: i'm just saying it won't work on linux due to usb drivers
12:33 PM polprog: impact or the xc3prog
12:33 PM polprog: or both?
12:33 PM Tom_L: impact
12:33 PM polprog: ok
12:33 PM Tom_L: xc3prog should
12:33 PM polprog: if it compiled...
12:33 PM Tom_L: i'm not using xc3prog though
12:33 PM Tom_L: i'm using impact on a windows pc
12:33 PM polprog: i guess i dont need it either
12:34 PM Tom_L: not if you can download bitfiles to your target
12:34 PM polprog: i need to try and flash the bitstream onto the spi flash on board
12:34 PM polprog: so it wakes up with the new program
12:34 PM Tom_L: that you need that file rue has
12:35 PM polprog: might as well try this now since i have the computer running
12:35 PM polprog: the device definition?
12:35 PM polprog: i dont have that :/
12:35 PM Tom_L: you load that in the fpga first, from then on it loads the file to the flash
12:35 PM polprog: ah
12:36 PM Tom_L: see, impact does that for me so i don't need that file
12:36 PM Tom_L: i can choose where i want it loaded
12:36 PM Tom_L: you just tell it what fpga and what flash chip you have
12:43 PM polprog: hmm, rue didnt put that in his ircjunk
12:43 PM polprog: or it wasnt there when i initially wget'd the verilog examples he told me to get
12:52 PM polprog: rue_mohr: you're using openocd to program the spartan right?
02:41 PM Tom_L: https://github.com/ruenahcmohr/spartin6-fpga
02:41 PM Tom_L: i wonder if he put it there
03:04 PM Tom_L: doesn't look like it
03:04 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, can you link where you got that file?
07:16 PM rue_mohr: er, which one?
07:16 PM rue_mohr: polprog, to write to the eeprom?
07:17 PM * rue_mohr is really distracted
07:26 PM Tom_L: yes
07:26 PM Tom_L: so he can write the bit to the flash
07:26 PM Tom_L: i didn't save that link
08:45 PM rue_shop2: 8-/
08:45 PM rue_shop2: falling asleep
09:40 PM Tom_L: aww, don't do that!
