12:37 PM polprog: development board qty 1
12:38 PM polprog: sweet
12:39 PM polprog: oh
12:39 PM polprog: its actually two
12:39 PM polprog: two spartan 6-en
12:55 PM Tom_L: where's mine???
02:04 PM polprog: rue_bed: ill have to make up a shelled cable like you have here: http://ruemohr.org/%7Eircjunk/tempimage/p1140501.jpg
02:25 PM Tom_L: need a pinout?
02:26 PM Tom_L: that or get a usb jtag
02:33 PM polprog: nah, i have buspirate for now, i got jtag going on that okay
02:33 PM polprog: having such a cable would be useful though
02:33 PM polprog: got a pinout?
03:20 PM polprog: rue_bed: http://polprog.net/rozne1/qmtech-spartan6-sdram-fpga.zip some datasheets for the fpga, in case you dont have them. pack from manufacturers site
04:15 PM Tom_L: i've got that one iirc
04:16 PM polprog: yeah rue has that one as well
04:18 PM Tom_L: that's where i got it
04:18 PM Tom_L: :)
04:20 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/temp/xilinx/rue/first/
04:20 PM Tom_L: there's his first project for that board
04:22 PM polprog: thats using windows tools
04:22 PM polprog: hmm
04:22 PM polprog: i guess ill get it running under win first
04:22 PM polprog: why port 81 btw? i never asked
04:22 PM Tom_L: you can run webpack under linux if you want
04:22 PM polprog: oh
04:22 PM Tom_L: but the downloader doesn't work
04:27 PM Tom_L: have you downloaded it?
04:27 PM polprog: yep
04:27 PM Tom_L: when you install it on linux, don't install impact (the downloader)
04:27 PM polprog: it meaning the xiling tool? no, that no
04:27 PM Tom_L: it may ask about installing port drivers or such
04:28 PM Tom_L: oh
04:28 PM polprog: i wont be doing this now, finals start in two weeks :/
04:28 PM Tom_L: it's a rather large download
04:28 PM Tom_L: it may take 2 weeks for you to download it :)
04:28 PM polprog: why :P
04:28 PM Tom_L: 6G download
04:28 PM polprog: ah
04:29 PM Tom_L: you need to register on their site to get it
04:29 PM Tom_L: when you get ready, lemme know and i'll tell you where to find it
04:29 PM Tom_L: it's in the archives now
04:29 PM polprog: sure
04:29 PM Tom_L: or
04:29 PM Tom_L: i think i put it on my website
04:30 PM Tom_L: you can just get it there if you wanted
04:30 PM polprog: id rehost but i only have 2.3G free :/
04:30 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/xilinx/
04:30 PM Tom_L: the Xilinx_ISE_DS.....
04:32 PM Tom_L: my isp blocks port 80 so i use 81 and stick my tongue out at them
04:32 PM polprog: haha
04:33 PM polprog: my isp is a shitshow of docsis and 1+ nats/whatever so theres no way to port forward at all
04:33 PM polprog: 1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.0.1
04:33 PM polprog: 2 * * * Upłynął limit czasu żądania.
04:33 PM polprog: 3 10 ms 11 ms 9 ms pl-waw04a-rc1-ae-18-0.aorta.net [84.116.253.121]
04:33 PM polprog: yeah
04:34 PM polprog: * could be whatever there that just silently drops
04:35 PM polprog: have to cram everything on this lil vps
04:35 PM polprog: ill probably run a server myself when i move out
04:36 PM polprog: btw your copyright is outdated on the site :P
04:37 PM Tom_L: yeah i haven't changed it in quite a while
04:37 PM Tom_L: if you decide to download that, i need to restart the router... it's been running slow today
04:38 PM polprog: how much is that directory in total?
04:38 PM Tom_L: no idea
04:38 PM Tom_L: don't get the whole thing
04:38 PM Tom_L: the ISE_DVD92 is way outdated and a waste of time to get
04:39 PM polprog: ok
04:39 PM polprog: you know what
04:39 PM polprog: might actually download it now, im on the windows pc with a lot of space
04:39 PM Tom_L: the New_Board directory has my sample files in it
04:39 PM Tom_L: you could get that
04:39 PM polprog: so ill go get some food now and you do what you need
04:39 PM polprog: oh and that too
04:39 PM polprog: ;)
04:39 PM Tom_L: i'm gonna reboot the router... bak in a few
04:40 PM polprog: o7
04:47 PM polprog: many people do. why overcomplicate?
04:48 PM Tom_L: it's on the dev board i got back in 2000 ish
04:49 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/temp/xilinx/xilinx1.jpg
04:50 PM polprog: i took the liberty to click thru these dirs
04:50 PM polprog: cant wait to make a blinky
04:50 PM Tom_L: feel free
04:50 PM polprog: maybe tomorrow, if grandparents dont come over
04:50 PM Tom_L: anything in /rue should work on your board
04:50 PM Tom_L: you got the same one as rue right?
04:51 PM polprog: by the looks of it yes
04:51 PM polprog: where is he, he's was active on twitter
04:51 PM Tom_L: the only 2 files you need will be a .ucf file and either a .v or .vhd file
04:51 PM polprog: the mfr's documentation also included a copy of xilinx documentation that described the MicroBlaze core - that can be interesting
04:51 PM Tom_L: then just create a project and it will generate the rest
04:51 PM polprog: soft core for these fpgas
04:52 PM Tom_L: what's it do?
04:52 PM polprog: just a microcontroller with a funky architecture 'optimized' for these fpgas
04:52 PM polprog: so you can stick some small program inside it instead of on the board
04:52 PM Tom_L: http://www.xess.com/projects/
04:53 PM Tom_L: there some to keep you busy
04:53 PM polprog: ty
04:54 PM Tom_L: http://www.verilog.renerta.com/source/vrg00010.htm
04:55 PM Tom_L: i think rue decided to use verilog instead of vhdl for now
04:56 PM Tom_L: webpack will recognize either one
04:56 PM polprog: i wrote some verilog previously and watched the output in gtkwave
04:56 PM polprog: with some software fpga compielr
04:57 PM polprog: it was called icarus or icaros
04:57 PM polprog: or something like that
04:57 PM Tom_L: i think i've heard of that but never looked at it
04:57 PM polprog: http://iverilog.icarus.com/
04:58 PM Tom_L: are you downloading?
04:58 PM polprog: yes, 770MiB so far
04:59 PM Tom_L: i was gonna reset it again.. it's still not right but i'll wait
04:59 PM polprog: no pressure, i can wait
04:59 PM Tom_L: may as well finish
05:00 PM polprog: yeah not sure when ill be told to shut off the PC, heh
05:00 PM polprog: its midnight here, and this thing is as noisy as the ibm server thats leaning against the wall
05:00 PM Tom_L: heh
05:01 PM Tom_L: it's gonna take a while
05:01 PM Tom_L: i forgot where you were
05:01 PM polprog: poland
05:03 PM Tom_L: i've shipped my avr programmers to poland
05:03 PM Tom_L: several
05:04 PM polprog: cool
05:07 PM Tom_L: oh..
05:08 PM Tom_L: you will probably need to register on xilinx anyway to get a license file
05:08 PM Tom_L: it's free
05:08 PM Tom_L: but you need to register
05:09 PM polprog: yeah, maybe ill get some freebies as a student
05:09 PM polprog: already got free Eagle
05:09 PM Tom_L: eagle is going to be combnied into fusion360 now
05:09 PM polprog: which is an ui trainwrech but hey thats what the people use in my project
05:09 PM polprog: trainwreck*
05:10 PM Tom_L: i used eagle 4.16
05:10 PM Tom_L: it was good back then
05:10 PM Tom_L: it sucks now
05:10 PM polprog: yeah its amazing how well they are intergrated. i made up a board in eagle and friend made an enclosure in fusion and printed it next day
05:10 PM Tom_L: they sent me an email couple days ago about that
05:12 PM Tom_L: any of the verilog test files you find on my site, all you need are those 2 files
05:12 PM Tom_L: the .ucf (pin file) and the .v or .vhd (code)
05:29 PM polprog: halfway done
05:42 PM polprog: ok, stalled the download, gotta go to sleep
05:42 PM polprog: goodnight
07:35 PM Tom_L: news from the mechanic?
07:37 PM rue_mohr: did n't take the truck in yet
