12:14 PM rue_mohr: or music, sound in general, its very occupying
03:35 PM rue_shop1: ok
03:35 PM rue_shop1: his printer was printing lousy cause it was only feeding 60% of the required plastic to the head
04:41 PM Tom_L: i'm betting that's fixed now

08:45 PM rue_shop3: I wonder what I can put on a 3d print as a release for a silicone mold
08:57 PM Tom_L: what does it stick to a little but lets go?
08:58 PM Tom_L: A mixture of 2 parts isopropyl alcohol and 1 part dish soap can be used in some cases to release silicone from silicone. Petroleum jelly can be used to release silicone from silicone, but it should be thinned with mineral spirits so that it can be applied in a thin layer with minimal visible brush strokes.
08:59 PM Tom_L: Generally, silicone RTV mold making rubber does not stick to anything, and nothing will stick to it. The exception is that it will stick to itself, other silicones, silica, and glass. If you need to release silicone from itself, use our mold release for silicone.
08:59 PM Tom_L: use the right silicone....
08:59 PM rue_shop1: !
09:00 PM Tom_L: Mold Max®, OOMOO® and Smooth-Sil®
09:01 PM Tom_L: https://www.smooth-on.com/support/faq/101/
09:02 PM Tom_L: probably parafin wax would work
09:05 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, one thing i _would_ do would be to smooth out the part with that vapor stuff
09:05 PM Tom_L: i forget what chemical it is though
09:07 PM rue_shop3: pla wont do that
09:09 PM Tom_L: you know what i'm talking about though?
09:31 PM rue_shop3: yep
09:31 PM rue_shop3: trying to make a thin wax coat was like chasing futility itself
09:33 PM Tom_L: heat is your friend
09:39 PM rue_shop3: yea, I cant heat up the pla tho
09:39 PM rue_shop3: I was once reading an article about wax-oil hybrids
09:39 PM rue_shop3: cant remmeber what oils they were mixing the waxes with tho
09:41 PM Tom_L: try naptha
09:41 PM Tom_L: (lighter fluid)
10:12 PM rue_mohr: hmmm
11:37 PM rue_mohr: the oogoo casting came out darn good
11:38 PM rue_mohr: the 3d printed mold didn't survive
11:38 PM rue_mohr: but it was a test on a new printer anyhow
11:38 PM rue_mohr: wasn't a great print
