06:33 AM polprog: tum di dum
06:39 AM polprog: waiting for the programmer... already sent
06:39 AM polprog: and the older fpga
08:03 AM polprog: https://i.ibb.co/jhwHPzT/IMG-20200118-145424.jpg
08:03 AM polprog: https://i.ibb.co/VBSLpSb/IMG-20200118-145435.jpg
09:49 AM Tom_L: http://www.lanet.lv/simtel.net/msdos/index-msdos-pre.html
03:52 PM rue_: Tom_L ?
03:53 PM rue_: http://sunsite.lanet.lv/ftp/simtelnet/msdos/c/bestl232.zip
03:53 PM rue_: the contents are gone
04:43 PM Tom_L: yeah i tried a few too
04:45 PM Tom_L: dude has all the files and those are the names/descriptions
04:45 PM Tom_L: are you interested?
04:46 PM Tom_L: https://defuse.ca/b/lldpqxYueqqUiaW24BrwGr
04:46 PM Tom_L: file list
04:53 PM Tom_L: rue_, what permissions would i give to a single directory for someone to upload the zip file?
04:53 PM Tom_L: don't want them wandering around...
05:39 PM Tom_L: hope i don't pooch my server
05:39 PM Tom_L: doing an upgrade
05:41 PM Tom_L: yay! a piece of china fell on my doorstep today
05:53 PM rue_: hi
05:53 PM rue_: hmm
05:54 PM rue_: you need a program that remaps the root directory it uses, so its not possible to navigate back
06:01 PM polprog: i use a htaccess that returns a 404 on the parent directory
06:01 PM polprog: so /rozne1/ircjunk/ is ircjunk, but /rozne1/ is a 404
06:02 PM Tom_L: i probably won't do it anyway
06:02 PM Tom_L: he's got 9G of old dos utilities etc
06:02 PM Tom_L: but no place to post them
06:02 PM polprog: archive.org?
06:04 PM Tom_L: hah they show their categories with space taken and nothing is over a few Mbytes
06:04 PM Tom_L: 9G would probably put them over the top
06:11 PM rue_shop1: huh, I think the jukebox was tipping the difference of the shop keeping warm
06:11 PM rue_shop1: it was off :/
06:13 PM rue_shop1: http://www.kiblerelectronics.com/bob/app_notes/note11/images/schematic1_zvs_driver.png
06:14 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/temp/xilinx/Spartan6_1.jpg
06:14 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/temp/xilinx/Spartan6_2.jpg
06:15 PM Tom_L: what's the schematic for?
06:41 PM rue_: the schematic I had is for mine
06:41 PM rue_: you didn't get mine
06:43 PM rue_: you can definitly do more playing off the bat tho
06:43 PM rue_: so, how doyou program it?
06:46 PM rue_: you have the files with the pin hookup info tho, right?
06:46 PM rue_: ooh thats a inductive heater schematic!
06:47 PM rue_: I'm working on a plastic injector and I think I want to do inductive heating
06:47 PM rue_: cause the injector is a steel tube
06:47 PM Tom_L: ahh
06:47 PM Tom_L: my jtag plugged right in to the board
06:47 PM Tom_L: ribbon
06:47 PM rue_: ! :)
06:47 PM Tom_L: i got lucky
06:47 PM Tom_L: trying to save the file loaded in the board before i do anything else
06:48 PM Tom_L: not sure i have it all set correct yet
06:48 PM rue_: what did they have loaded on there?
06:48 PM Tom_L: initially turn on all 7 leds then start a counter on the digits
06:48 PM Tom_L: with one of the 3 buttons to reset it to 0
06:48 PM rue_: the initial might be the load time
06:48 PM rue_: I noticed they take a while to load
06:49 PM Tom_L: maybe
06:49 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure i have the right spi flash selected yet
06:50 PM Tom_L: it want's to know if i wanna connect to it as well
06:54 PM rue_: I had to load a program to make the fpga work at a gateway to the eeprom
07:20 PM Tom_L: the schematic showed the wrong spi flash chip
07:21 PM Tom_L: your downloader doesn't have all the features of impact. it asks you where you want stuff put
07:22 PM Tom_L: takes a while to read 32M flash though
07:33 PM Tom_L: the readback file is a .mcs extension instead of .bit because it comes from the flash chip
07:53 PM Tom_L: aparently the flash can read in 1, 2 or 4 bit mode
07:53 PM Tom_L: not sure how that works but i think it uses all possible edges for transfer
07:53 PM Tom_L: testing 4bit mode now
07:57 PM Tom_L: aparently all modes work
07:57 PM Tom_L: not alot of time savings in 2 or 4 bit mode but some
08:01 PM Tom_L: so for testing a project it's a helluvalot faster just to send it to the fpga
08:01 PM Tom_L: once it's working it can be sent to the flash
08:07 PM Tom_L: rue_, i think your gateway program is a necessity because of your downloader software
08:14 PM rue_shop1: those flash chips have 4 data lines
08:15 PM rue_shop1: dunno, it makes sense that if the flash is ONLY connected to the fpga, you need to set the fpga up as an interface to talk to the flash
08:16 PM Tom_itx: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP4SvHhly7g&feature=youtu.be
08:17 PM Tom_L: should have rotated it
08:23 PM rue_shop1: oh I see
08:24 PM Tom_L: how can i rotate that video?
08:24 PM Tom_L: can't seem to find it
08:24 PM rue_shop1: dunno, not worried about it myself
08:24 PM rue_shop1: 1/3 of the videos on youtube are sideways
08:24 PM Tom_L: k
08:25 PM Tom_L: sometimes they come out ok and sometimes not
08:29 PM rue_shop1: 14khz and 12.5khz I think are the two primary freqs of my tennitus
08:31 PM Tom_L: they sent a USB -> power plug with it... kinda handy
08:32 PM Tom_L: sound like crickets?
08:33 PM Tom_L: i got that in one ear all the time
08:33 PM Tom_L: and can't hear well from it now
08:33 PM Tom_L: ear popped on a flight several years back and has deteriorated since
08:35 PM rue_shop1: no, really high pitch tones
08:35 PM rue_shop1: 14khz and 12.5khz, with some other stuff that gets harder to make out
08:35 PM Tom_L: i get those occasionally but don't last
08:36 PM Tom_L: or maybe i'm just describing it wrong
08:36 PM rue_shop1: arg, I'm not being productive and its annoying me
08:36 PM Tom_L: it is a 'ringing'
08:36 PM Tom_L: i did a little.
08:36 PM rue_shop1: think you can isolate the freqs?
08:36 PM Tom_L: just figuring the board out
08:36 PM Tom_L: i don't have a way to
08:36 PM rue_shop1: I fixed the display on my audio selector and the squeak in a fan I keep rebuilding
08:37 PM Tom_L: they did a test years back on them
08:37 PM Tom_L: 2015
08:37 PM rue_shop1: only you know what freqs your hearing tho
08:38 PM Tom_L: starts dropping of at 2kz
08:38 PM rue_shop1: I wonder if the programming pins on a t85 are in the same place as a t13
08:38 PM rue_shop1: somewhere I have some test cards form work
08:38 PM Tom_L: 60% at 8khz
08:38 PM rue_shop1: I have a pretty good dip at a few khz
08:39 PM Tom_L: that was back then
08:39 PM Tom_L: acording to this paper
08:39 PM Tom_L: the other side wasn't as bad
08:39 PM rue_shop1: hmm, so I have a bug in my filter profiler code to find
08:40 PM rue_shop1: that would be soemthing
08:42 PM Tom_L: do you know what flash is on yours?
08:51 PM rue_: hmm no
08:52 PM rue_: I can go look in a bit
08:52 PM rue_: wait I have a schematic
08:52 PM Tom_L: my schematic was wrong
08:52 PM Tom_L: it said it had a 64M flash but it's only 32M
08:52 PM Tom_L: once i got the right partno figured out it worked fine
08:53 PM Tom_L: but all i've done so far is read it's contents to a file
08:53 PM rue_: k
10:18 PM Tom_L: busy?
10:46 PM Tom_L: damn. been modifying the wrong timer all night. couldn't figure out why it wasn't changing
11:05 PM rue_bed: :)
11:05 PM rue_bed: 42T4847
11:06 PM Tom_L: same basic counter as the one i did but i like how they did it better
11:06 PM Tom_L: more modular code
11:06 PM rue_: k
11:06 PM rue_: 4 liner?
11:07 PM Tom_L: 4 dig 7 seg hex counter
11:07 PM Tom_L: but it's verilog, not vhdl
11:07 PM rue_: ah
11:07 PM rue_: I wonder if I should spend almost $50 on a new battery for my ok laptop
11:08 PM Tom_L: that was one project i did was to convert a verilog program to vhdl
11:08 PM Tom_L: how up to date is the laptop?
11:08 PM Tom_L: i got a bunch of laptops here with dead batteries
11:09 PM Tom_L: some surface pro3's which cost $~200 for a battery
11:09 PM rue_: hmm
11:11 PM rue_bed: quad intel i5, 2.5Ghz, but apparently running at 975Mhz
11:11 PM Tom_L: why?
11:11 PM rue_bed: its my "good laptop"
11:11 PM rue_bed: it looks like a new one is ~900 min
11:11 PM Tom_L: i don't use a laptop
11:12 PM Tom_L: the kids and her do/did
11:12 PM rue_bed: oh, I have one for that "I need a machine there for this"
11:12 PM rue_bed: it lives on the bed
11:12 PM Tom_L: i keep a very old one in case i have to go service my bud's cnc
11:12 PM Tom_L: but i gotta plug it in and set the cmos every time
11:12 PM rue_bed: yar
11:13 PM rue_bed: ali has batteryies from $22 to $80
11:13 PM Tom_L: i got a handfull of pcmcia cards for it
11:13 PM rue_bed: 22 are probably wood batteries
11:13 PM rue_: there is a new one for $700
11:13 PM Tom_L: this fpga programs damn fast if you just load the fpga
11:14 PM Tom_L: like 1 sec or so
11:14 PM rue_: yup
11:14 PM rue_: how long are you used to?
11:14 PM rue_: hmm, $500...
11:15 PM Tom_L: a few sec on the cpld but reading the flash on this took several minutes
11:15 PM Tom_L: even in 4bit mode
11:16 PM Tom_L: impact detects the flash presence and asks if you want to load it there or not
11:17 PM Tom_L: you can damn near buy a new laptop for $500
11:17 PM rue_: thats what I'm looking at
11:18 PM Tom_L: i've got 3 of each kind
11:18 PM Tom_L: 3 dell, 3 surface pro3
11:18 PM Tom_L: and a couple newer asus ones
11:18 PM rue_: heh, the new laptop I'm looking at has lower specs than my old one
11:19 PM Tom_L: and my old crap
11:19 PM Tom_L: one of the surfaces has a busted screen. dunno how that happened
11:35 PM rue_: ooh
11:35 PM rue_: hmm
11:35 PM rue_: these new laptops dont have an ethernet jack
11:35 PM Tom_L: wireless
11:35 PM rue_: bleck
11:35 PM Tom_L: :)
11:36 PM Tom_L: getting harder to interface to things nowdays
11:36 PM rue_: dont want it connected by crappy (all) wireless
11:37 PM rue_: hmm
11:37 PM rue_: these new laptops have a smaller battery too...
11:37 PM rue_: I wonder how the runtime of what I have compares
11:37 PM Tom_L: the asus are wifi
11:38 PM Tom_L: problem with it is you can't get older windows drivers for it
11:38 PM Tom_L: all 10
11:38 PM rue_: oh wait
11:38 PM rue_: that x540S has wired ethernet
11:38 PM rue_: they didn't list it on the sales sight I was looking at
11:39 PM rue_: hmm
11:39 PM rue_: dont really need a new laptop
11:39 PM rue_: so, how much do I spend on my old one
11:40 PM rue_: gee this problem keeps repeatedly comming up
11:40 PM Tom_L: does it gotta be run off a battery?
11:41 PM rue_: sometimes
11:41 PM rue_ is now known as rue_mohr
11:41 PM rue_mohr: I need to move it to the kitchen just now
11:42 PM rue_mohr: I took the battery out a while ago casue it was complaining the capacity was horris
11:42 PM rue_mohr: horrid, and when I put it back in, its completely dead, but charging
11:42 PM rue_mohr: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32345578270.html
11:43 PM rue_mohr: that battery MIGHT not be made out of wood shavings
11:43 PM rue_mohr: ? hmm
11:49 PM rue_mohr: I wonder if I can 3d print a case that holds a whole bunch of AAA
11:49 PM rue_mohr: honestly, for the few times I'd use it, probably cost less
11:51 PM rue_mohr: http://data.energizer.com/pdfs/ind-lr03pl_eu.pdf
11:52 PM rue_mohr: https://urlclean.com/ <<--- yea!
11:53 PM rue_mohr: X540S
11:57 PM rue_bed: ok, its in the black, I'm gonna try to move it
11:58 PM Tom_L: damn it's cold out
11:58 PM Tom_L: just went out and milled the threads off 4 standoffs to mount on this board
