08:45 AM rue_mohr: wow strange dream
08:49 AM rue_mohr: I was hired by a high tech potato farming company
08:49 AM rue_mohr: to help interface a new potato monitoring system to their existing system
08:49 AM rue_mohr: they had a cable trough, about 7feet wide and 10 feet deep
08:49 AM rue_mohr: there was a low power det. cord installed that a tech would (jog) along while running new cable in it, it would go off at the right times to hold them up
08:49 AM rue_mohr: 1 time use and most of the trough was out of runs of it
10:00 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, odd dream
10:01 PM Tom_L: for him?
10:02 PM zhanx: well the det cord part is
10:02 PM Tom_L: overlooked that part
10:50 PM zhanx: man i am so booked
10:50 PM zhanx: i pulled a 14 day today
10:50 PM zhanx: and tomorrow is going to be at least 12 hours
10:52 PM zhanx: Tom_L, getting legit with insurance etc, changed the game up here for me
11:03 PM Tom_L: good to hear
11:04 PM Tom_L: takes a bit to get everything in place
11:04 PM zhanx: and now i am i like wtf just happened
11:05 PM zhanx: crap i pulled a rue and only ate breakfast today and now its too late to eat for my diet
11:05 PM Tom_L: just don't let it run you
11:06 PM zhanx: i need the funds right now, later i can calm down on it
11:07 PM zhanx: NCR has basically hired me at this point
11:07 PM Tom_L: and verizon?
11:07 PM zhanx: or AT&T
11:07 PM Tom_L: as a contractor right? not employee
11:08 PM zhanx: i did that cisco router gig last week and out did their techs so word got a round fast
11:08 PM zhanx: yes contractor
11:08 PM Tom_L: good
11:09 PM rue_mohr: ok
11:09 PM rue_mohr: so
11:09 PM Tom_L: keep your knowledge to yourself, it's your edge
11:09 PM zhanx: Tom_L, I am
11:09 PM zhanx: i will train my people but not theirs
11:10 PM Tom_L: pick ones that want to stick around
11:10 PM zhanx: the 4 helpers NCR got for me today. all sucked
11:10 PM zhanx: the one that stood out as ok, i wouldn't hire
11:14 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, how's the pot setting up?
11:14 PM zhanx: knowing rue_mohr he cut himself checking
11:15 PM Tom_L: that tin _did_ have a nasty edge on it
11:15 PM zhanx: yes it did
11:16 PM Tom_L: had to dig into my program code a bit today. relearn old printer esc codes to adjust the print for a new form i made
11:17 PM Tom_L: i had it with my printout but took the pdf to the printer and had them make me some samples to test for the final one
11:17 PM Tom_L: i knew it would be off some
11:17 PM Tom_L: luckily i still had the book for the printer
11:17 PM Tom_L: tells you how old it is... still printed manuals
11:18 PM zhanx: old but works fine
11:19 PM Tom_L: kicked it into graphic mode to get the vertical where i wanted it
11:19 PM zhanx: old hp?
11:19 PM Tom_L: otherwise the adjustments were too coarse
11:19 PM Tom_L: IBM
11:19 PM Tom_L: started with hpgl
11:20 PM zhanx: oh speaking of that
11:20 PM zhanx: do you order carbon less invoices?
11:20 PM Tom_L: yeah
11:20 PM Tom_L: it's 2 part but carbonless
11:20 PM Tom_L: dunno what it's called
11:20 PM zhanx: site?
11:21 PM Tom_L: but it's a chemical reaction on impact i guess
11:21 PM Tom_L: local
11:21 PM zhanx: k
11:21 PM zhanx: my local place is super slow
11:21 PM zhanx: 2 weeks and change i got the shirt proofs finally
11:22 PM Tom_L: https://www.48hourprint.com/carbonless-forms.html
11:22 PM Tom_L: never heard of em but the forms are there
11:22 PM zhanx: staples is cheaper for me
11:23 PM Tom_L: https://www.uprinting.com/carbonless-form-printing.html
11:23 PM Tom_L: i get 2k for ~$160
11:23 PM zhanx: dang
11:23 PM Tom_L: shop around
11:23 PM zhanx: ok i need to do that
11:24 PM Tom_L: https://broadstrokeinc.com/
11:25 PM Tom_L: https://broadstrokeinc.com/services/carbonless-forms/
11:25 PM zhanx: thanks Tom_L i am wiped out
11:25 PM Tom_L: they've changed names 3-4 times since i started doing business with em
11:25 PM rue_mohr: well I didn't cut myself
11:26 PM rue_mohr: only cause I used the 36" crowbar
11:26 PM Tom_L: 1 point for rue_mohr
11:26 PM rue_mohr: damn those seams are good
11:26 PM Tom_L: seams?
11:26 PM rue_mohr: chiseled out the pot hooks and the burner hole
11:26 PM zhanx: seams for the tin?
11:26 PM rue_mohr: the seam in the ductwork
11:26 PM rue_mohr: the ones that just clip togethor
11:26 PM Tom_L: yeah
11:26 PM zhanx: yea they tend to lock in
11:26 PM rue_mohr: MEAN to get apart
11:26 PM rue_mohr: esp from the inside
11:26 PM Tom_L: some are worse than others
11:27 PM Tom_L: buckling them in releases it
11:27 PM rue_mohr: ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/smelter/
11:27 PM Tom_L: i may have just twisted the edge with pliers to shrink the diameter to get it out
11:28 PM rue_mohr: yea, I did all that
11:28 PM Tom_L: zhanx get a pdf to them for a quote
11:28 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/smelter/p1120788.jpg
11:28 PM Tom_L: dunno how their shipping stuff works
11:28 PM rue_mohr: thats with the bottom poured in
11:28 PM Tom_L: since it's local
11:28 PM zhanx: that i can do, i have that done
11:28 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/smelter/p1120789.jpg
11:29 PM rue_mohr: I left it a *bit* late to cut the burner hole, but got it
11:29 PM Tom_L: inside looks smooth
11:29 PM rue_mohr: yep
11:29 PM Tom_L: overall a better pour than the first one it appears
11:29 PM rue_mohr: the first wasn't poured
11:29 PM rue_mohr: it was paddied
11:29 PM Tom_L: right
11:30 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/smelter/p1120790.jpg
11:30 PM Tom_L: zhanx how many parts do you need?
11:30 PM rue_mohr: a lid will be nice
11:30 PM rue_mohr: I think it'll stay in one peice
11:30 PM Tom_L: i started with 3 and ended up with 2
11:30 PM rue_mohr: I'll need to redo the band to cinch up
11:30 PM zhanx: Tom_L, i think 250 to start with 2 sheets
11:30 PM Tom_L: you should have poured a handle in it
11:31 PM rue_mohr: I thoguht about it
11:31 PM Tom_L: zhanx mine are half sheet
11:31 PM zhanx: which i can do
11:31 PM rue_mohr: but the ones I'v seen dont have anything special in the lid casting for a handle
11:31 PM Tom_L: (8.5 x 11)/2
11:31 PM rue_mohr: its just welded on the ring
11:31 PM zhanx: full sheet is wasting paper
11:31 PM Tom_L: my original was full sheet
11:32 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/smelter/p1120791.jpg
11:32 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, yea just set it in a welded ring with a swing hinge
11:32 PM rue_mohr: I was a bit worried cause the lining went a bit eccentric, but its ok
11:32 PM Tom_L: looks like it fits good
11:32 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, or even just two handles on the sides would be ok
11:33 PM rue_mohr: with that lid I think it'll do way better
11:33 PM zhanx: Tom_L, if i can do 4 weeks of business like this, i can out right buy a piece of land with a building on it
11:33 PM Tom_L: do you need that?
11:33 PM zhanx: kind of
11:34 PM Tom_L: 2 sets of utilities
11:34 PM Tom_L: building ins
11:34 PM Tom_L: taxes
11:34 PM Tom_L: weigh it good
11:34 PM zhanx: was gonna say no, but its off grid so gen maintenance
11:34 PM zhanx: i am
11:36 PM zhanx: its 2 fold
11:36 PM zhanx: one its an asset, two is another payment set
11:37 PM zhanx: three, workshop for my robotics also
11:37 PM Tom_L: i'll be curious how their quote compares to big box stores
11:38 PM zhanx: staples was .10 a sheet for the first order of 250
11:38 PM Tom_L: i just call em up and tell em i need more of these, how many did i get last time? duplicate that
11:39 PM zhanx: which is funny as i don't even know what your business does really
11:39 PM Tom_L: when i started with them, they used the metal transfers to print
11:39 PM Tom_L: makes money
11:40 PM zhanx: true
11:40 PM Tom_L: could be anything and all this applies
11:40 PM zhanx: as you said before
11:41 PM Tom_L: you have an impact printer?
11:41 PM Tom_L: make sure the forms align with it if you use carbonless
11:41 PM zhanx: no i used it to make the 3d printer
11:42 PM Tom_L: i print the client info on them before i go so alot is already filled out
11:42 PM zhanx: yep and i use a 3x5 card for the need to know info for my pocket
11:43 PM Tom_L: all that's on my cell phone
11:43 PM Tom_L: sql database imported from my program
11:44 PM zhanx: nice i need to get something like that buy 3x5 cards are cheap and easy to grab also
11:44 PM Tom_L: you use apple or android?
11:44 PM zhanx: android
11:44 PM Tom_L: memento database
11:44 PM Tom_L: easy to use
11:45 PM zhanx: looking it up
11:45 PM Tom_L: can be cloud but not needed
11:45 PM Tom_L: i keep mine local
11:46 PM Tom_L: it's nice just to import the file to it without having to mess with keying it in the phone
11:47 PM Tom_L: i keep current tax rates for the state on it too
11:47 PM Tom_L: also an import
11:47 PM zhanx: k
11:48 PM Tom_L: we have ~800 different ones
11:48 PM zhanx: wow
11:48 PM zhanx: that for me is later on
11:48 PM Tom_L: alot are the same rate but could change any quarter
11:48 PM Tom_L: check if your state publishes a csv for that
11:48 PM Tom_L: mine does
11:48 PM zhanx: k
11:49 PM Tom_L: i've had to call and have them correct it a few times
11:50 PM Tom_L: ours updates quarterly
11:51 PM Tom_L: k, early day. i'm out
11:51 PM zhanx: same here
11:52 PM rue_mohr: how are you guys with git?
11:53 PM zhanx: ok why?
11:53 PM zhanx: you cloning or forking?
11:53 PM rue_mohr: well I need to push an update of 3 files to a project
11:54 PM rue_mohr: https://github.com/ruenahcmohr/TapeRunner
11:54 PM rue_mohr: that project
11:55 PM zhanx: ok so you are doing a "git push origin master" then
11:55 PM zhanx: well
11:55 PM rue_mohr: ok
11:55 PM zhanx: ok so you are doing a "git push TapeRunner master" then
11:55 PM rue_mohr: should I do a branch of checkout to a new dir, drop my files in and push them back
11:55 PM rue_mohr: ?
11:56 PM zhanx: is it a branch or the master of it
11:56 PM rue_mohr: master
11:56 PM zhanx: then master push
11:56 PM rue_mohr: push master?
11:57 PM zhanx: git push TapeRunner master
11:57 PM rue_mohr: ok
