07:02 PM rue_shop1: the truck must be getting to that age
07:08 PM rue_shop1: today I went to get groceries and the tailgate wouldn't open
07:08 PM zhanx: rue_shop1, lube it
07:08 PM rue_shop1: the rod popped out of the handle
07:08 PM rue_shop1: so, I'v just fixed that
07:08 PM zhanx: extra lube needed
07:08 PM rue_shop1: :)
07:08 PM rue_shop1: I cant find the switch for the seatbelt warning tho
07:08 PM rue_shop1: I was in thru the retractor and I couldn't see any wires
07:08 PM zhanx: its in the holder
07:08 PM rue_shop1: I checked the reciever, and there is no switch in there
07:08 PM zhanx: should be
07:08 PM rue_shop1: the diagrams for this truck say its in the recoiler
07:08 PM rue_shop1: there are things there, but I didn't see any wires,
07:08 PM rue_shop1: tho, LOTS of dirt
07:08 PM zhanx: whats wrong with wearing a seatbelt?
07:08 PM zhanx: what model?
07:08 PM rue_shop1: I am, it says I'm not an I find the insinuation insulting
07:08 PM rue_shop1: '91 S10
07:08 PM zhanx: its on the floor for the wires, they are the side away from the driver, look under the seat for them
07:09 PM rue_shop1: slept in till 12:30
07:09 PM rue_shop1: buddy came by, while he was here the power went out
07:09 PM rue_shop1: had a shower, and coded till the power came back
07:09 PM rue_shop1: got gas for genny and groceries
07:09 PM zhanx: yea i fell asleep and missed 1/2 the day
07:10 PM rue_shop1: yea
07:10 PM rue_shop1: I mean, I waS up till 3:30am last night, but
07:10 PM zhanx: power was out here also for a bit weird
07:11 PM rue_shop1: it looks like bad things happened during the outage, while on my way for groceries, there were a bunch of emercency vehicles, and a med chopper landed at the baseball field
07:11 PM rue_shop1: which means it was REALLY BAD
07:11 PM rue_shop1: straight to vancouver, something our local hospital cant handle
07:12 PM rue_shop1: (they do a good job of making people wait and IV rehydration)
07:12 PM rue_shop1: --end of list--
07:13 PM rue_shop1: I'll look at the seatbelt thing again later, I suspect if I pull the transition peice off the door (bottom) it'll be under there
07:13 PM rue_shop1: or close
07:13 PM rue_shop1: but I suspect the contacts on the switch are dirty
07:16 PM rue_shop1: the genny did ok after I got it going
07:17 PM rue_shop1: I dont understand that carb, its always out, and everytime I need to open both needle valves be about a turn and a half to get it right again
07:17 PM rue_shop1: EVERY TIME
07:17 PM zhanx: been awhile since you used it?
07:17 PM rue_shop1: !@?!??!?!!
07:17 PM zhanx: needs new springs then
07:17 PM rue_shop1: not really, I ran it a week ago after it looked like the season opened again
07:17 PM rue_shop1: think its rattling in eh?
07:17 PM rue_shop1: their pretty stiff
07:18 PM rue_shop1: ok, the internet modem needs a new ups
07:18 PM zhanx: yep main cause of that, rue_shop1 you know springs fatigue
07:18 PM rue_shop1: and I'm pondering that 1G upgrade on the router
07:18 PM rue_shop1: not like it doesn't vibrate like all hell :)
07:19 PM rue_shop1: I wonder how long the pwoer was out...
07:19 PM rue_shop1: might have been about 1.5 hr
07:19 PM rue_shop1: maybe if I just backpack the existing ups
07:19 PM zhanx: beats me here, i took an nap for 4 hours
07:23 PM rue_shop1: ok, lunch and work on the filter profiler
07:23 PM rue_shop1: maybe I'll play with the internets tommorow
07:24 PM rue_shop1: genny deserves an oil change and load test
07:24 PM rue_shop1: 867-5309
07:25 PM zhanx: lol
07:49 PM rue_: 5pm, I need lunch
08:07 PM rue_shop1: 6pm, need lunch
08:17 PM rue_: its so discouraging when the fail light gets stuck on
08:53 PM Tom_L: 9pm I need something.
08:54 PM Tom_L: truck is whippin yer arse
09:00 PM rue_shop1: well, you know that vehicles go thru periods where they need a ton of maintenance and then they are ok for ages
09:00 PM Tom_L: yeah
09:01 PM Tom_L: i'm hoping 2 of mine hold up for a few more months
09:01 PM Tom_L: then both my kids can get their own
09:01 PM Tom_L: so i'll be lookin at 3x new soon
09:01 PM Tom_L: cause she want's one too
09:03 PM Tom_L: still miss my old S10..
09:04 PM Tom_L: i had to pull the front springs out of it once.. ball joints iirc
09:07 PM Tom_L: didn't have a spring compressor either
09:12 PM rue_shop1: I got the front shocks and stuff done year before last
09:12 PM rue_shop1: it was ducking into the turns a bit much, I took a look and one of the tosion bar links was eroded away
09:13 PM rue_shop1: it needs new rear leaf springs sometime
09:13 PM rue_shop1: some of 'em are broke
09:13 PM rue_shop1: not enough to be a major issue yet
09:23 PM Tom_itx: you near alot of salt?
09:25 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
09:26 PM Tom_L: never broke a leaf spring
09:28 PM Tom_L: i did have to fix a torsion bar on one of em once though
09:28 PM Tom_L: i forget which one
09:28 PM Tom_L: see i had an S10 Blazer before the S10
09:29 PM Tom_L: someone crunched it for me one day. cut me off and i drove over the front of their car and when it landed it snapped the rear axle
09:29 PM Tom_L: it was that or go into on coming traffic...
09:32 PM rue_shop1: ouch
09:32 PM Tom_L: and that's how i came to own the S10 :)
09:34 PM rue_shop1: I can capture screenshots from the scope now
09:34 PM rue_shop1: I got it set up with the serial port, to send an EPS file
09:34 PM rue_shop1: I can convert it with inkscape
09:34 PM Tom_L: liking it so far?
09:35 PM rue_shop1: but I need to set up a little reader program to auto-stop on a 2 second timeout
09:35 PM rue_shop1: yea
09:35 PM rue_shop1: 4 channels is awesome
09:35 PM Tom_L: has it found a home on a shelf in the shop yet?
09:36 PM rue_shop1: I changed out for the old scope
09:36 PM Tom_L: mine is an old phillips 100Mhz 2 channel analog scope
09:36 PM Tom_L: i got it new but it's old now :)
09:36 PM rue_shop1: I needed the storage stuff for the servo
09:37 PM Tom_L: if i knew then what i know now i would have gotten digital
09:37 PM Tom_L: i haven't had it out in ages
09:37 PM rue_shop1: http://ruemohr.org/%7Eircjunk/tempimage/ch1servo.png
09:37 PM rue_shop1: :))))
09:38 PM rue_shop1: its different, there are drawbacks
09:38 PM Tom_L: nice
09:38 PM rue_shop1: its odd, ch4 should be an RC curve
09:38 PM rue_shop1: anyhow
09:39 PM rue_shop1: I wanted it to behave like ch4 is tho, it just didn't matter in the end
09:40 PM Tom_L: why is irc dead all day and comes alive at bedtime?
09:40 PM rue_shop1: no idea
09:41 PM Tom_L: lcnc too
09:41 PM rue_shop1: tho I run about 180degrees out from everyone
09:41 PM rue_shop1: 80ms is a much better settling time for this peak detector
09:43 PM Tom_L: https://www.sump.org/projects/analyzer/
09:44 PM Tom_L: https://hackaday.com/2018/10/12/logic-analyzers-for-fpgas-a-verilog-odyssey/
09:44 PM Tom_L: kinda moot since we both have one
09:46 PM rue_shop1: lots of people are making RF analyzers
09:46 PM rue_shop1: I need to go down to 1Hz and their hardware cant do that
09:46 PM Tom_L: what happens at 1hz?
09:46 PM rue_shop1: servo motors have time to move
09:47 PM rue_shop1: I want to know the -3db of mechanical systems
09:47 PM rue_shop1: as low pass filters
09:50 PM rue_shop1: http://ruemohr.org/%7Eircjunk/tempimage/ch0servo.png
09:50 PM rue_shop1: the difference between the two channels is where the capacitors ground to
09:51 PM rue_shop1: seeing as "it doesn't matter" some of the go to the -9V supply and some of them to the +9V supply
09:51 PM Tom_L: huh
09:52 PM rue_shop1: I should be able to use this board to get my software going, but I think I should make a better one later
09:52 PM rue_shop1: so next I need to make sure their on the peaks properly
09:52 PM Tom_L: which board?
09:53 PM rue_shop1: its an analog front end I made for getting the waveform data
09:56 PM rue_shop1: it sure is nice having the trace freze tho
09:56 PM rue_shop1: the measurements aren't too awesome
09:56 PM rue_shop1: things like duty cycle are +-0.1%
09:57 PM rue_shop1: freq isn't as good as my counter
09:58 PM rue_shop1: but its great for a quick number
09:58 PM rue_shop1: as long as you know not to trust it to 0.0001v
09:58 PM rue_shop1: % / etc
10:00 PM rue_shop1: and I love being able to see the trace before the trigger
10:01 PM rue_shop1: my old scopes trigger was pickey, there were a lot of fast things it couldn't catch
10:09 PM rue_shop1: these are so sensitive on the drift that even a 10M resistor to pull on it is WAY too low a resistance
10:09 PM rue_shop1: one of the chineese caps had too much leakage :/
10:11 PM Tom_L: they sold 6 of those boards since i ordered one
10:11 PM Tom_L: i'd like to hook a quadrature up to it and get a count on the display
10:11 PM rue_shop1: easy
10:11 PM rue_shop1: what kinda display?
10:11 PM Tom_L: just one little project
10:12 PM Tom_L: the 7 seg
10:12 PM rue_shop1: k
10:12 PM rue_shop1: that state machine of mine is what I use on uC to do encoders
10:12 PM Tom_L: i think i've got a loose quadrature around here somewhere
10:12 PM rue_shop1: :)
10:12 PM Tom_L: it's gotta have pullups on the output though
10:12 PM Tom_L: i do know that
10:13 PM rue_shop1: you know how to turn on pullups on the fpga?
10:13 PM Tom_L: if it goes negative, it could light a decimal point or something since it doesn't have +-
10:13 PM Tom_L: they're weak
10:13 PM Tom_L: and no
10:14 PM Tom_L: it would be in the pin description file
10:14 PM Tom_L: it may be in the dialog in webpack when you define them
10:14 PM Tom_L: but it's a 5v quadrature so i'm not sure how that would work
10:21 PM rue_shop1: I did it for the buttons
10:24 PM Tom_L: mmm, my interweb just went to crap
10:25 PM rue_shop1: hmm
10:25 PM rue_shop1: router?
10:26 PM Tom_L: i dunno
11:03 PM Tom_L: switching irc clients fixed my ssd runaway at night though
