07:27 PM zhanx: dinner is smoking https://imgur.com/a/nY6LPY8
07:28 PM rue_mohr: arduino controller?
07:28 PM zhanx: no first time using this smoker so learning how it works
07:30 PM rue_mohr: ok, I have to go shopping
08:25 PM Tom_L: good beef down there i bet
08:25 PM zhanx: yep
08:26 PM zhanx: i just wrapped it moved it to the far end of the smoker so the crispy parts become moist
10:28 PM rue_mohr: it worked! mostly...

10:29 PM rue_mohr: now I can cross that one off my list
10:29 PM zhanx_: can you link that z slide again?

10:35 PM Tom_L: what's the scoup for? you had one. :)
10:35 PM Tom_L: turned out good
10:36 PM rue_mohr: its ok
10:36 PM Tom_L: better than your first attempt
10:36 PM rue_mohr: I didn't know if it would work
10:36 PM rue_mohr: thin casting
10:37 PM Tom_L: why wouldn't it?
10:37 PM rue_mohr: ok, phonecall finished
10:37 PM rue_mohr: cause its thin, I was supposed to cast it fast, but the pot slipped, and I paused for a second
10:37 PM Tom_L: you figure out that method in the YT you can make thin fins etc like heatsinks or motor fins
10:37 PM rue_mohr: thats why the corner is missing
10:38 PM Tom_L: oh, i just noticed that
10:38 PM rue_mohr: yep
10:38 PM Tom_L: you shouldn't have said anything :)
10:38 PM rue_mohr: and there was some loose sand
10:38 PM rue_mohr: the cand didn't quite hold togethor right
10:38 PM rue_mohr: I dont know if it needs more clay or water
10:38 PM rue_mohr: but that pattern on the handle?
10:38 PM Tom_L: but you can melt it and do it again and again
10:39 PM rue_mohr: thats the tape I wrapped the plastic handle with
10:39 PM Tom_L: saw that
10:39 PM rue_mohr: na, I just wanted to know if the idea would work
10:39 PM rue_mohr: I poured it hot, I knew I had to do it fast, and thats the proof
10:39 PM rue_mohr: so, I'm good with that
10:40 PM Tom_L: do you know how hot it was?
10:40 PM rue_mohr: no
10:40 PM rue_mohr: I got parts for a thermocouple guage and havn't assembled it yet
10:41 PM Tom_L: did you find a crucible to get?
10:41 PM rue_mohr: the last thing on my casting todo list is just round bars for the lathe projects
10:41 PM rue_mohr: I'm waiting to win an instructables contest for the money
10:41 PM rue_mohr: the one I want is $100cad
10:41 PM rue_mohr: so, I'll see
10:41 PM rue_mohr: keep patching holes for now
10:42 PM rue_mohr: I'll enter the cnc contest too with... something...
10:42 PM Tom_L: that's got to be altering the alloy mix
10:42 PM rue_mohr: I was looking at their winners, I think I know how to better my odds
10:42 PM Tom_L: use mine and write it up
10:42 PM rue_mohr: I'm playing with ideas
10:42 PM Tom_L: i'm not gonna but it's an idea
10:43 PM rue_mohr: there are still 0 entries
10:44 PM Tom_L: is it hard to knock the sand off the casting after it cools?
10:45 PM rue_mohr: nope
10:45 PM rue_mohr: it hardens up quite a bit, but its crumbly
10:47 PM Tom_L: bedtime for me
10:48 PM Tom_L: i went to get the cutters i was missing today and he didn't have a single one
10:48 PM Tom_L: maybe that's why i'm missing them
10:48 PM Tom_L: i did get a few dowel pins
11:24 PM rue_mohr: cutters?
11:28 PM rue_mohr: wire cutters?
11:53 PM zhanx_ is now known as zhanx
